This product is awful. It constantly loses connection and fell off the wall in 5 days. I can't understand how they can justify charging so much for it - I'll be returning it for sure.

The shapes look very nice, but they keep losing the connection to the App and are very unstable. Great if it works, but stops frequently stops working or having issues

Stopped working after 5 weeks... nice! Was nice while it lasted.

Worst purchase ever. I can’t take it back now. One of the pads never worked and nano leaf support is no help at all

Besides network connection issues after a week, it completely stopped working after 2 months with minimal use.

WARNING!!!!! If you go down this path, it may get creatively addictive. So we have all seen the light bulbs that can change color, and smart switches. Well this is a whole new ball game. This can change the ENTIRE WALL to a smart decor wall. Installation is pretty straight forward, no tools... just use the adhesive strips provided. You need only one outlet to support up to 21 panels (According to the manual, I haven't tried more than what was included. Connecting the panel to the plug was literally a snap. Then you can connect the "brains" of the operation to another side of the panel, with a snap, and you are ready to play. Download the app to your phone, and you can then easily add this to your network. I had to use the CODE method, as my phone would not auto-detect the panel. Not a big deal, real straight forward. Once it was connected, I had full control of the panel. It isn't as impressive with just one connected, but you can then make sure you have it all up. I recommend laying this out on the floor or the table, before putting it up on the wall the first time. You add extra panels with the included connectors that just snap in... and the app instantly knows. and you can control... and now you can see all the neat things. Playing with different colors and schemes, you can then create your own... and basically paint the wall in light. I know this is going to lead to more kits being purchased... and more details. this is going to be an endless set of options that we get to do here.

This is the first of many more Nanoleaf sets I plan to get. It has an app that it pairs with, and it's really useless without the app so plan to download that and pair it first (which is super easy if you use the QR code) ---- but it took a while for me to realize this was really the only way to setup my shape panels. Nonetheless, here are my pros and cons: PROS - Through the app I can turn the smart shapes on and off easily from my iPad through the Homekit app from Apple. - Adhesive tabs to attach panels to the wall are quality and didn't damage the wall at all - An absolute atmosphere changer for any room CONS - I notice an ever so slight delay with the syncing of the music and lights, but maybe that was just me - Little setup instructions in the physical package --- most of it is all available online and I prefer instructions in my hand These are perfect for game rooms, multimedia centers, and even everyday family rooms. So worth the buy!

I've been wanting to try these for a while and was pleasantly pleased once getting everything setup. Putting it together was easy and fun at the same time trying to figure out what shape or design I wanted to come up with. The colors are both bright and vibrant and the sequences you can choose are endless almost. It makes an amazing focal point and brings a soothing glow or bright wall to anyone like myself who loves light and color throughout the house. Unlike a single light these basically come to life with animation and flow. Putting them together is effortless. There are a lot of little pieces and connectors. but if you ever played with legos you can easily do this haha I'd highly recommend these to others

Just received my NanoLeaf Shapes Hexagon Smarter Kit today and have been testing it out. Inside this smarter kit comes, 7 Hexagonal shaped light panels with 7 mounting plates, 8 linkers that connects the panels to one another, a controller, power adapter, and double-sided adhesive tape. Also included is a Quick Start Guide and a design insert with a few layout examples. Given you only have 7 panels, your layout designs are pretty limited, however, you can purchase additional panels to build-out larger designs. Initially I attempted and failed to create my layout design on my bed, but later I actually read the instructions and watched a couple of videos online that showed the proper way of installing the panels on the wall with the double-sided tape and adding the linkers to the panels once they're lined up on the wall. After creating a simple design I downloaded the NanoLeaf app to my iPhone (which is also available on the Google Play store for Android phones). The app guides you in making sure all the panels are connected properly and continues through the rest of the setup process including creating an account and connecting it to any smart home networks you make. It works with Apple HomeKit as well as, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT. After getting the app up and running, you can power up the light panel either via the app or the controller that MUST be connected to one of the panels. My set noticed that there was a firmware update for the panels and took about 3 minutes or so to download and install the update. After updating went into the discover tab which lists a ton of different scenes that you can download and startup. Watch your lights start to dance and change colors based on which color scheme you select. One of my absolute favorites is using any of the color schemes with a music note. These allow your panels to respond to either your television or any music playing nearby. If I only had one gripe about the panels so far would be that although this is just a smarter/starter set, I wish there were more linkers included; just to make connecting them to one another a little more secure.

