Great performance in a small package. Very fast and runs games and business programs well. Fan can be a little loud, but that is just physics. Only complaint so far is that the track pad is whacky. And I have to turn it off to control the laptop and run applications. Very difficult to navigate menus and one application keeps minimizing to the task bar unless I turnoff the mouse pad. I need to research updated drivers or other fix. On my to do. A bit dissalpointing.

After having an AlienWare notebook for several years, (and being disappointed by broken plastic audio ports over time), I decided to upgrade to the MSI gaming notebook. Wow! It’s a night and day difference in higher quality over the AlienWare! Tons of attention to detail. It’s super thin, fast, quiet, and a joy to use! Highly recommend!

So far the GS65 is a solid laptop. I bought mostly for gaming but I also plan on using it for school. It is very fast and thin. Sometimes it gets a little hot but that was expected. For gaming though it is amazing, I'm getting well over 100 fps on most games on high settings. All in all I am loving this thing and am stoked I got it.

A quick bit of context: I consider myself a power user, am immensely familiar with computer hardware. My two other computers: a 2017 Razer Blade (1060, i7 7000 series, 16gb) and a gaming tower I built in 2016 (1070, i7 6700 series, 16gb). Without getting long-winded, the GS65 has been an unexpectedly fantastic replacement for both machines. Pros: - Attractive, well-built machine. It passes the "coworkers don't hate it" test (though they've been primed by my use of a Razer machine at work - complete with its' green glowing three-headed snake logo on the back, so the sample population may be a bit eschewed) - Easily the best laptop screen I've ever had the pleasure of using. - Incredibly, almost unbelievably fast, especially for the price (6 core 8700 series is a huge step up from the 6700 series, 1070 GPU in a sub-$2000 laptop is awesome). - Option to turn off the built-in camera is well-appreciated & frequently used. - Dragon Center is useful for on-the-fly adjustments Cons: - Battery life is underwhelming. Getting between 2-4 hours even w/ screen brightness down & w/ eco options set. Am used to 6-7+ w/ the same tasks (programming) on my year-old Razer, so it's possible I might have a bad battery on the GS65 (will check). This is the only reason why I've given it 4 stars, and will update to 5 if this is addressed. - Minor amount of flex on the machine, wobble in the screen hinge. - Fingerprint magnet. Summary: it isn't perfect, but it's close. The New Razer (2018) looks beautiful, but the machine is equal to this one in every other away. It's not worth the extra $500. Get the GS65.

This laptop has some serious power. It’s quite a bit thinner and lighter than I was expecting. I’ve actually taken to bringing this laptop with me to work so I can do some gaming at lunch time! Love the illuminated customizable keyboard. Has all of the ports I need. Great screen clarity with no glare. I love this thing.

Just got my GS65 Stealth THIN-037 recently. Definite upgrade from my last system. You do hear the fan going when starting to run something but it's nothing obnoxious. Kind of expected in a laptop. Colors are great. I'm able to run games like Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, etc. at full settings without any lag. Happy with it.

I bought this laptop specifically because I needed something with more power for the programs I use like Revit, InDesign, Illustrator, AutoCAD, and Lumion and I have to say it doesn't disappoint. So far I haven't run into any issues while using it. The programs work quickly and open at a faster pace then my previous laptop. While I mainly bought it for studio, I also wanted to try it for gaming and it didn't disappoint. I installed FF XV and I've been loving the experience. I've been able to play it on the highest settings available with minimal issues. After adjusting the settings so that my graphics card would be automatically used for the game, all those issues seem to have gone away. In addition, the laptop is extremely light. The last laptop I had wasn't as nearly as strong as this and yet it weighed significantly more. Overall, I highly suggest this laptop to those that need extra power. The only downside I have is that occasionally a couple of the keys will feel off like that are not working properly, however this only happens occasionally for the esc and shift keys.

This Laptop is amazing! Fast Processor with great Graphics Driver for a Laptop, Nice 4k Screen, Decent Storage Space

It's exactly what I wanted, good build quality and great performance for a pretty reasonable price overall. The 144Hz panel has minimal light bleed which was my only somewhat concern, the keyboard is a pleasure to type on, and amazingly enough despite this being a Win10 Machine, the Trackpad is superb.

All together this laptop is great, the only real downside is it does get a little hot as expected with a slim gaming laptop and the fans can be a little loud but something I definitely can deal with since this laptop is so powerful!

I LOVE this computer. It is small and compact and very easy to carry around. I can take this computer to work and get production done and at the end of the day, in the hotel, I CAN KICK SOME BUTTS playing online. I have to crunch massive data sets with GIS LIDAR data and this computer insures that it is done in a reasonable time and allows me to focus on other tasks as well. There are many technical reviews out there blabbing about the speed of this machine and all the qualities you can say about it. I love the simplicity of the outside and it is a beautiful work of art. Really recommend this computer for the players out there that also want to utilize data intensive engineering work. LIDAR, PLS-CADD models are completed in a good amount of time. This machine can also utilize eGPU if you want to upgrade to a larger GPU later on. I am looking at possibly getting a new GPU in a couple years and can keep this laptop and just utilize an eGPU later and save money on getting a new computer.

