    I'm in LOVE!

This laptop is exactly what I've been looking for. It's thin and light, doesn't look like a gaming laptop and it's extremely powerful but not over the top. I especially appreciate the Best Buy Model, because they replace an expensive, over the top NVMe SSD with a Sata III SSD to make this laptop cheaper in price while doubling the size of the Hard Drive. By the way, the NVMe SSD doesn't enhance performance in any way for gaming. Look it up, there are quite a few really good you tube videos about the subject. There are plenty of great reviews on this laptop, so I don't think I could add much. I'm just glad I got the Best Buy model, because it was cheaper with a larger SSD without compromising any performance that I would notice.

Bought this laptop basically on a whim when my old Asus crapped out suddenly after 7 years of service. Was looking for something that was light yet powerful and that would last me at least a few years. Was debating between this unit and a Mac and decided on the MSI in the end because you just can't beat the power of this thing! The SSD guarantees a very quick power-on time and the RAM and processor and never too slow for my day-today work. Of note though, I am not much of a gamer. This laptop works beautifully for general office programs, schoolwork, and entertainment (music, movies). It is super light and I love the thin-bezel design which makes it really portable and easy to stash anywhere. The design also has everyone turning their heads asking what kind of laptop I got! My only complaints about this laptop would be the loud cooling system when the computer is working hard as well as the sub-par speaker system that for me lacks depth and bass. The sides of the laptop around the keyboard also get really hot when under heavy load. The laptop also unfortunately doesn't have a numpad which could've come in handy for office work. I'm very picky so I can't give this laptop a perfect score but overall would give it an 85% and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Compared to razer blade and gigabyte aero 15x this laptop offers more performance for the price, only problem I can find with laptop is the fact that it is harder to upgrade the RAM and SSD. Also it would have been nice if it had SD card slot! Other than these it is a perfectly built laptop very powerful, gorgeous display. I honestly didn't expect MSI to be able to design something than can compete with the likes of RAZER, Dell and Apple in term of design, but they did it! In terms of future proofing I must say you have two M.2 slots so you always can add an intel Optane memory for an even faster laptop (Only other laptop brand that has this option is gigabyte and Aorus!) I'm very very satisfied with my purchase!

After my Microsoft Surfacebook crapped out when doing some intense rendering fort a project I was working on, I knew it was time for an upgrade. After doing a lot of searching, I found a laptop that I knew could deliver both on speed and performance as well as fly under the radar as just a regular computer. I am not disappointed. Right out of the box this thing was lightning fast and could do everything I threw at it. The keyboard feels amazing and tactile, the screen is super bright, and the trackpad is quite similar to a Mac's which I find refreshing for a Windows device. So far I am loving it so I would absolutely reccommend it! Also, a side note, the Best Buy staff were extremely helpful in getting this to me.

The MSI GS65 is a freaking beast, the thin bezels, the performance, and the screen is just amazing! I can't even imagine how good this is! MSI did a great job with the noise and fan curves while keeping minimal and fast at the same time. The new Intel 6-Core CPU brings incredible perfomance alongside the 1070 Max-Q GPU, the video rendering and games are just crushed by this baby! The display really makes a difference, the viewing angles and the high refresh brings fantastic response when I play Fortnite and Counter Strike! The build quality and design is what I call different from MSI like their red dragon color design. But this gold accent and black color design shows the true colors of this baby, I give this 5/5!

Great option for gaming study and business

As the best thin book in 2018 from the msi, this gs65 has excellent performance. Some may worry about the noise from the fans. But I think it is completely acceptable. The screen of this laptop is just amazing. With the 144hz and 1070, the graphic is smooth and vivid. However, I also find some disadvantages of this laptop, the power button is unadorned. It feels like a power button of a cheap toy when you try to push it and turn on the laptop. Additionally, the storage is 512g which means you may want to add another ssd or connect your mobile HDD. In all, this laptop is great for gaming. The thin and light design is convenient to carry to school for the study project or business work.

    Amazing Build and Power

I purchased this laptop with a history of large, desktop replacement laptops. I am amazed at the specs, power, and battery life of this device, all at 1/5 the weight of prior devices. The 1070 MaxQ handles all games at Ultra Quality 1080p for a few hours. The thin bezel wastes no space in presentation and form. The keyboard is a smooth. My hands are larger than average, and I never felt my fingers mash up on multiple keys or, worse, themselves. The RGB is a nice flourish of style too! The laptop sound is still laptop. You should not expect a THX swoosh when playing spotify. There is still a modest amount of bass and low end, so it is not a complete fail. Terrific unit overall!

