I have had this for over a month now and I purchased it for both work and play. So far this laptop has handled everything I have thrown at it. Rendering video and graphics for work are amazing. So fast, beats my mid 2015 Macbook Pro hands down. Video gaming is so smooth and crisp. I come from console gaming and this has changed my life. Every game looks beautiful and so detailed. The response time are incredible. If your thinking of going cheaper save yourself the trouble as I went through 3 other cheaper models and then bought this. The other 3 were not even close to the ball park. Plus with the RTX2060 your gonna be getting a nice return for a while on your purchase. Best laptop I have ever owned.

Got this at an unbelievable price and thoroughly impressed with what MSI was able to deliver in such a small and beautiful package.
Materials, fit and finish are top notch fixing some complaints with last year's model. The inclusion of the RTX 2060 really sets this apart along with some chassis rigidity improvements. You also get a bigger track pad. Otherwise you get fast 16gb ram taking up only one slot, 512gb mvne ssd, and a gorgeous matte 144hz IPS display. Speaker are just ok but the sabre ess hifi dac is awesome paired with my v-moda's. The steel series individual RBG key lighting is good to type with enough travel. Loving this laptop so far. MSI hit a home run here.

Here's where this laptop wins and fails
Wins:
Fast AF
Customizable RGB Keyboard
Thunderbolt3/USBC
Just enough USB ports
Great screen
Good Sound
A headphone jack!
Big Trackpad with Palm detection
Fails:
Fans can get a bit loud
No charging through the thunderbolt port (Maybe I've just gotten spoiled with my work laptops)
attracts fingerprints easily.
Overall this laptop is pretty nice but it could use some work in future revisions. Running userbenchmark, it excelled everywhere except for the SSD which I'm planning to replace for capacity reasons. Also my model shipped with a single 16GB DDR4 stick so I can upgrade it down the road if I wanted to. I've been messing around with it for the past 8 hours and so far, my complaints are minor in my mind yet still could be fixed .

I recently purchased a gaming laptop and in few days it overheated. Went back to best buy and decide to spend a little more for this one just to see if it was a better choice. I haven't had any problems with this laptop yet. Been playing a lot and no overheating yet. Decent when it comes to heavy gaming for long hours if you have the charger on but if not the speed and productivity would decrease a lot. No matter what i like this product and would keep doing business with this brand as long as I don't have any trouble with it. Also bought a extended warranty on this product just in case something happens. Really happy with my product.

I'm a gamer and have always had Playstations. A new PS pro was on my list until my laptop gave me trouble so I looked into gaming laptops and this came up. Wow. What a machine. I've thrown seriously heavy games at it and it hasn't missed a beat. The screen quality is excellent and I also use it for work. It is a little heavy and gets hot when pushed but can handle anything you can throw at it. My playstation purchase idea in now in the trash. Possibly permanently. It does everything I need it to, it's portable and delivers a quality gaming experience. If you like games and can afford it. Buy it.

I purchased this laptop as a desktop replacement. It has a nice set of features and plenty of computing power to handle my tasks. The first one I received had issues with the fans. Best Buy replaced it without question. This one has significant light bleed in all four corners and the middle top and bottom sections. I would normally get this remedied, however as a desktop replacement, I am using an ultra-wide monitor so I do not notice the light bleed issue that much. If I were using the laptop display as my primary, I would most definitely get a warranty repair. That being said, this laptop has ample memory, a fast processor and a rather speedy NVME SSD. All in all, I am happy with my purchase.

After 13 years of owning Mac Books and Mac Book Pro, I switched back to Windows based computers. The primary reason is because graphics cards have gotten to the point where gaming laptops are now thin and light. When I travel for business, I have to bring my work computer, which of course I can't do any personal work/games on (not saying my work computers can even play AAA games). So a thin and light gaming computer was my primary focus. In my online search, I found three brands, MSI, ASUS, and Razer in the thin and light category. My local Best Buy had two of the three on hand, Razer and MSI. To be fair, I purchased the Razer Advance RTX 2060 first as an open box. The open box was priced the same as the MSI GS65 RTX 2060. However, do to a suspected defect, I return the Razer and bought the MSI instead.
Pros:
-Very Thin and Light.
-The NVMe SSD is incredibly fast. Laptop boots from an off status within 15sec.
-The power brick is slim and light compared to the Razer's brick of a power supply. Major plus for me.
-Although the screen is only 1080p, it seems very sharp and crisp. I have a LG Ultra Wide screen monitor that is 1080p and it does not look as sharp.
-There is no monitor back light bleeding. I have read other reviews online saying this is an issue, but my laptop does not have it. Might have been lucky.
Cons:
-Relatively small SSD (512GB) for gaming. I put two games, Destiny 2 and Borderlands 2, and I have about 273 GB. So Windows 10 and 2 games almost takes up 50% of the SSD space. I could put may be 3-4 more games.
-The build of the laptop is not solid. It is made of aluminum but it is not CNC like Macbooks or Razer (a singel block of aluminum milled to form the laptop body). The GS65 is more like a box with a cover. The bottom half of the laptop is the box and the top half is the cover. This type of method cause some creaking noise when handling the laptop (i.e. carrying it). Also, on my laptop, there is a small area on the right side, around the HDMI port, I can pinch the top and bottom half together to make a clicking sound. It is like there needs to be a screw there to attached the bottom to the top.
-Annoyance. They partitioned the SSD as a C drive and D drive. I had to use a third party partition software to combined C and D drive. If it was a 1TB SSD, I can see partitioning it to a 250/750 split.
Individual Taste:
- To me the fans were not to noisy when playing games. I where head sets, so that could be the reason the fans don't bother me.
- The laptop expels a lot of hot air from the vents. Which is a good thing. The keyboard and palm rest get warm but not to the point where it is an annoyance. Although this is a laptop, I don't normally put the laptop on my lap when gaming. However, for normal use (web surfing or typing), I do put it on my lap and the bottom of the laptop is not hot at all.
- The cool factor of the Razer was using facial recognition as a password for Windows login. This laptop does not have that feature. However for a security stand point, you may not want that feature turned on.
Gaming Stats. I only have played two games on this system. Borderlands 2 and Destiny 2. I haven't figured out how to do a full streaming performance monitoring (FPS, CPU temp, GPU temp, etc...). AMD has AMD link that works great, but Nvidia doesn't have anything similar. The GS65 doesn't have GSync monitor, unlike some online speculation to the contrary. If it does get certified in the future, it will require a firmware update to enable the function. Anyway, Vsync seemed to work well enough that I did not see any tearing or a perceptual input lag.
Destiny 2 - Max setting with Vsync on. 60-85 FPS.
Borderlands 2 - Max settings with Vsync on. 80-120 FPS.

