Buttery smooth gaming but, unlucky
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a gaming laptop and narrowed it down to this or the ASUS ROG series and Im glad that I chose MSI. The 240hz screen is amazing and paired with the 2070 maxq I was getting consistent 140+ fps on games like Warzone, Overwatch, etc. Fans definitely do sound like a rocket ship taking off but, bearable with headphones. Laptop does get pretty hot but there are some optional side products you can buy to cool it even further. Unfortunately, despite the amazing screen, I found some dead pixels and looking into exchanging... Overall, definitely worth the money but, should double check the quality in case you are part of the unlucky bunch.

Overall Powerful Laptop, but with issues

Great rgb lighting. Runs Quick. Great black color.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first gaming laptop and I have had a great experience so far. The rgb lighting in the keys are very customizable and have simple to complex preset patterns to pick from. I have run many games on it so far, such as Rainbow 6 Siege, Fortnite, and Fall Guys. It doesn't get too hot either. The 240 hz screen is magnificent. Overall I love it and would highly recommend it to first timers and experienced gamers.

Probably the best gaming ultrabooks on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're reading this, chances are you're probably on the edge between the Razer Blade 15 Advanced, ASUS G14 and this MSI GS66 Stealth. I've done some extensive research on both models, and I can confidently say that the MSI GS66 Stealth is the best thin & light gaming laptop of 2020. The model I have is probably defective, as I'm experiencing battery and keyboard issues (light ups are inconsistent and battery isn't charging). I might return this soon. 1.) Design. This one is probably an 8/10. My number one complaint about this laptop's design is that it's definitely a fingerprint magnet. The stealthy look is amazing, and I love how this laptop doesn't scream "I'm a gamer, I have an obnoxiously looking laptop". The microfiber cloth that comes with the laptop is pretty bad, so expect to use a better one for frequent cleaning. 2.) Keyboard. Really good keyboard, but be careful. 9/10. The keyboard on this laptop is superb, probably the best and is neck to neck with the Razer. The keys are tactile and have enough travel to feel smooth, reliable, and consistent. It feels like the old butterfly switch keyboard found on the last year MacBook models. I'm fond with it. The only problem was that the software is inconsistent. The first time booting up this laptop, it was fine. But after several hours later, the function keys weren't lighting up and I tried to reinstall SteelSeries Engine 3. Somehow, the laptop ended up crashing and entered system recovery mode. Although it's probably only for my laptop because it might be defective, be mindful and try not to update the keyboard drivers because that's what screwed it up for me. 3.) Display. Gorgeous screen and meets the standard in 2020. 8/10 I'm not much of a display expert, but switching from a 60hz laptop to a 240hz laptop, it felt amazing. Everything was buttery smooth, and I felt that slim response time. You'll have to configure the display on MSI's Dragon Center. 4.) Webcam is pretty bad, 5/10. Trackpad good, 9/10. Can't say much about the webcam other than it sucks. Also, you'll hear a lot of background noise which is primarily coming from the fans. Bad mic placement, I presume. At least it has Windows Hello. Trackpad is solid. It's wide, which I really like about it. The feeling is built really well too. The clicks are tactile, and they're designed well enough for a satisfying click. Lots of people were complaining that their models had trackpads that would click even when typing on the keyboard. I haven't had that problem yet. 5.) Gaming and thermals. 8/10 Playing games on this laptop is really good. It was quite a jump from my old laptop. Since it's a Max-Q design, it'll handle like maybe 90% of whatever you throw at it. The 10% is probably gonna be Witcher 3 and Modern Warfare. Modern Warfare is extremely graphics demanding so you're gonna have to tone down the settings just a little bit to hit that 100+ frames. I've played Destiny 2 and Apex Legends so far on this machine, and I've been hitting from 110-130 FPS on the highest settings possible. Thermals were pretty normal for a gaming laptop, so you're expecting like maybe 90Celsius when on full load. Many people recommend undervolting your laptop but I'm too afraid to do that considering the mess I've gone through rebooting and restoring my laptop. My method of reducing thermals is to enter the Windows power plan and configure their advanced settings so that the maximum power the processor can use is <100%. I set mine to 90%. Because of this, I've been hitting the same framerate, but the thermals are way better -- max is 70Celsius on load. I can't say much about the speakers other than they go really loud. Lots of people are complaining about the speakers, but I'm no audiophile. So I'm just gonna say that they're good. Conclusion This laptop is the best for its competition. You can choose either the Razer or this model. I wouldn't even go for the ASUS model even if it has an AMD CPU and thermal this thermal that. This laptop is light, performs well, has good thermals. Keep in mind of the overwhelming bloatware that this laptop gives you, so be prepared for some uninstalling!