The title really sums up my feelings about the Nanoleaf Shapes Hexagons Smarter Kit. I can't remember the last time I bought something that made me so happy. Immediately after the unboxing I was in creative mode trying to decide where I wanted to set them up, and in what configuration. That was only the beginning! This is a truly unique product that provides an absolute abundance of options. As I mentioned figuring out where, and how you will set them up is just the first step. The setup is actually quite easy from a physical / technical sense. The shapes seem to be of good quality, and I expect they will last for a long time. The connectors seem durable, and the adhesive is very strong (Make sure you put them where you want them the first time!). The options keep coming at this point. There are so many ways to express your creativity with this kit. The app gives you control over much of this including control over the amazing vibrant colors you will see. Watching the colors dance to my favorite songs put a huge smile on my face. Even better it is compatible with my Amazon Echo devices furthering the convenience and control I have over the system. I just wish there were a few more panels included in the starter kit. I look forward to expanding it in the future. This is one of the more unique products I have had the pleasure of using. It is creative, fun, expressive, and sets a mood in the room unlike anything else. I highly recommend the Nanoleaf Shapes Hexagons Smarter Kit to anyone looking to make their living space their own!

The set-up couldn’t be simpler. It works even before you install the app, which you shouldn’t skip. The only issue is that the connectors fall off very easily before you use the include 3M adhesives and attach the leaves to the wall. It is not a big deal but I like to try the different settings on the floor before deciding what will look better on the wall. As for the app, all you need is to scan the QR code and you’re ready to go. All the cool settings depend on it but that is not a bad thing. There is so much you can do with it: controlling the colors, wall setup, scenes and response to different types of music. Initially, I thought my girlfriend wouldn’t like it because of all the color effects but she liked it so much that we put it on the wall above the bed. With the right scene, it even sets the mood for relaxation. I was planning on using it in the entertainment room but I feel the bedroom is the right place…at least for now. Nothing is overwhelming. The light is neither too dim nor too bright. It is ideal for most environments as it is intended as an artistic setting, not as a main light source. It allows for creativity as it is very flexible. Building shapes is very easy because the connectors can go to any side of the hexagons. Just make sure you find the shape you like before putting them on the wall because once you do, it may not be easy to get them off without needing new adhesives. Very happy with the product .

The Nanoleaf Hexagons are beautiful and work exactly as described. Right out of the box you can pretty much figure out how to use them. You connect the power adapter to one of the hexagons then you can link them using the links provided. Then you can add the control to any one of the hexagons. You then go into the Nanoleaf app and hit add new device. I already have the canvas so the app is already setup for me. If I recall correctly you just need to install the app and create an account. Once you are in the setup process you scan the QR code that came with your hexagons and it installs them. Once installed they are very easy to use and respond almost instantly via the app. There are several themes you can use and they will respond to music and you can customize them based on a color scheme. This is nothing groundbreaking but still fun to play with. I have several light apps that all function pretty much the same way. They include pieces of mounting tape, I have not mounted them yet as I have yet to decide where I want to permanently place them. Overall I think these hexagons are very stylish and I love how flawlessly they work with the app. If you are looking for a way to dazzle people in your rec room or bar, or anywhere you would like to make a statement then I would highly recommend.