This is an excellent gaming system. I purchased to use with Oculus VR headset and it works perfectly. Also to play games while on the road. Only downfall I found is hard drive space, I wish it had larger SSD than 512GB... I have to use a 1TB SSD which hangs off the side. Also the power adapter where it plugs into the laptop should have been placed on the other side as if using a mouse with limited space the cord gets in the way. Otherwise very nice, thin, lightweight laptop.

This laptop tends to run a bit got, but the design of the laptop is aesthetically great! The screen is top quality, and the gold decor is very tasteful without being overbearing. However, the built-in Dragon Software makes it difficult to play RTS games such as Starcraft because the shortcuts to control the performance of the laptop overlap with the shortcuts to control unit groups. Secondly, this laptop seems to be in need of an RMA. The fans on this laptop emit an extremely loud screeching noise. I believe there is a hardware fault. It sounds like there's a small bird chirping 24/7 in my laptop. Overall I do like this laptop and I would recommend this to a friend if there was a guarantee of a solid build. Otherwise, this faulty-fan noise is simply unbearable. Who would use such a noisy laptop in a public setting? Who would be able to stand using it normally at home?

I recently purchased the MSI - 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 - 512GB Solid State Drive - Matte Black With Gold Diamond Cut for two reasons, I was looking for a good gaming laptop, and I had recently purchased the Oculus Rift VR system and was looking for a VR compatible laptop. So far this laptop performs as needed. The graphics are crisp and the speed is fast. Also it is relatively light, and not bulking looking like most gaming laptops. Price is similar to other gaming laptops. The only issue I ran into was running a VR game, it would through a graphics card error when trying to launch a game. The graphics card settings needed to be updated to run off of the NVIDIA card, which supports the VR games. This was not a default setting, but I was comfortable enough researching online to find a solution to the problem. VR works great, laptop performs as excepted and would recommend for anyone in the market for a gaming laptop.

I am honestly amazed by this laptop. Never in my life did I think I would find a laptop that is so light and portable while also boasting some of the best specs imaginable. Honestly, the GPU in this thing is comparable to better than most bulky Alienware and ASUS laptops, but it is extremely sleek. Thanks to a lightspeed solid state drive, the laptop is thin and light, very easy to transport. The screen is incredible. It has no glare and unbelievable pixel density. I am also a huge fan of the light up keyboard. It is very easy to toggle different light settings, or just leave it unlit, but it can be super useful to throw on a backlight depending on the time of day. The trackpad also has some really innovative features such as being able to tap one finger to click, tap two fingers to right click, move fingers in and out to zoom, and scroll two fingers up and down to scroll. Overall, this is an amazing purchase and I highly recommend!

Every other gaming laptop I looked at was enormous. The MSI looks great and is just the right size. The performance is great too. Sure it gets hot, but if you are buying a gaming laptop and expecting it to not get hot, then you're going to be disappointed in all gaming laptops.

There are a lot of very positive reviews out there for this laptop that I agree with so I'm going to primarily focus this review on just the small points of the laptop that I have problems with. This is a really great laptop with its beautiful screen, fast processor, and wonderful design. One of the small problems I have is that bringing a video to full screen results in the computer freezing for a few seconds before the video continues. Another small issue is that the charging light and power light are just a bit too bright while using the computer in the dark. But these problems are really just small nitpicking a great device, if your looking for a thin gaming laptop in this price range I think you will be happy with the MSI GS65.

I'm doing this review for a chance to receive a SteelSeries Siberia 200 Headset. I have been using for like a week and it such a good laptop. It is extremely portable and I have had no trouble carrying it to my class. Game performance is awesome been able to reach around 130 FPS in most of my games in High or Ultra settings. Some cons I have is the touchpad buttons are hard to press and take some force. Also, fan noise gets quite loud during long gaming sessions put apart from that they are completely quiet. The speakers some good except they are bottom-firing speakers, so depending on the surface the laptop is on the sound might be muzzled. I look at quite a bit of other gaming laptops likes his, like the Asus Zephyrus m gm501, the Razer Blade 15, Dell XPS, Alienware 15, and the Gigabyte Aero 15. Out of all these, the MSI GS65 was the best one overall for me and my needs. All around it is a pretty good laptop for its price.

great computer this is my first pc and I love it I work and play on this machine and it handles everything I use it for with no issues love the rgb keyboard nice build quality screen is nice the speakers could be better but I use headphones other then that great product

l exchange the laptop about 4 times in the Bestbuy, because I often highly require my everything. I am sorry for my behavior. This time I am very satisfied about the MSI laptop. The screen is 15.6 inch which is supper nice to gaming. What I really like is the keyboard and trackpad. Last time I exchange the MacBook pro because the keyboard and the screen.
