I did a lot of research on laptops for college. After a few days of thinking it over. The msi caught my eye and attention with it’s sleek design and surprising performance and substantially good battery life. I would recommend this to everybody.

This laptop captivated everything I needed in a gaming laptop. It has powerful components, enough to run almost any game on Ultra. It has a sleek beautiful black and gold design. And it is lightweight and low profile for travel. Beautiful laptop!

PhD student approved. Keyboard is a dream

I am a PhD student who purchased this laptop for portable data analysis and for heavy writing (no gaming, go figure.) While I'm slightly embarrassed for having paid for a keyboard light show, I would buy it again for work or play. It has the best feeling, most responsive keys that I have ever encountered. All other keyboards now feel like garbage to my spoiled fingers. My only two complaints are a lack of 10-key, which could fit if the keyboard was designed differently, and a less than intuitive set-up process. If you are an Alt-tabber, know that the key is pretty far left and not well placed for thumb use. I'd reverted to more finger pad usage. Despite minor drawbacks, I anticipate any non-gamer with a need for power would love this laptop. Just don't forget to turn off the silly rainbow lights before school or work.

    So far it's been great!

I was really happy to get this laptop at a cheaper price than the one I was looking at AND with a better graphics card! So far gaming has been incredible! I love playing Overwatch on this machine. Easily looks great in Ultra mode at 1080p, 60fps. It also appears to run my Adobe products on it well enough too. I wish I had a bigger hard drive for all my video space, but I understand what this laptop is typically used for. My only qualms with it so far is the "Dragon Center" that comes with MSi. It doesn't work. It wouldn't open when I first logged on, and then after the update it was being stubborn. Windows had a hard time uninstalling it. We'll see if it acts any better after a fresh install. I love playing with the lighting on the keyboard as well. Feels really great, and customizable. I can't wait to see where I take this laptop!

    Great after some modifications

After receiving my MSI GS65 Stealth Thin, I made sure to remove all the bloatware that came along with it. After doing this, the laptop runs real smooth. The 144hz display is probably the best thing about it. My previous laptop had a number pad but I really like the extra space that the msi gs65 has without it. I'm already used to not having a number pad after only a day of using the laptop. There is a slight issue with some stuttering that happens every time it switches from the dedicated intel gpu to the Nvidia gpu but it's not that frequent. Other than the infrequent microstutters, the laptop works great and can run most of the games that I play!

    Best Gaming Laptop

I recently purchased the GS65 from Bestbuy and so far I am very happy. In my opinion, it is the best gaming laptop on the market for someone, like me, who also appreciates portability, battery life and all-around usability. I wanted a gaming laptop that I could also use for everyday "laptop" tasks such as browsing the web, watching youtube and writing product reviews online. That means it had to have better than 2 hour battery life. Sure, there are more powerful gaming laptops with a 1080 or even a non-MaxQ 1070 but none of them have the overall versatility of this laptop. While gaming, I'm hitting 65-70 FPS on PUBG with Ultra settings. fThis is far better than my i5-6500K, RX480 desktop that I recently sold which got about the same FPS but with low settings. I'm by no means picky on FPS. I'm pretty happy with 45FPS or more but its nice to know this laptop can handle it and will likely keep me happy many years down the road. On the flip side, when I'm not gaming, the battery life is around 6-7 hours with battery saver mode on for browsing the web, watching videos etc. I also always keep the keyboard backlighting. On top of all that, the keyboard is great. The response is crisp and it feels well made. The per-key lighting is great for customization as well. The other detail that I really enjoy is the design of the entire laptop. Its very thin and lightweight. The bezel is tiny so it really feels like they maximized the space on the screen and really could not have made this laptop any smaller. With all the good stuff, there are a few things to be aware of before buying this laptop. First, the laptop comes loaded with bloatware and the drive is partitioned a strange way. I did a fresh install of Windows 10 and was able to free up a lot of space and I got rid of the separate partitions. I believe that the stock software took up about 60GB of space and when I did a fresh install, it only took up about 25GB. An extra 35GB or so is crucial when the SSD is only 512GB. Also, from the factory there is one partition of 175GB and another of right around 300GB (where windows is installed). I didnt like this because I didnt want to have to create new folders for steam games when my 175GB partition filled up. Again, this was all easily fixed by doing a clean install of Windows 10 and downloading the software/drivers from MSI website. The only other thing that is a negative is that the whole motherboard has to come out if you want to add another m.2 NVME SSD or upgrade the memory. This doesn't necessarily bother me too much, but if you are not comfortable with taking out the motherboard, but you are wanting to upgrade those components, then you may not like that aspect. Couple of final things to note about the laptop itself. FIrst, the SSD slots is that one of the m.2 slots is SATA/NVME compatible while the other is NVME only. This Best Buy version has a SATA SSD so if you want to add to the other slot it has to be the NVME spec. Second, you may notice at times the battery only charges to 90% and you will see a note about it not charging. Just know that this is intentional and it prevents the battery from being overcharged if you like to keep it plugged in all the time. This is to keep the battery cycles down and thus extending the overall lifespan of the battery.

