Just a phenomenal laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for two main reasons: its undeniable power, and its objectively slick appearance. I have not yet been disappointed. Before I dive into the review, a quick backstory: I have always been an Apple loyalist, so this PC was a change of pace for me. My previous laptop was a Macbook Pro from 2010, and I wanted to stay with a system I was familiar with. As much as I love Apple, I did not want to spend over $2,000 for a laptop just because of the brand. So, I decided that I would get a much more powerful computer for less. I have also wanted to get a gaming PC, so I compromised and decided I would get a gaming laptop that I could also use for school/work (I'm a grad student). That's where I began my search, and my search ended with this laptop. I have owned this laptop for several days now and all I can say is that it is an absolute beast. I have been playing Rainbow Six Siege on it at ultra high settings and it just looks phenomenal. Apps and programs load super fast (16 gigs of RAM is a lot, btw), and I have found the preloaded apps (such as Dragon Center and the Steel Series engine) to be very useful. This thing also looks great from a design standpoint - from the custom keyboard illuminations to the all-black finish to the rose gold trim, this isn't your typical gaming laptop. This is a professional looking device with just a little bit of flair, and it's not something that I will hesitate to bring into the office. Speaking of which, it has so far handled my work just fine. I mean, if it can run R6 Siege at ultra settings, then what trouble is a little old Excel file going to cause? There are a few negatives that are worth mentioning. The first is the heat: from the second you spin up a game, this laptop has its fans off and running at high speeds, and this thing gets HOT - the air blowing out from the right side can keep your mouse hand warm in the winter :) . With those fans running at such high speeds, it also gets pretty noisy, but I wear a headset while gaming (Hyper X Alpha), and I don't hear a thing until I take them off. You can adjust the speed of the fans in the Dragon Center, as well as other aspects of performance. The matte black finish is also prone to picking up fingerprints, and some parts of the laptop just feel a tad bit flimsy. However, if you're careful with your devices like I am, I'm sure you won't have any problems. Overall, I think this laptop is an absolute beast, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a professional-looking gaming laptop. It does have its drawbacks, but I do not believe they outweigh the countless benefits that come with purchasing this computer.

Jack of all
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop pretty much covers everything. It can handle games while keeping heat away from your hands, the keybaord feels very good to type on and has all the RGB you could want, the display produces very nice looking colors and refreshes at 144hz, the battery lasts long enough to get work done without plugging in, and the package is lightweight enough to carry. While you get a laptop that covers all your bases, it only gets to 90% on some points. For example, the battery is comparatively long for a gaming machine (~5 hours), but not the absolute longest compared to other machines. The build quality is good, but the aluminum is thin. I personally don't find the very minor flex to be an issue, but if you are expecting apple quality it's not here. If you want something more specialized for a certain task, there may be a slightly cheaper option which covers that particular area better. If you are looking for a do it all laptop, this is it.

The GS 65 Stealth thin laptop review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GS 65 Stealth laptop is a great laptop for casual gaming. I would not recommend this being your main gaming machine if you are playing games that are heavy on graphics. This laptop does get quite hot and it will not last you the full four years if you are playing games on it every night. and the fan is quite loud but since most gamers use headsets anyway that should not be a problem. I am using this laptop for school and i think it is perfect for that sort of thing. It is great because it has the stats of a gaming laptop but you can take it to a coffee shop without feeling self conscious. it will definitely handle everything I need it for, it might even be overkill. But the absolute worst thing about this laptop is the build quality. When i was looking at it in the store i loved the keyboard. the screen flexes a lot, and the power button area is bendable. So if you don't get the extended warranty just be careful with it!!!!!!!

