My daughter is home schooled and in Grade 10 this year. She needed a new computer. I figured this one should be good enough to last her a few years. Turns out … this thing is awesome. Fast Fast Fast compared to her old computer. This computer just feels .. High End Solid. Definitely recommend anyone with the cash to purchase this. For both School/Gaming

Powerful laptop, still in love with the design!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently purchased this laptop from best buy, and I couldn't be happier with it. I wanted a laptop that could play the games I like to play but that was also portable enough that I didn't feel like I was lugging it around anytime I brought it somewhere, and this product really fits the bill. It's lightweight, it runs smoothly, and it looks good. Like, really good. I had it in my mind that powerful gaming laptops were always extra large and kind of clunky looking, and that they HAD to be if they were going to be able to run the titles I like to play, but I was wrong. This laptop is light and sleek and you couldn't tell it was a gaming laptop just by looking at it unless you were already familiar with MSI being a gaming-oriented company. There are only a couple of cons for me that I've encountered, although they're far outweighed by the pros. For one thing, battery life could be better, but to be honest I always have it plugged in if I'm gaming anyway so that's hardly an issue, and the battery life is still not too bad as is. secondly, as other reviewers have mentioned, the trackpad isn't amazing, but I usually always have my mouse connected anyways so again that's mostly a non-issue. On the whole, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I wanted a gaming laptop that I could also use for work and for writing, that wasn't massive and bulky and weird looking, and the MSI GS65 has given me everything I wanted and more. Oh, and did I mention how great the design is? because this laptop looks incredibly cool, and I continue to be amazed at how lightweight and sleek it is. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for this type of laptop.

Its got power and you dont need to worry about games looking bad. This thing is built nice! i love the copper trim around the lid. Its got vents for days~! top and bottom~! you can even see the copper in the side vents. Just looking at this laptop makes me feel happy at the build quality. I know it has a sweet 1080p 144Hz screen with a GTX 1070 but, the laptop its self is great looking!

Astonishing product with endless functionality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly this laptop came with way more than I expected and overall I would certainly recommend this product if it is within your price range. I am a student about to go into college and enjoy playing video games in my free time, something that this laptop does exceedingly well. Keyboard lights are something I had never factored into a purchase but after buying this product I never want to go back to a conventional keyboard. The Dragon Center program that comes installed on the computer provides the user with everything needed to fully customize your keyboard, display, and video card preferences (to an extent). Many features that weren't made apparent in the product description is how accessible the computers functions are. To change your keyboard lights from their typical setting to an equalizer for your audio, all you have to do is open Dragon Center, then your keyboard settings, then simply turn the EQ on. The preset display modes are great for using your computer in different environments and also come preset. Lastly my favorite part about this product is that the webcam can be disabled on a hardware level with a single button, preventing any unwanted programs from accessing it. Overall this is an amazing product that will last for many years to come. The graphics can handle newly released games at maximum quality and the entire device weighs under five pounds. The gold MSI logo and accents provides a nice sleek look that looks even better when you factor in the lighted keyboard and thin bezel. If this product is within your price range I would absolutely recommend purchasing it because every dollar invested will get its worth.

Best thin gaming laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is honestly one of the better thin laptops I've seen. The design on this doesn't look bright, childish like the other gaming laptops. This laptop looks and feels more premium. Its amazing how a computer this thin could run almost all of the latest games at a decent frame rate with high settings. The only downside is the how hot it gets after a few hours of gaming, but what could you expect from a thin beast of a laptop.

Stunning in all areas
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for college because I am a pc gamer but I also want sleekness and portability and this laptop excels in all those areas. The performance is exactly what I wanted and I am able to take it on the go to class. Also, the salesman at best buy helped a lot with my decision and didn't push me to make a purchase which was nice.

Excellent Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a good gaming laptop that has great performance but also something that i could use for school. At first, i was so scared of spending so much money on this laptop and it turned about to be worth it. Most gaming laptops now a days are heavy but this is one of the most lightest laptops i have ever held and its perfect to carry between school and work. The design is beautiful and the graphics are phenomenal.

Super thin gaming laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I switched from an msi gt62 and compared to this one is so huge. this laptop has everything you need for gaming and permormance. in addition i bought a razer core x to add some juice on the gpu. The only cons are the temp. which of course are higher then an old laptop but soon i will apply the metal liquid even is is risky. overall i would reccomend it and the bestbuy option is much cheaper then the other shop.