    Fantastic, Fast, Sleek

In all honesty, when I started the week looking for a new laptop I figured I would walk away with a new Macbook Pro. The Specs I needed were clear for my school. I needed a laptop that could deliver 16GB of RAM, at least a 512Gb SSD, and an I7 processor that would maintain 2GHZ of speed. Now with those specific requirements there are only a few laptops for the job. You can sacrifice gaming ability and get yourself a middle of the road laptop for less money, or also sacrifice gaming capability and go for the macbook pro for more money. So I ended up getting the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin. Let me tell you, this was the right choice. Simply put, having an additional on-board graphics card that is oculus ready and a, simply put, fantastic keyboard made the everything so much easier for me. I would have to say that my studies, including programing, and word processing have never been easier to accomplish. Not to mention the aesthetic of customization RGB. The Built in SteelSeries Keyboard is fantastic. Now for the fun part. Games are a breeze for this beast. I've been able to throw anything at this laptop and it runs with no hesitation, the graphics card on board this laptop actually outperform my desktop GPU I have in my PC now. With the 144hz monitor, games like counterstrike go, and Rainbow 6 Siege are just a breeze to play. Something to note for anybody who would consider themselves an audiphile, the built in sound card is actually pretty phenonenal and can easily power most high end Sennheiser headphones I have.

I bought this laptop to bring with me to college. It is small and lightweight so I can easily fit it in my backpack. It runs games just as well as my desktop back home. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the screen looks amazing.

I was debating getting this laptop for a while and I am kicking myself for not getting it sooner. It is lightweight and super thin. I use this laptop for work and have multiple 3D modeling programs open at any point of the day. This laptop is incredibly powerful despite the small footprint, I can not recommend it enough! I also easily max out the 144 Hz screen on most games, display is absolutely gorgeous too.

Works smoothly and lightweight. Have had no complaints after using for games hours at a time. It does overheat a little but it is manageable. If you are looking to play games moderately and do work then this is the computer for games.

The laptop is very fast and keyboard is responsive with good key spacing and solid feel. The area around the power button that is used for additional cooling is a little bit flexible, but that is about the only complaint I have.

I bought this after my 2012 ASUS G75VW finally went kaput, really impressed with the size and speed of the computer, my only complaint would be the extreme heat this thing generates during game play. I have to resort to putting a box in between myself and the computer when its on my lap but other than that its great

I'm upgrading from my old MSI I've had for 5 years now. This computer is FAST, with it's 6 core processor. Setting it up was a breeze and bloatware was minimal. I'm benchmarking and playing some games now, but I'm loving it.

    Solid Gaming Laptop. Decently Portable.

This laptop is a beast in specs and performance. From a gaming perspective, it's got everything I need. Because everything about it is already pretty solid, I'll just make a list of gripes (basically nice-to-knows for those of you considering this): - Doesn't charge with lightning. Power adapter input is on the right, so it may interfere with your mouse/other I/Os, or may block your fan. - Power brick is a brick. Bring a separate bag to hold your power brick (j/k). - Separate headphone/mic jacks. This is a personal preference, and in my case this is a con. - Keyboard presses could be a little deeper. It's got one of the better feeling (more satisfying) keyboards, but a slightly deeper press would be perfect. - Power button light is like a flashlight in your eyes.

Everything I needed in a laptop for school

I searched for ages for a new laptop for the specifications and the price I wanted to finish my college degree in mechanical engineering. I needed a fast portable but somewhat professional laptop. I was elated when I found the Stealth Thin. Yes, the price is quite staggering for a college student. However, there is not much this laptop cannot do and I am now the envy of all of my colleagues. The download speeds are fast, the 3D graphics for CAD software are incredible and not glitchy. In addition, it can run heavy coding programs with ease. Not to mention its great gaming capabilities. Highly satisfied with my purchase it makes me actually want to do my homework because it does not freeze or bug out when I try to compute large equations or run analysis.

    Best laptop Ive ever had

I have always been an apple fanboy but just last year after they dropped the aux cord, I dropped apple. This has been the best laptop ever, I can finally play games! It is also perhaps the thinnest laptop i looked at because I need this for uploading high quality photos on the go. I can use it as a second or third screen. Also It will run my oculus rift so I can bring the virtual world over to my friends house! sooo cool you have to try it. The light up keyboard is awesome but unfortunately you cannot customize it beyond the 10 pre-programmed designs. Sound is great. Screen is amazing with the thin bezels and 4k res. If you dont have much need for storing music or photos in your actual laptop, this is the right purchase for you.

    Sleek for a Gamer Computer

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm a landscape designer, and not a gamer, so I spent a lot of time trying to find a laptop computer that was good-looking, powerful, and thin; something that I would feel comfortable showing my clients 3D visualizations with. Gamer laptops tend to look flashy, and some are very boxy - my selection criteria was very limiting. I think this computer is better looking than the Razer blade, which was the other laptop I was considering. The steel body is elegant, and I'm sure I can cover up the MSI logo with a sticker of my company logo. The screen is great, it's powerful and fast, and exactly what I was looking for! Only issue is that I wish I had more like a TB or more of space, but I'm getting a NAS to deal with that, which is probably for the better anyway.

    What a great gaming laptop

I have a PC that’s pretty decked out with 32GB of RAM and a 1080ti and I feel like in some ways this laptop runs better. The frame rates are insane that I’m getting on Fortnite and Overwatch (180+) with very high settings. And it’s not like the laptop is trying to blow up. With a cooling mat, it barely gets hot during a full-on session. I love the screen. The 144hz display looks fantastic. No complaints about the keyboard. The trackpad is just ok. And the design is lacking. Looks like it’s trying to be elegant but gamey af the same time. Kind of like wearing a tuxedo t-shirt. I wish it was about $200 cheaper but i don’t know how they’d have been able to do it with this feature set. It’s pretty decked out. Overall, I am thrilled with it.