Exceeded expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my son, who is a big PC gaming fan, and it has exceeded expectations. After a lot of research comparing Alienware, Razer, Asus and others, we are very happy with the MSI. A few highlights he calls out after his first couple weeks are: * very light and portable. he will use the laptop at home primarily, but he often goes to friends house for gaming sessions and this laptop is a perfect balance of power and portability. * The custom LED keyboard has been much more fun that he imagined. although other gaming machines have this feature, he still gets excited about customizing the patterns and colors. * Great adaptability with ports for everything he needs. He setup his desk with a gaming monitor, keyboard, and mouse. He even paired up his room stereo system via Bluetooth so he can listen to Spotify through it. * Awesome speed and great with multiple apps. The i7, 16GB RAM and 512 SD drive configuration results in very speedy gameplay and stunning graphics. One last thing I will add is that the Best Buy store associate was super helpful and knew the MSI brand and laptop specifications very well. It also helped that he was an avid gamer himself and had spent time with all of the top gaming PCs to help us feel great about our decision.

Well-built, powerful, and portable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop primarily for work in computer graphics programs that I am learning in school, along with some video editing as part of my job there. In pretty much all respects, it has more than met my needs and continues to surprise! PORTABILITY/COMFORT: Being my first "serious" laptop (my only other portable computer prior to this was a hand-me-down netbook), I wasn't sure quite what to expect on the portability front, but the Stealth-Thin gets high marks here. The screen turned out to be just the right size for my purposes, and it folds into quite a thin, relatively lightweight (esp. for a gaming laptop) package for transporting. It's aesthetics are also a definite plus, as I wanted something low-key and not a computer that screamed "I'm a gaming laptop". No complaints here. PERFORMANCE: On the gaming side of things, I haven't had the chance to put the laptop through its paces too much, but have found games like DOOM and Kerbal Space Program to run very smoothly. Graphics programs from 2d (Photoshop, Illustrator) to 3d (Unity, AutoCAD) have, so far, all run great. I was particularly happy to see that video editing in Premiere Pro and After Effects is quite smooth too, even beating out my school's work desktops by a large margin. This thing renders video much quicker than what I'm used to. AUDIO: I have not had much of a chance to really bump the volume up on the laptop's built-in speakers as I normally use Bluetooth headphones, but the few times I did utilize them at home, I was not disappointed. Impressive, especially considering how laptop speakers usually end up sounding. KEYBOARD/OVERALL BUILD: While I don't have a ton of experience with laptop keyboards, this one stands well above any that I've used in overall quality. Inputs are very snappy and have an overall great feel to them, and this "feel" can be extended to the laptop's build as a whole. Pretty much nothing here feels flimsy or compromised on in any noticeable way. Very solid construction all around. In closing, though my experience with laptops is low, I would recommend the GS65 Stealth Thin to anybody who is interested and able to get this machine and doesn't want to compromise.

Strong and Versatile Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Full disclaimer: I am writing this review under the incentive of the headphones reward, but everything I say in this review 100% represents my honest thoughts. Having owned multiple gaming laptops now in the $1000-$2000 range, this is the first that I can say I've been actively impressed by. Below is a list of pros and cons that I've found with the model. I've now been using it for a total of three months. PROS: Powerful laptop that can run most of the games I threw at it in high detail (think Planetside 2, Starcraft 2, heavily-modded Skyrim) at a stable and comfortable 80-90 FPS. It never dipped below 55 FPS in any of the games I've tested it with. External design looks slick while not being overly loud or edgy (looking at you Alienware) so I'm not embarrassed to use it in public. Dragon Center provides good options for different situations. My personal favorite setting is the fan settings so that I can keep the fan quieter but less strong for basic studies and activate Cooler Boost/Turbo Boost (I forget the name) for gaming, which is louder but more effective. (Relatively) affordable price for the value it provides. Size is good for a laptop (not too thick or heavy). Overall a very solid machine that is hard to find many gripes with. CONS: Runs hot, but this is counteracted by activating the boosted fan setting in Dragon Center. Unfortunately, this setting is very loud, so you have to either deal with a warm or noisy laptop while playing intensive games. Build quality could be better, it seems to flex a bit when gripping by the side which worries me. You shouldn't carry a laptop like this anyways, though, so not a big deal. Lots of software comes preinstalled. I've found most of it useful, but I can see where other users might be annoyed by it. OVERALL IMPRESSION: As shown above, it's all-around a great laptop that is a practical and strong option for any situation, professional or gaming. It doesn't come without its cons, but for an upper-$1000 range laptop, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks, and I would go so far to claim that it is better than many of my $2000-$2500 range laptops.

