NBA 2k21 currently holds a 1.4 user score on Metacritic for PlayStation 4, with an even lower score on PC and a slightly higher 2.2 on Xbox One. The reasons it's being review bombed are varied, but many of the user reviews pinpoint what they believe to be a lack of evolution or innovation over last year's NBA 2k20 (which was itself review-bombed and also holds a very low Metacritic score). In addition, users are pointing to overly awkward controls, an abundance of microtransactions, and perceived pay-to-win mechanics in the game's online modes. For the most part, however, the negative reviews focus largely on the excessive similarities between last year's game and this year's installment.

It’s basically the same as 2k20 but with a terrible shot meter, you can be a 85 overall and miss a wide open shot but then you’ll see a 60 overall rookie green a contested shot, I don’t understand.

It was very difficult to shoot at first but they’ve patched it since then. It still looks the same but 2K says that the PS5 version will be an almost completely different and includes a lot more features than the PS4 version. You get 100,000 VC for this generation console and the next, so its worth the money.

I bought it because I’m a big Kobe fan. So i was expecting a heavy dose of Kobe from cover to cover. I was expecting Kobe to be the main cover and the intro but it’s Lillard instead. Other than that, great game and storyline for MyPlayer!

I like playing MyCareer and Myteam usually, but on this 2k it just makes me not want to. When first loading up Myteam on this game, it got me confused for a bit, I knew how to play single player and multiplayer modes, but I wanted to know how to do other things. MyCareer doesn't even make you feel part of the game after completing the story like 2k20, no interviews, no locker room cutscenes, nothing. The only thing that makes this good is what you get for the price, you get 100k VC which can be used to upgrade a character on the next gen version if you can save some up, free copy of next gen 2k21, a couple things for Myteam, and of course the Kobe case. My rating would be a 3.5 maybe even 4 for all the things you get, I really hope the next gen version makes me feel a little more immersed than current gen.

Spend your vc wisely (or dont spend it at all and wait for next-gen) because this game's shooting mechanic is in my opinion one of the worst I've experienced. Hopefully next gen's 2k21 is much more enjoyable and better to play

Best offer out of all the offers given by 2k this year and plus the steel case makes even better deal...the only thing ive had issue was that case came slightly dented im assuming due to handling with shipping. Besides that I would recommend ordering this version of 2k21 mamba edition

My son was super excited to get this game. Shipping was super fast, it arrived the next business day! The only issue was that the extras that were supposed to come with the game didnt load right away. We had to report the issue to 2K and his account was credited the following day.

It's becoming my yearly routine to purchase a NBA2K game. The details for the gaming experiences also improve every year. I strongly recommend anyone that's into sports games to try NBA2K, it's really fun and addicting!

It’s a okay game do like the shooting bar they have now. Plus I have not received my 100,000 vc for preorder the game ahead of time. Do know if I will preorder again just wait until it go down in price. But I did want the Kobe Mamba Forever edition

This game is more of the same. Its the basketball sim you know and love or it might be the one you know and hate. Micro transactions abound but it is what it is. As a player that participates mainly in "play now" and seasons its fun for me

My sons love the game. On the 8th and 24th of each month they play to pay homage to Kobe. After they mastered the changes they are having fun. The house did get louder from their excitement but i'm used to it now.

If you’ve played a Nba2k game before then you should know what you are getting into, the main reason I bought the Mamba edition was to get the PS5 version, still waiting for that, but so far enjoying the game on PS4

oh, my son loves this game that every year for his birthday a new one comes out that now is becoming a collection of his. so now it has become a birthday gift that he looks forward to

The Kobe artwork is awesome. Game itself is the same game, they just made the shooting controls horrible. If you have the last 3 2K games, you essentially have this game...

This was a gift for my Grandson’s Birthday. He was so surprised and excited to receive this particular gift. He loves the game and it being Mamaba this year really made it a special gift. He loves it!!!

I purchased these for a gift for my son. Was way easier and faster than going into to actual store during the pandemic. Delivered curbside. I was able to get this on sale. Love kobe graphics.

I had to buy this edition for Kobe. As far the game I dislike the shoot stick. Not a fan of the shooting. But nothing really different as far as anything else really.

Me and my son love basketball and he understand the legacy that Kobe left behind. He spent his hard earned money on this game not only because he is a 2k fan but he wanted to honor Kobw in some way.
