I love the size of this computer. This computer ROCKS. I enjoy the gaming it brings, but also more importantly the power it can bring to GIS rendering of data. I manage large data sets and this computer cuts my production time WAY down. Work and play can go hand in hand very nicely.

Quality Gaming Laptop with Business Looks

The laptop performs extremely well, with high build quality and killer looks (doesn't even look like a gaming laptop from the outside). The keyboard feels great, and the touchpad does its job at the least. Extremely light and portable, great for students who like to game on the side.

This laptop is currently the most powerful laptop available in the tightest package. As an Engineer, performance and portability are paramount and I don't believe I could do better. It doesn't get better for the money in those categories and it also has the looks to match. Bonus!

Not only is the laptop wonderful, the sales experience was excellent. It runs all the latest games and Creative Clouds apps run extremely fast. It's a lot of power in a little package and you really don't have to sacrifice graphics for portability these days. Highly recommended!

I am an architecture student and finding a high performance laptop that can handle these programs was extremely important. It is very lightweight and sleek looking, which is very nice compared to other bulky laptops that weigh so much. Very happy with my purchase so far.

This laptop has exceeded all of my expectations. I purchased it as an upgrade to an older MSI Stealth I had and it blows that version out of the water. It is very fast and it's battery life is unbelievable!

No other laptop compares in overall quality. The keyboard feels nice and responsive. The panel is bright and vibrant and it performs like a beast. The software for monitoring and changing aspects of the laptop just need some fine tuning over the next couple of months.

I love this machine. It's thin, fast, powerfull, what more could you expect from a gaming laptop? I use it not only for gaming but also for working with multiple virtual machines at the same time and they run like a charm. I think it's my best purchase this year.

    Great Laptop with some caveats

This laptop has been great for the 5 years I have had it for. The CPU and GPU have been great for gaming, video editing, 3d modeling, and virtual machines. I did have to replace the fans after 3 years of use as the bearings gave out and started rattling. Considering it all this laptop has been great, and I expect it to last a few more years.

So far, the laptop has performed exceptionally well, everything runs extremely fast, it can handle anything I throw at it while running a load of other programs in the background. It has been perfect for 3D modeling and CAD (Computer-aided design) programs.

It's my first gaming laptop and so far I'm pleased with it. I really like that it's thin and yet so powerful. Runs all of my games smoothly. The golden edges give it a nice touch and it's great to have the possibility to customize the keyboard colors.

Fantastic, Powerful Laptop with Few Cons (for me)

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Background: I do a lot of design work (civil engineering) as well as gaming, and have a desktop computer that can handle everything I need, but I've been increasingly mobile over the last couple years. So I was looking for a laptop that could handle everything I throw at it and then some for at least the next few years, have decent battery life, and be actually portable (as opposed to most gaming laptops) so it wasn't painful to walk around with. In short, this laptop absolutely fits that bill. There's a couple Cons, for sure, but they didn't ruin it for me. So here's a quick run down below: Pros: -Actually lightweight -Decent battery, especially for a gaming laptop (5-7 with light office work and low screen brightness, but still 4-5 for design work, which is perfect for me) -Ridiculously powerful. Seriously, out of the box, I put on Witcher 3, Total Warhammer II, and a couple other less impressive games, and it ran everything on Ultra flawlessly, which is still astounding to me for such a lightweight laptop. This will absolutely continue to run any game for the next 3-4 years at a minimum on very high settings. -Might just be me, but I really like the keyboard. The feel of typing is great, and the placement of the FN key on the right side, *actually next* to all the buttons that use it (like changing brightness and volume, especially), allows me to quickly access those secondary functions with one hand. So that was easy to get used to, as I've usually seen that key placed on the left side of keyboards/laptops I've had. Also, not as important to me, but: the Steel Series software to control the keyboard lighting is very intuitive, accessible, and play around with. -Doesn't look like a gaming laptop. -Amazing screen. I've never been a snob for refresh rates or "True color" monikers, but this screen has *really* impressed me. For videos and video games, it's noticeable, but even tasks as simple as scrolling seem to happen more smoothly. Perhaps this is just expectation bias, though. Cons: -As others have said, this does indeed come with a lot of bloatware. Knowing this, though, I opened the package, and almost immediately did a fresh install of Windows that cleaned away a lot of it. Still spent another hour or so of uninstalling the still-installed games and other random software, and then re-downloading the major drives from the MSI product page (this includes the software for the keyboard, graphics cards, etc., and Windows will provide a list of the major programs not re-installed on your desktop after the fresh install). So it was just a couple hours of preparation after opening that isn't ideal, but wasn't a huge deal. -Again, as others have mentioned, this does indeed get very hot under heavy load (for me, specifically, this was while running the aforementioned games). You can hear the fans start blaring, but there are parts of the laptop that are uncomfortably hot anyway. The fan noise is louder than average, I guess, but that didn't really bother me so much as concern for overheating; especially as I get into summer months without air conditioning. I will likely invest in a laptop cooling pad for this if and when I start doing more heavy gaming on it (though I'll likely just use my desktop for this, anyway, which has similar specs but no heating problem). Perhaps for longer work/travel trips where I'll only have my laptop, though. Certainly the best laptop I've ever had, and it better have been for the price. But I most definitely expect this laptop to last for the next 5 or so years at a minimum, for work and play, so hopefully its endurance is as good as its sprint.

Just got the laptop today but I've had my eye on this unit ever since it released. Honestly haven't wanted a gaming laptop that badly until I saw the design and specs of this one! I'll go ahead and list the pro's and con's (personal opinion). Pros: Black and Gold design RGB Keyboard GREAT Specs Nice slim laptop and charger Amazing screen with almost no bezel Cons(all probably just preferences) No numerical keypad (and I love the design of this too much to get the GS63) No fingerprint scanner on power button Would have liked another thunderbolt display

Absolutely in love with my MSI GS65 and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a high value/ bang for you buck laptop. Which may sound odd for a $2,000 laptop, but for the hardware this comes with (Best Buy Version) compared to other laptops in the 2,500-2,700 price range it holds true. I actually got mine on sale for $1,850 which was a plus. I am a Mechanical Engineering student at UF currently and am starting to getting into PC gaming and the laptop handles everything I throw at it from running my CAD software, to GTA V and Fortnite on maxed out settings, and while being light enough to bring to class everyday and having good battery life. I am coming from using Macbook Pros since 2010 so I was a little hesitant to switch to Windows, but for the value and performance and the usable ports this laptop has it was a no-brainier.

This laptop has a very nice look, and it is very thin for a gaming laptop, so you can carry it around very easily. It has very nice keyboard, and it can run games with high fps and decent graphic. I would really recommend other people to buy it.
