not happy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this game and tried to play it only to find out that you have to have an account on the ps network. Couldn't exchange it because it was already opened. Really a bummer!

Nice but finished quickly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for my brother who has always like the need for speed series. He finished it rather quickly. but he sure liked it and loves the graphics and gameplay. If you've always been a fan of need for speed or just like racing games in general? surely the game for you.

Awesome... but always online
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Need for speed games have been hit of miss. Hits are Underground 1 & 2 and Most Wanted (2005). Misses are The Run, Most Wanted (2012), Carbon. Anyway this game is a hit, except don't see why it needs to be always online. Also wish it had an option to turn of the grain filter. Please bring back Drag Races!!!

Brings me back...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review....to the days of Need for Speed Underground. I've purchased and played nearly every Need for Speed game since and they've flip-flopped from Burnout arcade ridiculousness to Gran Turismo/Forza realism and back again. This is a good middle-ground that includes lots of aesthetic customization options (not as extreme as the Underground games) and handling fine-tuning with amazing visuals and fun driving mechanics. Drifting is easy and very satisfying. The cutscenes are really cheesy, but they do provide some back-story that allows for a little extra motivation to complete races. Although I haven't obtained all the random collectibles, I already have the platinum trophy for this game, one of the easiest I've ever worked towards. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I have researched this game and played at a friend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I have not bought this game yet. My friend owns it and I've played a little bit. Second don't complain that the developers evolved the game into a online imersion. Online is what they advertised so don't be surprised if like every other real time game the game continues after pausing. I like that there is no pause menu. It's pointless to pause a game if it doesn't actually pause. I.E. eso you don't pause you open your invetory or map and you can still get attacked and killed while in it. Third I like the new leveling and reputation system. It is completely simple. And the core of what makes you want to play with friends. Get a crew and build rep raising h€££ around the city like previous need for speeds but this time with friends and against real people. Who know you might race your boss. And finally burn rubber not your soul.

Overall, bad physics and always online aggravate.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a long time fan of the NFS franchise, this title left me disappointed yet hopeful for the future of the series. Always online requirement means that you must have an Internet connection established, otherwise you're unable to play the game, period. It also means that if EA decide to take servers offline, you're left with a worthless disc. The physics are also pretty much the worst I've played for an arcade racer. Phantom assists occasionally push or pull cars into walls for seemingly no reason and will be the bane of your street racing career. The story is aimed directly at energy drinking adolescents in an effort to romanticize the street racing/underground car culture, but only comes off feeling try hard and cringe inducing. A few highlights include the solid graphics from Dice's Frostbite Engine, a decent car list, and an as yet unbroken promise from the developer to keep updating the game freely(we'll see how that pans out in the long run)... Overall, it's only a mediocre game that I'd have a hard time recommending at this point in time. Hopefully the devs are true to their word and keep working towards polishing the game, but it's one that would have benefitted from a delayed release, as it currently feels mostly untested and unfinished. Don't buy this one at full price.