The graphics are amazing. The keyboard is awesome. The reason for 4 stars is the 512gb hard drive is a little to small considering most games are huge these days.

I bought this computer for my wife. She does project management and works from home a lot running a lot of high memory software so she needed something that could keep up and this thing is a beast. The one thing about it is that I wish it had fingerprint ID or supported Hello. Also, I'm not sure how it will hold up to the physical abuse of being dragged around from the house to the office to the coffee shop as it feels a little light. But we got the three year warranty on it, so I think it will turn out all right.

To be honest the first one we bought we returned because it would constantly freeze and power cycle itself from the time we took it out of the box. I was hesitant to purchase another one, but very glad that I did. I purchased the same exact model, haven't had a single issue. The laptop is fast, looks amazing. It's a lot of laptop for the price point. Metal Frame, RTX2060 graphics card, Intel Core i7. It was actually for my son, and we are both very happy with our purchase.

I like the metal chassis, rather than plastic from competitors. However, this laptop gets hot when gaming, like 90C, even with a laptop stand underneath with fans. I had to undervolt the cpu to get it to run cooler (80C). That is the price you pay for thin, light, and gaming, and for the most part, it's worth it. Battery died after about a year even though I babied it by keeping it at 50% (using msi tools) and never using the laptop off ac. Replacement batteries are easy to find online and not too expensive compared to the extended warranty programs if you are careful and not prone to accidents, and are comfortable opening the laptop up to service it yourself out of warranty. I knocked off two stars because after a year, during gaming, the laptop would suddenly shut off with the battery completely discharged even though it was 100% and i was plugged into ac for both the original battery and a new one. The old battery had bad health so this was understandable due to msi hybrid power. However, I tested the new battery and it was healthy and properly calibrated and still had this random problem. I also tried a more powerful oem power brick and the problem persisted. Under light loads, this phenomena has not repeated. I gave the laptop to a relative since they only use it for email and youtube as i couldn't figure out the sudden shutoff problem.

I did my fair share of reviews on BestBuy as well as my favorite form of review watching videos on you tube. The Best bang for the buck in a gaming laptop kept coming up with the MSI GS65 Stealth. I absolutely love this laptop. The 144hz screen looks amazing and silky smooth for watching videos and playing games. Can easily handle video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. Task that would either not be processable or take many hours barely tax this hardware in this machine. I enjoy the per key RGB backlighting and have some cool templates I use depending on my mood to keep things fresh and new. Dragon Center is great at letting me know the status of my machine and to keep things tuned for excellent performance. I can say one of the many issues I have noticed with previous laptops is the battery going bad from constantly putting charge all the way up to may and continuing to force juice into a fully charged battery… well this is not the case here depending on how you want the battery and power adapter to perform it completely bypasses the battery to not over charge it and solely runs on the power adapter so whenever you do choose to run on battery you will have a fully charged and conditioned battery that will last for year to come. One final thing I would mention is that this PC is Hi-Res through the internal 3.5mm headphone jack and I can tell you if you have a Tidal subscription and listen to Master Quality Music and Hi-Res headphones, be prepared to be amazed… it is definitely studio quality!!! I guess at the end of the day I finally have found a laptop that is perfect for me in the fact that I can do anything and throw anything at it from Gaming, Video Editing, Streaming (Netflix, HULU, Prime Video, 4K YouTube, HBONow for GOT!!!) MS Office Suite and anything else I could ever want to do with no problems.

I bought this laptop with a rtx 2060 in mind to future proof my laptop for the next 2 year or so. For the price it was a steal given how much performance you can get out of it. The thin bezel and slim profile is a huge bonus when your tired of bringing around a heavy laptop which compare to a couple year ago. I recommend this laptop over the razer and asus model.

I was looking at getting the razer pro 15 advanced model, but after seeing the same specs for 400 dollars cheaper, I was sold. The build quality is solid, just a little on the bendy side. Other than that, the laptop has been fantastic. Extremely fast and not too loud. The only real issue I have is how difficult it is to add a new hard drive. Be sure to watch a few youtube videos and you can take care of it with no problem .
