Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the excellent performance, attractive RGB keyboard, and lightweight design of the 15.6" Gaming Laptop. Positive feedback also highlights its portability and fast SSD storage, making it a convenient and powerful machine. However, some users note that the fan can be noisy under heavy load and the device may get warm. Concerns were also raised regarding the limited storage capacity.

Excellent laptop for work and gaming

This laptop is very thin and it has very good performance despite its small chassis. The RTX 2060 is enough to run almost any game on high or ultra while being not too loud. This laptop is good for students if they want to work/study and play games on the same laptop.

Great laptop and very light. Thermals and performance can suffer at times but this is expected for such a thin laptop.

Plenty of reviews out for this laptop, mostly great things and some negatives (creaking sounds, loud fan, gets hot, single channel ram, upside down motherboard). The only negative that wasn’t really mentioned is how shallow the USB ports are. If you have a Logitech wireless mouse, your dongle/receiver will stick out more. It gets pretty annoying when you are using a fitted carrying case.

This laptop is an absolute monster. Tbh I think it has way too much power than I need. I haven’t been big on pc games for a while but now that I have this I’ll find no problem getting back into it. I bought the computer so I could run ArcGIS software and was pleasantly surprised by all the cool features. Def feels like a premium product, which it should for the price your paying.

Great Laptop For the Most Part

It may seem like there are a lot of cons, but I wanted to talk about the things others may not like. It is a fantastic laptop overall, but it is not without its flaws. Single channel memory was a very poor choice for example on a laptop as hard to upgrade as this one is. Pros: -Configuration. 16gb of RAM is good. 512gb of SSD storage is also pretty good. The i7 8750h is a powerful processor and the RTX 2060 graphics have enough power to play every title out there at 60fps minimum high settings. -Build. Solid machine. A little bit of flex, but it just feels solid and is mostly metal. It's light and all in all a good design -Design. It looks good. The black and gold looks sophisticated and classy. The keyboard is shifted down to facilitate the vents on top of the laptop. -Performance is good. You should have no problems playing any games with the RTX 2060 and the i7 8750h. The 9750h is probably only about 5% faster. The system seems very reliable and stable! -Keyboard is quite nice. Not the most key travel, but very tactile and the lighting is good. -Trackpad is a smooth glass surface with window precision drivers. It's very wide which is helpful with navigation and gestures. Very responsive. -Screen is beautiful. Colors are great and it is very responsive. This is my first 144hz display and I love it. -I/0 is plentiful three USB ports, ethernet, thunderbolt 3, mini displayport, and audio in and out are good. -Battery life is fantastic. Easy 4-5 hours of Youtube playback at least. -Speakers get loud and are decent. -Webcam is good enough. -Upgradability. It has a second m.2 slot and only comes with one filled. -Value. I got a deal on it for $1,400 and for me it was unquestionably the best choice. at $1,700 or less, it's a fantastic laptop. Cons: -Configuration. Single channel RAM? WHY! it impacts performance significantly and there is absolutely no reason or excuse to ever ship a laptop as hard to upgrade as this one with single channel memory. The SSD is also not very fast. Definitely fast enough, but only about half the speed of the Samsung 970 evo. -Build. A little bit creaky. Solid, but definitely not a unibody build and I wish the metal was a little bit thicker. Hinge leaves me concerned. It's plastic and feels like the most unstable and cheapest part of the computer. -Design. The black and gold just looks a little posh for my taste, still very good however. Just one question. Who put the charging port right in the middle of the right side of the laptop? -Performance. Some power limit throttling and a little bit of thermal throttling, but a little bit of undervolting and you're good to go. . Keyboard. A little bit of strange layout. alternative functions only assigned to every other two function keys. and volume and brightness functions are assigned to the arrow keys. The fn key is on the right and the tilde key just feels a little bit lower quality than the other keys. Still good, but odd function layout. -Trackpad. Seems to bend with use. The trackpad started to get a little bit uneven after light use. It is not always the most consistant with the cursor moving on it's own a bit along with occasional unwanted clicks and actions. -Screen is a little dim. Definitely more than bright enough for most environments, but for $2000 in 2019 you expect a bit more. -I/0. No complaints. Maybe another USB C would have been nice, but that's about it. -Battery life. A lot of software likes to use the Nvidia graphics card even you're doing something fairly basic. If you use Nvidia graphics expect 1/3-1/4 of the battery life doing the same task without it. -Speakers. Why? Why? Why locate them on the bottom against the table. So many manufactures do this. It makes great speakers mediocre at best. -Webcam is a little bit grainy, but it's okay. -Upgradability. Trying to upgrade this laptop is like trying to diffuse a bomb. To simply upgrade storage or memory you need to take 15 screws out of the back and you'll find a motherboard covered in Mylar and you'll have to carfully disconnect 6 ribbon cables under it including the display cable with a sticky side attached to the fans. Then you'll have to unscrew the wifi card and disconnect the antenna and after two more screws on the motherboard you lift the motherboard out CAREFULLY and BY THE BOARD AND NOT THE HEATSINK and guide the antenna through a hole in the heatsink assembly. Flip the board over install your hardware and reassemble. -Value. At $2,000 the Razer Blade 15 is similar in price and a better choice. Brighter screen, Better trackpad, More solid build, runs cooler, easier to upgrade, and more compact. It comes with WIndows Hello and dual channel memory out of the box and also a much faster SSD preinstalled. I think it looks better too. I still like the GS65, but for the price, the Razer just seems significantly better for not that much more.

This laptop works great for my online games and the graphics look amazing. It's a bit expensive but overall nice look and it's not too heavy. I hope it lives up to the buzz the guys at Best Buy feel about it.One thing I do not like so far is that it seems to get very hot.