Better than the competition
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Background: Yes, I have considered other options such as the Blade 15 and Aero 15X. My decision was based on price, quality and performance. I also had the Blade 15 which allowed me to compare it with the GS65. Here are my thoughts... Price: For $1999, this is the best bang for the back thin bezel laptop you can get that is lightweight and has a GTX 1070 Max Q. For the same spec, you would have to pay $2400 for a Blade 15. That's a $400 difference. Plus with the Blade 15 QC issues, that's 2399 + warranty which will end you at $2600-2800 Quality: Yes, people have been complaining about the creaks on the GS65. But those are minor and can be fixed easy. Compare it to the Blade 15 that died on me in 3 days while installing MS Office. To be honest, the Blade 15 looks sexy and nice. Some people even mention and suggest to "just get a warranty". However, if you are paying for a $2000+ premium laptop. You should be getting premium quality. The GS65 has handled it's fair share of beating as I use it for same day video editing and the occasional LAN party. Performance: With a GTX 1070 Max Q and an 8th gen i7; which is like 3 leaps ahead of the 7th gen. The GS65 handles everything I throw at it from editing videos in Adobe Premiere, even playing the latest AA games. Things I don't like about the GS65: - Inverted keyboard makes upgrading almost impossible - Intel AC9560 needs to be modified from 802.11AC to 802.11B/G to be reliable. - Keyboard font looks childish Other than that, the GS65 is an awesome machine that is a keeper.

MSI GS65 - Best Laptop at a Great Price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.MSI GS65 Thin Review for BestBuy.com I've owned a lot of laptops, but this is the best. The MSI GS65 is a thin (near desktop replacement) laptop. I use mine for video production and it chews through 4K video production through Adobe Premiere like a beast! I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for near desktop replacement level hardware for on the go. It runs about 90% (CPU) and 75% (GPU) of what a desktop i7 8700k (CPU) and GTX 1070 (GPU) performance. A laptop that puts out that much performance is a great laptop! Below are my thoughts with Pros and Cons. Most of the Cons can easily be resolved. Pros: ---------------- - Thin - Fits 14" cases - Mostly Metal Frame (Bezel around the screen is the only part that isn't metal) ---------------- - Quiet - Word Processing or Web Browsing Silent - Even when rendering fan noise is not whiny ---------------- - Performance - Adobe Suite - Easily handles my 4k workload - Gaming - No game yet has stopped this computer! - Lots of Air Flow for Laptop stand with a fan. ---------------- - Screen - I've missed refresh rates higher than 60hz. - It takes a while to get used to but it feels so nice on your eyes. - "A monitor that's like a pillow for your eyes." ---------------- - Keyboard - Layout - Great layout with only full size buttons. - Great feel and little to no learning curve. - Large keys are a plus! - Lighting with Function Keys - Lighting is customizable and bright - Holding down FN displays FN hot key buttons in red. ---------------- - Ports - This thing is loaded down with ports. - Once you plug in a mouse, two external hard drives, you still have room for two or three monitors, or a USB 3.1 device. ---------------- - Ventilation and Fans - The top, sides, and bottom of the laptop where all the heat generating parts are have perforated metal to allow air flow. - Nice pattern used. - Once high quality thermal paste is applied, idle temps are in the low 40c (Mid 30c with fan booster) and it hovers around 75-85c under load. - Fan noise is quiet and even on full blast you can mask the sound with a good pair of headphones. ---------------- - Battery life - Actually has a battery life! - 5-7 hours in practical use. You could probably get more if you dropped monitor refresh rate to 60hz. Cons ---------------- - Audio Driver Install Loop Issue - Audio would cut in and out when I plugged headphones in and I chocked it up to an Audio Driver - When I went to reinstall the drivers from MSI, they require old drivers to be removed but... old drivers are put in the system and cannot be uninstalled by easy means. - Thus an infinite loop of driver package uninstalling, restart, finding drivers installed, trying to uninstall them again... - Just stupid. ---------------- - BIOS update through USB Stick - It is 2018... why do I need a USB stick to update my BIOS? - Fan turns on for seemingly random work loads - Installing Programs will make the fans ramp up. - This is fixed my applying high quality thermal paste. ---------------- - Power light - It's weirdly brighter than any thing else on the keyboard. - It is used to differentiate between the two graphics cards, white being Intel GPU and orange being nVidia GPU. - Easily fixed with some LED blackout stickers. ---------------- - Poor Thermal Paste applied to CPU and GPU - Out of the box Cinebench R15 would thermal throttle right away at 90c - This can easily be fixed by applying your own (TUTORIALS ONLINE) but again... it's 2018! ---------------- - Killer Ethernet Driver - Killer Control Center had 'Advanced Stream Detect' enabled by default. This setting killed my upload speed. - ASD enabled: 200mbps down / .25 mbps up - ASD disabled: 200mbps down / 10 mbps up - I recommend to diable ASD as soon as you get setup.