Great thin and light gaming laptop.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Looks: black and gold is amazing Size and Weight: This is crazy small for how much power it has Power: 6 core i7 and a 1070 is a great combo Screen: 144hz is awesome, colors look good as well Cons: Battery: Only getting around 5 hours of battery while browsing the web, as opposed to the 8 described. Bloatware: Lots of unnecessary apps and partitioning out of the box, very easy fix with a clean install. Upgrades: Even though there is an open M.2 slot, it is a pain to get to to add a second drive.

Do not buy.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the matter of a few days the product had a wireless card issue and a display issue. I usually like MSI for their past product quality and would not recommend this to anyone. It could definitely be more durable instead of sacrificing for size.

Outstanding Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop combines power and design without any compromises. The keyboard feels very nice to type on and the RBG makes it stunning in the dark. The screen has great viewing angles and the bezels are almost non-existent on around it. The battery life is great for a gaming laptop, and to top it all off the laptop runs games at ultra setting 150 fps consistently. The only problem with the laptop is how it will get extremely hot under heavy loads, but this problem is easily avoided and isn't a deal breaker.

The One
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my past 5 years, I have bought 5 laptops and this laptop is by far the best. It has the best of each laptop I have own. Great graphics cards, great CPU, with 6 cores This is not my first gaming laptop I have 3 previous, and by far this one is the best, most of my previous gaming laptops were heavy AF, and I couldn't carry them to any place and I did it would be a very uncomfortable, mostly because a 17 inch gaming laptop doesnt fit in most backpacks, and I am also 5 feet 5, why I am saying this? Because Imagine carrying a 17 inch gaming laptop on my your huge backpack, I look like a boy scout. Anyways with this 14 inch laptop I just feel more way more comfortable carrying it around without looking like a gamer. To be honest I already have a gaming laptop probably with storage space on the SSD, the other laptop I have is Aorus x7 but again is a 17 inch laptop and is has a 4k screen with 60 Hz so it is not my favorite, I prefer 1080 resolution with 144Hz, so this laptop is perfect for the price. I have for 6 months mostly playing PUBG, I had to reimage the computer since the two partitions the computer had of 250GB each or something similar did not helped me. I am planning to update the memory to 1TB since what it has right now is not enough. I understand that this laptop doesnt have the original wireless network card and instead it has an intel wireless card. I have no problems while playing online/competitive games. I have not problems with my laptop overheating. Just the feeling of going to an internet cafe, school, work or library that you are using a powerful gaming laptop, and it just look normal a bit professional instead, that feeling is great. The only drawback I see is when I pick up with one hand it just feel so fragile it could break easily but that all, it has work for me and I love it. Best gaming laptop. I would buy it again.

Powerful laptop packaged in a professional look
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start this off by saying I don't know too terribly much about modern laptop specs and details, so after my previous ASUS finally gave out after 6 years I decided to really do some research to ensure I get the best deal for my money. I've always been interested in a powerful rig for gaming but could never afford it. I noticed over and over again the MSI GS65 was topping lists and getting excellent reviews so I found this model on Best Buy and ordered it 2 weeks ago. Two weeks later and I am nothing short of impressed! Earlier reviews mentioned quality concerns with shipping but MSI must've fixed those because mine came in multiple layers of secure packaging and was in pristine condition. The screen is nothing short of beautiful and the keyboard feels just right for daily use typing. I haven't had any problems with the touch pad others have mentioned either! As far as software I did have to take a few minutes to remove some bloatware, no big deal however. The color keyboard is easy to customize and everything so far I've played has been running incredibly smoothly. The only thing I'll mention is the fan noise can get pretty loud but based on prior research I was expecting that and its a tradeoff with thin laptops. Others who have seen it have been incredibly impressed, it simply does not look like a gaming laptop. 4 lbs feels like air, although incidentally I do find myself taking extra precaution for fear of flexing it while moving it around. I wasn't looking for a 10 lb monster laptop that draws the attention of a large room... instead the black and gold design is subdued and very professional looking. Long story short, while I'm still figuring out some of the details regarding the MSI software I would recommend this laptop to anybody looking for something combining the best of both portability and power!

