Powerful.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am absolutely in love with the new design of the GS65. It screams high end without all the flash typically found in other gaming laptop/peripherals. In terms of performance, with each use this laptop continues to surprise me. It is able to just blow away any game I throw at it. The 144hz screen is just plain magic.

Good Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop to replace my year old laptop which was not purchased with going into school for engineering being taken into consideration. I have not had the time to open any of my CAD software on this one yet, but it runs games my old laptop couldn't even launch well. A big step up from my previous laptop.

Awesome Gaming Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did a lot of research on this laptop and decided to bite the bullet and try it out. I have no regrets, this thing is bad to the bone. Plays any game I've thrown at it on high or ultra settings, fans aren't too loud, great rig. The only weak point I see is the track pad, but I rarely use it for anything anyway.

Great Rig!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first gaming laptop purchase. I have a gaming PC that i built and it runs great, I just wanted to have the portability, and this thing delivers. Out of the box, 0 issues. I mainly play HoTS, and i have been playing it over wifi, with no problems. Sleek design. And it just does what i need it to do!!

The Beauty and the Beast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has it all - convenience, aesthetic, and the beast within. The casing of the laptop is minimalistic and clean, with the most notable feature being the gold trimming around the sides and the golden MSI logo on the top, both adding a high-grade appeal to the laptop. It is light and very, very thin, yet I haven't found myself truly minding the complaints about the case flexibility and build quality. The only noticeable flex is when I apply a good deal of pressure around the keyboard - but no one should be putting that much pressure on the computer to begin with, so nothing I see as substantial. Convenience was also a big pro to the laptop, as all drivers were pre-installed and the setup was very easy (literally only took me minutes). Only part that I was a little picky about was, as other comments mention, the touchpad. There were a few times where the touchpad has caused me trouble, and it really is the most noticeable flaw of the system. However, all in all, it is a very nitpick item to criticize when it comes to this beautiful piece of machinery.

a powerful laptop that doesn't look atrocious
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.*MSI is offering a SteelSeries Siberia 200 Headset for this review. In no way is that influencing my overall rating of this laptop. Sleek, lightweight(for a 15") and professional looking. Most gaming laptops look cheesy and bulky. The gold and black are a nice combo. It does show fingerprints pretty badly though. With some effort you can flex the machine and you'll notice some creaking here and there but over all in my opinion the build is sturdy enough. I'm thinking they built it this way to keep cost and weight down. I would like to see a magnesium alloy like the Surface Book or some other lightweight durable metal. They have a version of this device on Amazon with NVME for the people who want the best of the best. I couldn't justify the additional $500 as this device is already too powerful for what I do. I'm pretty sure it can be upgraded if need be as well. Screen resolution and brightness are great. The 144Hz makes gaming and regular use look sooo smooth. The sound quality is awesome for a laptop, try the Nahimic sound test! Plenty of ports for external cameras and headsets.(The camera is activated by pressing the Fn and F6 keys, otherwise it will not work) Keyboard feels nice. I wish they used a professional looking font for the lettering on the keys. And the trackpad is so so. The left and right click are very low and when clicking around it's easy to move too far up on the trackpad and get a stiff unresponsive press. Battery life is pretty decent. If you are gaming for a long amount of time obviously it will drain pretty quickly but for normal use it'll get the job done. If you are away from home for an extended amount of time I would still bring a charger just in case. Overall I love this lightweight, powerful, sleek laptop. You could build a really good gaming desktop for this price but if you prefer mobility and freedom, you definitely get what you pay for with this device. When choosing this device I was deciding between the Surface Book 2, and Razer 15". All of these have their own unique attributes but I decided on this because for the price/power/quality it suited me best. Hope this helps someone. Enjoy!