Its a great kit of lighting panels for anyone that wants to add some color to any room. I chose to install them in my mancave gaming room. Install was easy but with one caveat. Make sure your wall paint isn't glossy or porous. Mine is, and the included double sided tape didn't work. I followed the instructions however they would not stay put on my wall for more than 10 minutes before all the pieces falling down, however I was able to solve the problem by buying some heavy duty double sided tape at my local hardware store. After that, they will stay put (I have used that 3M heavy duty double sided tape before on my walls). Bearing this, install was very easy, there are many shapes and forms you can choose (there is a paper with some examples included, however if you use their ios/android app, it can guide you to accomplish more shapes and forms). You connect the panels to one another and then you plug the control piece to one and it to the power brick. Afterwards the app is easy to use to control colors, patterns (it can follow music etc). I put then behind my gaming monitor to use them as an ambilight and it looks amazing. My friends are jealous of my gaming room now! They can be used for many things, as a party light, ambient light at night when sleeping etc, you can choose!

Wow, I'm really impressed, this set of lights looks fantastic and has a lot of light modes that make it fun. The unboxing is pretty simple, everything is in its place and easy to take out of the box. Once I connected all 7 hexagons and turn them on I felt happy and excited with all those beautiful colors. I think the hexagon's size is good and don't weight too much, installation is simple but, be careful you will have just one shot because they provide only an exact quantity of adhesives so if you relocate your lights, you'll have to buy another set of adhesives, other than that I think this set of smart lights are fantastic, I love the feature that allows you to play some music and the lights will follow your music's beat and let me tell you... looks pretty cool. The app works well and lets you control the pannels easily and make some customization with the light colors. In summary, if you're looking for really nice and colorful lights these are a perfect choice and works with major virtual assistance devices, I would definitely recommend this product to a friend and anybody XD

These lights are for anyone who's already dabbling in smart lighting, who knows what a light organ is, anyone who has had or pined over Ambilight TVs. The Nanoleaf shapes combine the concepts of smart lighting with the internet of things. These shapes are controlled by an app and this app allows you to connect the shapes to another service. After setting mine up I immediately linked them to google home. The shapes themselves are color LEDs that connect with "linkers" and are attached to the wall with double-sided tape or screwed to the wall. I'll be honest I'm reticent to screw them anywhere because I'm excited about the idea that I could maybe change the shape on my wall at some point. The panels are also touch-sensitive. This kit includes 7 hexagons, but the entire Nanoleaf series is compatible and you could mix and match. Nanoleaf also sells flexible linkers which let you put the shapes around a corner. I wish one was included in the kit. Modes I use a lot: Screen Mirroring - this is essentially Ambilight. Runs from a computer though. Games - Pac man, whack a mole, there are some fun things you can do with the touch. Music Visualizer - syncs the movement of the lights to music. Scenes - preset patterns that you can run for certain colors/brightness/moods. There are tons of options here. Light-based wake alarms, calming sleep patterns, etc. The panels themselves feel well made and are quite thin. The controller has to be mounted to one of the panels, which lets you choose where the power gets to the shapes, but it does still have to have a cord going to it, and it wasn't quite long enough for me. The linkers and the wall mounts are well thought out, just with they included a flex linker. Corner patterns with these shapes seem super interesting. The colors in the panels are lovely and work well, the colors don't' quite go all the way to the sharp edges of the hexagons so they're just a bit more rounded than the shapes on the wall. I'm considering giving a set to my 13-year-old for her room just to see what she can come up with. I didn't have any experience with Nanoleaf before this, but the setup and the connection were easy enough. Similar to setting up a wifi camera or a wifi connected light bulb to get connected to your 2.5ghz network (no 5ghz for these). The app was a little more advanced, and you should definitely download that and take a peek at some of the patterns in there before putting yours together. I may also experiment with IFTTT connections later. Expansion packs are also available to expand your wall display. Overall I love the way these look and work They seem well made so I hope they last. I intend to continue mounting them with adhesive strips so I can move and change how they're set up.