Pretty good but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have been looking for a new pc for quite some time now. I originally wanted to build a desktop due to the novelty and customization options but ended up settling for a laptop since I am still in school and use it in class a lot. I opted for the MSI Stealth Thin over the MSI Stealth Pro because of the 144hz display and more powerful gpu. I use the laptop for light gaming and 3D rendering and it excels at both of these, for example, max settings in GTA online I am easily pulling 80 fps. While playing more gpu intensive games for extended periods of time the chassis does become pretty warm, but it isnt burning my palms. The next thing I want to talk about is the fans. While idling the 2 gpu fans remain off and the cpu fan sits around 2000 rpm, which is hardly noticeable. While gaming the fans whir up and make a little more noise but I mostly use headphones while gaming so it isnt a problem. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because after owning the laptop for only 1 month an issue came about with the fans. Just last night I was playing a game of League of Legends (not gpu intensive at all) and felt the laptop start vibrating madly. Took my headphones off and noticed one of the fans on the gpu side was making a horrendous noise and vibrating a lot. Opened dragon center and the cpu fan read 5000 rpm (fairly normal for what i was doing) and the gpu fan read 800 rpm (red flag). After messing with the fan settings for about 30 seconds I decided to reboot because I couldn't figure it out and didnt want to potentially further damage any hardware. After the reboot the gpu fan is functioning perfectly fine but now the cpu fan makes a ticking noise. As if the plastic fan blades are rubbing some other internal component. Noise completely disappears around 3500 rpm but anywhere else it is noticeable. So as I am typing this review, the cpu fan is sitting at 1990 rpm and making a not so loud but definitely noticeable ticking. Very dissapointed as I purchased this laptop on Aug. 8th 2018 and it is now Sept. 6 2018. Not even a full month. Thankfully I bought the protection plan through best buy so I will be taking it in shortly. Will possibly change my review to 5 stars if and when they can get this fixed.

great overall every task computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to come from the stubborn traditional desktop background. I don't ever think of to play games on my ultrabooks. Gaming laptops have always been expensive for that big bulky 9 lbs machine. Until this year with all these great 4-5 lbers. This laptop is amazing and will be replacing my desktop and ultrabooks. I'm also happy that BestBuy carries this and with the 1070MAXQ at 2K, it's a great deal.

Fast and Looks Sleek
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to purchase a gaming computer that was not too bulky and was able to fill my daily needs as well as casual gaming. I am happy to say that this computer fills those needs. It is around 4.5lbs and can handle most games available. The resolution is nice able to play games with high fps. The keyboard takes some getting used to, but overall it is a great device and would highly recommend it.

Great Gaming Laptop (my first one)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am overall very impressed with this laptop. I haven't met a game yet that it cant run on high/ultra settings. It looks great, the 144hz monitor is amazing. One disclaimer is the fans run loud but nothing louder then other gaming laptops. The only thing that i've found about this laptop is the cpu can run kind of hot but thats nothing some tweaking can fix. Overall love this laptop so far.

Great Laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My gaming PC died and I had been looking at replacing it. My wife and I also do some software development and had been using a surface. I spent some time looking at Razer Laptops and had decided that replacing the desktop with a gaming laptop would be the way to go. It would be easier to move in the house as well as take to LAN parties. It would also give a better platform for development than the surface and its type cover. (Not to knock the Surface 3, it is my favorite tablet/ultrabook out there) I spent some time looking at Razor before coming across the MSI GS65. Personally I think the GS65 is much better looking than the razors with its black and copper trim. Also you get alot more for your money with the MSI verses any of the Razor laptops. So far, it has performed flawlessly. As others mention there is some work on setup to get windows updated and get some of the bloatware removed. The HDD isn't huge at 512GB and comes split into two partitions. Everything else about the laptop is great. I don't think you can go wrong with this one!

Best Bang for Your Buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This gaming laptop is perfect is you want to be able to game, video edit and stream. While doing your other everyday stuff. Thin, Lightweight, Powerful and Beautiful. You can't go wrong with this. I opted for this version because you only need the 32GB of RAM if you're doing some crazy video or photo editing and rendering. Glad i went with this laptop instead of the Dell XPS 15.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop about a month ago and its one my favorite purchases. This laptop is very portable with its light weight and sleek design. It's also very fast and loads up the internet in less than a second. Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop after careful research...and I must say that it is by far one of the best gaming laptops that I have owned. If you've never owned a gaming laptop before I recommend downloading a spec software to monitor the heat output. She runs warm, but that's ok. I ordered a cooling station and that should be perfectly fine. This is, hands down, an amazing laptop

MSI Stealth Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just picked mine up yesterday and it's very legit. From the aesthetics to the raw power, it's amazing. I have a custom gaming rig (desktop) and this thing almost surpasses ops in certain aspects. The software for customization is pretty self explanatory. It's quiet, sleek, powerful, and everything I was hoping for. Would recommend to anyone undecided with some competitors.