Most of you have been probably searching for a laptop that you can take into your office and not look like a teenager with a gaming rig. This laptop has accomplished this! It does not look like a 20 pound beast but has a nice frame. The feel is sturdy of the laptop but its not a laptop you can throw around. Pros: The screen brightness. The speed. The design and portability. The ability to game without looking like a gaming rig. Cons: The Keyboard is just ok. Definately better then a macbook but not better then a lenovo thinkpad. The trackpad is ok as well. No fingerprint sensor is a bummer but I knew that buying this. Also the power button area feels like your pushing into the frame. To summarize this is a great laptop that with a bit of more effort could be an amazing laptop. Definitely worth buying. I am very critical at this price point of hardware as most people are. A word of note I bought one model of this laptop and there was a buzzing noise in the front and some usb ports were not working plug and play. I took it back and now I am on my second one. So be on the look out for these issues. Best buy has a decent return policy and was able to get another one. So far no issues with this one.

    Outstanding Lightweight Powerhouse

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The GS65 is an absolute powerhouse of a laptop. It can handle anything I throw at it, either gaming or video production. Throttling is not an issue as long as you undervolt the CPU with either Intel XTU or Throttlestop. I was also able to overclock the video card by about 10% without throttling. Build quality is excellent considering how thin and light it is. The keyboard is excellent, but I do miss having a number pad. As long as you take care of the laptop, I can't see any physical problems popping up in the future. Outstanding laptop!

Great performing laptop in a slim form factor.

Build Quality: Good build quality. It is certainly no Macbook Pro but the build materials used are solid. The looks are great but do not scream out I am a gaming laptop. My main gripe with the unit is the flex of the palm area, I wish it could be more solid. Performance: It has no issues handling the latest games, CAD, 3D Building modeling or rendering of short 4k videos of family. It's fan noise is loud but better than my MSI GS63 and MacBook Pro 2014. Battery: The typical work I do on this laptop is CAD or Lightroom/Photoshop with some DaVinci Resolve mixed in, the battery typically lasts 4 to 6 hours. For games it takes about 2 hours to drain the battery on average.

Great laptop for a college student

I bought this laptop to take to college. I can say that I am extremely pleased with the laptop as a whole. The pros, the keyboard is good, its light weight, relatively long battery life (for a gaming laptop), the 144 Hz screen is amazing, and the way that it is silent during normal, non gaming use. The cons, it is not a single piece chassis like a Macbook or a Razer Blade, and this laptop did not include a fingerprint scanner like some review units that were given out early on. Overall I would highly recommend this laptop to any college student that wants to be able to play the newest triple a titles, but doesn't want to carry around a heavy laptop.

Great laptop, needs minor tweaks after purchase

If the goal is to have a laptop that can split between tasks such as college class assignments and still powerful enough to play games this is a great choice. As far as aesthetics go it is a great looking laptop. However, a unibody frame would have looked nicer. The amount of ports and types or ports on the laptop is excellent. Only thing missing is an sd card slot. The port for the charger could be in a better location so as not to be right next to the heat exhaust. There is a notable amount of bloatware on the laptop, but it is simple enough to either do a fresh install of windows or to simply uninstall undesired programs. The laptop, like any gaming laptop, gets very hot when it is doing a demanding task such as playing a high graphics game, but there are remedies that one can do to alleviate this (such as undervolting). The trackpad is decent, but not great. Apple laptops still have the best trackpad. Keyboard is great, but you probably want to buy a keyboard cover so dust/crumbs dont get stuck under the keys and cause problems. Sound quality isnt anything to rave about, but it's decent. Use headphones for best sound quality.

With 16gb of 266mhz memory, i7 Hexacore processor and the nVidia 1070 with 8gb of memory this machine is smokin'! Gets everything done quickly and the graphics are smooth as glass. The 144hz monitor is sharp, bright, and instantaneous. The backlit keyboard has a good, quality feel and has several colorful as well as basic color schemes to choose from. The unit has a solid, well built feel and should hold up well. This is not the least expensive option but there is a ton of value built into this laptop. I should also note that the less than three quarters of an inch thick, 4 1/2 pound computer is extremely portable and easy to take with.