Excellent Build Quality and Perfmorance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop to use for school, as well as gaming and it works flawlessly for both. the build quality is excellent and the performance is outstanding. it does get a little hot under load, but it doesnt get too bad. I play rainbow six siege, fortnite, and counter strike global offensive at over 150 frames with no trouble, and it looks beautiful on the 144 hz screen.

All Around Overperformer in a Portable Package
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GS 65 Stealth Thin is hands down an absolute beast of a machine and I adore the best buy specific configuration. For 2000$ it is kitted out far above its price range. The only main differences are the ssd is not NVME (which is fine as that is a luxury when the normal ssd is so quick as it is) and the wifi card is Intels new spec instead of killer (again its a fantastic card and I primarily use the machine on Wifi). These changes allow it at the price point to still offer the 1070 Max-Q for the configuration and a 512gb m.2 ssd. Now I have used MSI laptops for years, From the apache pro range to the entry level GL series but this is leaps and bounds above it in every way. Build quality is just top notch. The body is aluminum which exudes luxury with the gold accents and nice design choices. It looks like a mixture between luxury and professional but the build quality just exudes a premium nature. The design alone is enough to sell this machine as a premium laptop, its size being not much bigger than some ultrabooks from a few years ago and manages to match that of current generation thin and lights. However unlike those, this packs the 1070 max-q which is just a dream. At the moment I mostly play mechwarrior online with it (a harder title built on cry-engine) and it handles high settings without breaking a sweat, letting its 144hz refresh rate monitor push out those extra frames to really look impressive and smooth. There really are no negatives to this machine. Even with the balanced nvidia settings you can get respectable battery life without being tethered to the wall if your not doing heavy tasks like gaming. Easily getting 4 hours out of light videos and web browsing. It can handle any task you through at it without ever seeming like it has to put in much work to do it.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this for 2,000 doars and it just keeps giving me issues. i'm not sure if it's the laptop i've recieved or any of that but left clicking would make this laptop lag HARD and i'd have to reboot to get it to even resolve. then it would shut down randomly, it was a terrible first intro to this device. i had to hard reset the entire laptop to get it to work fine. it's okay now but i'm still extremely paranoid.

Absolute Nightmare!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My experience with owning this laptop can best be described as terrible. If I could, I would have given this laptop 0 stars. First off, the computer begun to have the keyboard lights go out after about a week and would sequentially crash. I returned this laptop to get an exchange, thinking I was unlucky. However, the "brand new" laptop that I had received already came with physical defects, such as a bent frame right out of the box. Then, roughly six months later, the same issues that appeared that made me return the original started occurring again. Never buying an MSI laptop again

Great all around laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop basically checks every checkbox that I was looking for. Thin, light, powerful enough to edit 4k video and play Overwatch with no lag. Things that I ended up loving more than anticipated were the keyboard and the trackpad. The only thing missing from this laptop that would make it perfect would be a fingerprint scanner and an sd card reader. Oh it gets hot when gaming so be sure to use a table. Good job MSI for making a near perfect laptop.

Worth every penny
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not exactly the best in terms of storage memory, but it is without a doubt fast and can pack a punch. There's a learning curve to understanding the whole ins-and-outs of the laptop to use with full efficiency. But once you do get the hang of it and all its features, you'd understand why it's set as such a high price. Moreover, it's lightweight and long lasting battery power makes it an excellent laptop as well for work and play.

||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for almost a year, but the screen had issues (dead pixels). I blame MSI and Geek Squad. MSI for bad screen quality and build. And then I blame Geek Squad for fixing the screen, but then they break my webcam, then they fixed that but they break the hinge mechanism to turn off my screen when closed. Finally, the very understanding and compassionate assistant store owner allowed me to get store credit on a new laptop. So 1 star for MSI and GEEK SQUAD. However, 5 stars for the customer service from the ASSISTANT MANAGER!