Very Good Laptop With Some Drawbacks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most previously I had a custom built desktop (i7-4770k and gtx 970) and a 2015 MacBook Pro 15". This laptop is meant to be a desktop replacement as I go off to college. Here are my pros and cons: ---Pros--- -Very nice and smooth screen -Small bezels with camera on top -Fastest processor and graphics card for a laptop this size -Spacious keyboard that feels very nice to type on (I like this better than my MacBook's keyboard, but I still prefer my mechanical desktop keyboard) -Looks sleek and not overly flashly -Lightweight -Good selection of ports ---Neutral--- -This model comes with 2x of 8gb ram (16gb total), which supposedly offers better performance compared to 1 stick of 16gb, but if you wanted to upgrade to 32gb you would have to completely replace the ram. 16gb should be enough for most people though. -Speakers are good... for a laptop ---Cons--- -The trackpad loves fingerprints -There are a few software glitches that need some extra work to get around. For example, the file explorer takes several seconds to open by default, but that can be fixed by creating a new shortcut to the file explorer and putting it on your taskbar. -The drive that this comes with is a SanDisk SATA 512gb ssd. Why is this a problem? Because the other ssd slot is only for the more expensive NVMe PCIe Gen3 drives. So if you want to expand your storage you'll have to get a more expensive drive, which ironically will be faster than your OS drive. -HEAT + NOISE- When setting up this laptop (not gaming or anything intensive) temps reached above 80c. After I finished installing software and updating, temps idled around 45c-50c. Fans kick up a bit and make a pretty noticeable sound if on certain occasions if background tasks, like an antivirus or updater, start using some CPU (like 25%+) . Haven't stressed tested this thing out yet, but I heard problems about cpu throttling because of heat. A fix I have seen includes repasting the cpu and gpu, but I think that would violate the warranty, so it's a bummer that MSI didn't include better thermal paste in the first place.

Old Man Gets Hooked
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer at the BestBuy in Whitehall PA. At 68 years of age I have never owned a laptop before in my life and have no clue why anyone would want to waste their time playing video games. I needed a laptop to run a medical neural feedback gaming program system for my wife who has Alzheimer's disease. Since I also wanted to try to get the the program to run in VR , the only logical choice would be a Oculus ready gaming computer. The computer also had to be able to handle Excel and Word for my business. When I spotted this computer I knew it would fill the bill. Small enough to carry on an airplane and I figured if the screen was too small it could be plugged into a flat screen TV. I also figured that if I came home with anything less I would never hear the end of it from my 36 year old son who plays video games 24/7 unless he is eating. It was a no brainer. Then I bought the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality system and WOW! What a thing! A real trip without leaving the farm so to speak! I love this thing!

Great all around gaming laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop - have had it for 2 weeks now, and am loving it. It crushes all the AAA games on high settings that I've thrown at it, and I also use it as my general purpose laptop. The only downside is that it is a bit heavy - so will be a bit tough to bring on my long business trips. Otherwise great.

Super Fast and Great with Games
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially thought I overbought with this laptop, but I'm so very happy with it. The backlit keyboard and wide screen are a joy to me. I play a few games (not as many as my kids but hey, someone has to do the laundry) and I'm amazed at the frame rate I get. Kicks the butt of my kids' rigs. HA!

Good performance but high CPU temperature
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, it has a great performance. I will use this this laptop mainly for 3D development; however, playing PC games ( the witcher 3) or using the oculus rift significantly increase the temperature of the CPU around 90 degrees Celsius.

Fantastic computer for a mobile gamer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop in preparation for college, and I can already tell that it is going to meet those needs and more. The keyboard is fantastic, games run well, and the screen is beautiful. The cpu can get a bit hot at times, but nothing that a laptop cooling mat cant fix. Great laptop overall

Great laptop for business and gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just moved from a older MacBook Pro 13" and never looked back. This laptop is lightning fast and perfect for both gaming and business applications. Not a huge deal, but you'll probably want to delete a partition (D:) and resize the remaining one (C:) to have one big drive. Definitely recommend.

Best I ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not just the best laptop but the best overall PC that I ever owned. There are so many things on here that I need to explore I and I am looking forward to it. Its thin and lightweight and beautiful to look at. It can come across very unassuming but it has all the horses where it counts.

Beyond Impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very scared to get another compact gaming laptop after my dell g7 would freeze anytime i played a game in 4k. This laptop is 2/3rds of the size of the g7 and even has a smaller power brick and obliterates every game i throw at it. Love the build quality, everything about it honestly.

Best Laptop I've Ever Owned!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did alot of searching online before making my decisions. It was basically down to MSI GS65, The Gigabyte Aero, and the Razer Blade 15. All 3 laptops had the things I needed! 1. Large battery (6+ hours) 2. 144hz screen (a must for gaming) 3. solid GPU - 1070 max-q The MSI run games extremely well and the fan noises are barely noticeable when playing AAA games. The screen is great for watching movies and tv shows as well. I use the laptop for work and the professional design allows me to bring it into the office and no1 knows it is a gaming laptop. I ultimately went with the MSI due to its camera placement and the great port selection. Also the Best Buy model came in $400 less than the Razer Blade with similar specs. *One thing to note - MSI made this laptop incredibly difficult to upgrade - it's do-able but will take time. Overall excellent laptop and great design. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great gaming thin and light.
