    Crooked Scan issues...no fix

I actually purchased two of these, both with the same issue. I will focus on the newest one. I bought the second hoping that it would not scan crooked like the first. Right out of the box, it scanned crooked. Because I had two, the free 60-day telephone service did not work for me as the automated system was triggered by my first unit, which no longer qualified for phone support. So access to service was a chore - only chat or email service available. The end result was to ship the scanner back for replacement. I am electing to not make the third time the charm, so I am not sending it back for replacement. I am returning for a refund (after two days of onwership). I do like the software, though Paperport may be just as effective. The downside to the software is that it scans in a proprietary database and files must be converted to pdf manually.

I would never buy a Neat scanner again

The software works very inconsistently, the scanner doesn't always grab the document. And good luck in getting support from Neat. I had emailed them, they emailed back, I emailed back and never heard from them again. And even with the response I got it was clear that the rep was either inexperienced or ignored what I was asking her and just gave a canned response. Now I'm having another issue and can't get a hold of them.

    this thing is awful

It stores scans in a large database, and twice it has lost everything I have scanned! There is an option to scan to a pdf but you must enter a new file name for every scan, and that takes for ever. Upgrades have failed twice in the year i have owned this, and I have had to go back to an earlier version of the software. The help support can take weeks to respond. Not worth the hassle, nor the money

This is a worthless product if you were planning on storing documents to your computer. You must use their cloud storage in able to use the organizing software side....if you save to your computer, you type in a file name and organize it yourself (for this method buy a $20 scanner). Also.... if I purchase the software outright why do I have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription? If you like the idea of saving documents on the cloud... google is cheaper...its free.... and it always works. Neat's software crashed on me 3 times today. I'm selling the garbage. Maybe someone else can use a $400 scanner.

Really Wanted to Like, but too Frustrating

I have been using my Neat Scanner for the past 8 months. The software constantly crashes, it often says I do not have paper inserted into the scanner when I do. Overall it is more trouble than it is worth. I have spent hours trying to get both the hardware and software to work. I sent an email to Neat support, but I never heard back.

Really like the theory of having less clutter in my office, took a little bit to figure everything out!

    It works mostly but

I bought my scanner before they started charging monthly subscriptions and find them now constantly trying to get me to purchase a plan which is irritating and something I definitely don't want. The scanner is a high quality scanner but the feed mechanism requires constant fiddling to get sheets of paper to read. I can't just put 3 pages in and press scan. I must jostle each page until the rollers grab it. It has done this since it came out of the box. I should have returned it then but I didn't The software has a very poor interface design and hasn't been updated (except for the annoying prompts about subscribing) in 3 years. Yes, I can find documents and display or print them but only if I have manually typed in the information I searched on. So much for the promised OCR to text. It does work somewhat for receipts but I store all my bills and statements and it definitely doesn't do ANYTHING for those. The only good thing I can say is that it is a more integrated package than any other scanner I have seen.

Scanner is best part of package, software had issues with cloud syncing periodically but worked thru it, paid additional for customer service package (your gonna need) once you finally get them they,re great. Neat streamed lined there system taking away key features, limited searching, customizing, and you have to open item to see if its what your looking for. Boat anchor know should of worked more on customizing cloud instead of stream lining, had a good software.

Stay Far Away from this Product

Worked great for years. Now they've gone to a cloud based app that crashes every 30 seconds. Plus their cloud service has been down for three weeks! Going on my third Tech Support direct access to my computer with at least two hours each time. All of my existing documents no longer have their names I gave them on my origianl desktop app! Would take me months to re-enter everything - that is, if I could even access and use the app without it crashing every 30 seconds! Stay away from this company, maybe might problems will help someone else avoid the same problems!

    Glitches

I love the idea of this product and if it was more user friendly and costumer service was available for free 24hrs a day past the warranty date it would be perfect! It glitched on me 4 times and each time I called costumer service but got a recording because they are only open during business hours or no one was available to answer my call.

I bought the desktop version. The software is now not supported and it does not work. There is no update as they have stopped. There is no phone number as they have stopped. There is online chat that does not answer. I am now stuck with no access and no ability to scan and Neat company says..... oh well! STAY AWAY

Worst product I've ever purchased. The neat scanner sucks, the paper will not pull thru without hand feeding each page. Doesn't work with mac, and they will charge you $50 to talk to support for them to tell you mac isn't compatible