Great until it wan't.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this laptop for about 3 years. It has been great up until this point. Randomly the screen went black and will not come back on. No illumination at all. I've tried multiple fixes to correct the issue with no success. Thankfully the PC still works with an eternal monitor connected but for the price I would expect a bit more longevity out of the hardware. From what I've read on several forums, this is a common issue for MSI laptops. Hopefully I can have it repaired for less than it would cost to purchase a new PC.

Incredible graphics
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is tremendous. Its very high powered and can run practically anything. The only downfall is that it heats up incredibly fast. An external auxiliary underneath cooler is a must. Very worth your money. The light up keyboard is nice as well.

Great Laptop for Anyone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop particularly for school/work. For the price, there is nothing better. I was choosing between this and a mac. Between the specs, you are paying almost double to get in the mac what this laptop offers. The keyboard is extremely comfortable. I type a lot for school and work, and this is by far the most comfortable laptop keyboard I have ever used. Overall, perfect laptop for anyone. Gaming, school, work, etc. You name it, this laptop does it. Camera is HD, and mic works well enough to handle zoom as well.

Quite the Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the MS66 Stealth after my previous apple product had outlived it's use. And within the first days of acquiring it there was a notable and very positive difference. The Steelseries keyboard took a little bit to get used to but is very easy to work with along with many of the other programs it comes with. Not to mention the cooling hardware is phenomenal. If you can afford this product and looking to buy a great quality gaming laptop for beginner and not so beginner gaming, I would recommend this product.

great machine for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very new to PC gaming but have always wanted a computer that could run heftier stuff. I was in the market for a new laptop and came into some extra money and decided to use it here. After my research the GS66 seemed like the best choice at the price with enough of the features I was looking to get. It runs really well and I've been able to use it for what feel like chunkier games like Forza Horizon 4 and GTA 5, which is exactly what I was looking for. Pretty satisfied with my purchase.

THIS LAPTOP IS AMAZING!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research before choosing a laptop, and after spending hours pouring over reviews I eventually decided upon this one. The screen looks spectacular, and the keyboard is amazingly comfortable, with the per-key RGB lighting being a highlight. The setup was super streamlined, and took seconds to get from pulling the plastic off to playing my favourite games! Overall, this is an amazing laptop, and anyone who's debating buying it, let me save you some time. Buy it!

Excellent Laptop and Great for Gaming/Performance!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently was in the market for a laptop after my previous laptop had issues from HP. This laptop is very fast and the build quality is excellent!!! The resolution is perfect for this size of a screen. The RTX 2070 is powerful enough to deliver max resolution in your latest games!! Temperatures are ok for a gaming laptop. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a laptop with performance under the hood.

Very powerful and small
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gotta admit i was sceptic becuase of the size of the computer. I was actually looking for a big 17 inch machine that would be a desktop replacement because i was worried about heating issues. There hasnt been any so far! Pros: powerful, keeps cool even when playing, portable, aluminium chassis, plenty of storage Cons: Having issues with Dragoncenter software after just a couple days. Already reinstalled it twice but it keeps bugging. 16 gb ram is definitely the bottle neck in this machine and when i play some strategy games I have to have less npcs in the game (or else it lags) All in all im pretty happy so far.

Great Gaming Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop for the cost! Similarly spec'd laptops can cost hundreds of dollars more depending on the brand. I've been needing to upgrade my PC gaming setup for a while and feel so safe and happy with this MSI purchase. It's incredible seeing how great my games look and how smoothly it operates. You won't find a better value.

An Amazing laptop for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this laptop runs every game I play at 60+ fps all day and night. I originally purchased a Aleinware M15 for this guy since the Alienware laptop wasnt capable of the windows hello via webcam. This guy has not let me down even on some of the new games out now and being lightweight i've been able to take it anywhere for both daily use from paying bills to hardcore gaming with it. you wont be let down by this MSI Product.

Really solid computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this computer because I have really wanted to play some games and I have been stuck with a MacBook Air. Lets just say massive upgrade, the only thing not great about it is the camera but that isn't what I bought it for. I don't get the complaints about it being loud, I mean yes it has fans it's a gaming laptop, but from my experience it isn't any louder than any other laptop with comparable computational power.