    Great Laptop

I bought this laptop for mainly one reason; it's very lightweight. I used to carry a laptop that was almost twice the thickness and weight, and switching this this laptop, it has reduced a whole lot of strain on my back. However, being lightweight is not the only plus about this laptop. Pros: -Very beefy specs for the size. A 8th gen i7 and a gtx 1070 is almost overkill for most games in mid 2018, and to have it in such a slim device insane -Battery life- i can almost hit 6 hours with regular browser use and no keyboard lighting which is amazing for what I bring it around for (school) - vs. my 3hr battery life on my old laptop. -144hz screen- Too be honest, 144hz is overkill, the most you need is around 100, but why not put the overkill specs into use. -Individual RGB keys- I have never seen this in person before so with my first impressions, i was amazed how smooth the colors were. (I was also surprised to find that each key can be set to macros) -Very fast storage- I can boot my laptop and it literally takes 5 seconds to go from off state to on my destop, which is INSANE, compared to my old laptop which took a minute. -The design- I have always wanted to get a MSI laptop because of the value price but the red and black design was not my taste at all. BUT this new gold accent on black design, I could even say it is a work of art! Cons: -Thermals- Yes, this laptop does run VERY hot under load; however, that is to be expected with such thin laptops. On the plus side, you can customized fanspeeds. -Flipped motherboard- This was a real bummer when i was adding a second SSD into the laptop. it took almost and hour for me to figure out which wires to unplug and which screws to take out (I'm highly unexperienced in taking stuff apart, BUT I did manage to pull it off) Overall I do not see a reason not to buy this laptop. It's thin, it's light, it looks stunning, and it's FAST. Additionally , the price is considerably inexpensive compared to other brands that make thin and light laptops -cough RAZER cough- .

    Pretty Good Gaming Laptop

While I haven't had the opportunity to play too many games on this laptop yet, what I've played has looked amazing. The GTX 1070 Max-Q, while not as powerful as a typical GTX 1070, still packs enough punch to run just about anything in high settings. The card also works great with VR if you're into that. My favorite part is that this powerful laptop doesn't even look like a gaming laptop. It's great for professional settings at the office or game night with friends. It's pretty portable and lightest gaming laptop I've ever had. I look forward to seeing what else this thing can do, but so far everything is pretty good. Fans do get a bit loud and it can get hot, but it's a 4lb gaming laptop... you're going to have to give ground somewhere. And it's not very distracting in my opinion. My only complaint about this laptop is that it's not very easy to upgrade. While the laptop does have an extra M.2 SSD slot, both this and the RAM slots are on the reverse side of the motherboard which requires you to unscrew the motherboard and flip it. Not a difficult process... just a little time consuming.

I bought this laptop for on the go video editing, and for gaming while I'm bored on an airplane. I've been mainly using business/enterprise laptops for a while now, so this is my reintroduction to proper performance. The form factor is travel friendly, but more important- the speed. Wow, working with some HD and 4K video was a pleasure instead of dragging in 4K as I'm used to. While plugged in, you can overclock the laptop for some insanely fast performance, there doesn't seem to be any runaway heat issues, it stays pretty stable. The fans can get a little loud, but nothing very intrusive.

I spent a very long time researching for a good laptop for college. Of course, I wanted it to be capable of gaming. I couldn't be happier. I've loved it so far and it is as good as people say. The look is sophisticated and the performance is great. Pro- great performance, amazing screen, good keyboard for a laptop especially the individual key RGB lighting, battery life is good, and wifi is almost as fast as ethernet. Cons - had some issues with graphics card outputting to other monitors on low resolution, and speakers are on the bottom which can wash out the noise but its still good.

I had never heard of MSI until I started researching gaming laptops and discovered that the awkwardly-named GS65 Stealth Thin was, and is, very highly-regarded, with incredible power, a beautiful screen, and long battery life in a thin, light frame. This expertly-crafted machine can handle anything you can throw at it with ease. The keyboard takes a little getting used to, but that's probably the case with any new laptop. So far, I'm delighted with my purchase and would unhesitatingly recommend this laptop to anyone who wants to game without hauling around a lot of bulk and weight.

The MSI GS65 ST is arguably the best laptops you can buy in its price range. The Stealth Thin is very sleek and professional looking which makes it perfect for school, work, and gaming. It packs tons of performance into such a small frame, and the only drawback I have noticed from that is the heat and fan noise after an hour or two of playing graphic intensive games. This laptop definitely beats out the Razer Blade 15, mainly because it costs about $500 less and you're less likely to buy a defective laptop (Some models from the first batch of Razer Blade 15s had issues).
