Hello Cortland, thanks for sharing the details of your feedback on Nest Hub (2nd gen), and we’re sorry to hear that one of your Nest displays is performing below your expectations.

Your Nest display could be having trouble connecting to Google, and you can try these simple steps below that might help:
      - Check your Wi-Fi network for possible congestion. Relieving some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space.
      - Ensure that it is within a line of sight from your router.
      - Check for wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or appliances and devices nearby.
      - Reset your Nest display. On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.

    Defective Data Eater

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had it for a month and mine must defective as it is using an enormous amount of data. Near the end of last month I got a notification that I was reaching my data cap. I've never gotten that! I unplugged it for 3 days and behaved normally on my WiFi connection, and used only 3% of my data allowance. With it plugged back in for 11 days I have used 36% of my monthly data allowance. I have done research and The Hub is not supposed to do that; but Google Home App and the device itself are not very user friendly when trying to figure out why it is doing this. I have the mic, all motion and sleeping sensing features turned off so it is basically a glorified clock and still eating my data! And I'm 3 days passed the refund/return date, which is upsetting as a new unit might have been something I would be willing to try because it is a nice little machine.

Hi Mandia, thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that your Nest Hub (2nd Gen) is consuming more data than usual.

If you're willing to try, resetting your Nest Hub (2nd Gen) may be a good step to see if it might be able to fix the higher data usage issue. Keep in mind that this process will erase all data and that you may need to set it up again. To reset, check on the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting. You may then try and see if your Nest Hub (2nd Gen) will still consume more data than usual.

If resetting doesn't fix the issue, then we may need to take a closer look and see what may be causing the issue. You may speak to our support team using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

It was great until my wifi was changed. Now it is a paper weight. The settings are pretty and totally useless. I cannot find anything there to enable me to reset wifi settings. It is there, but someone wanted it to look pretty, but function was not important.

Thanks for reaching out, sum86. Sorry to hear you’re having problems reconnecting to your Wi-fi on your Nest Hub (2nd Gen) — that seems out of the ordinary. A factory reset can help solve that problem and here’s how:

On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting. Once it does, you’ll need to set up your device again.

If that doesn’t work, we’d be glad to investigate, reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I had a google speaker and I purchased a hub to work with my nest doorbell. The hub and the speaker are supposed to able to play the same music. That feature works, some of the time. The hub never did display the nest doorbell. I spent hours on the phone with Google support and they were all useless. I actually spoke to two different technicians that had roosters crowing in the background. It was almost impossible to hear the google tech over these birds. It’s not worth the aggravation.

Too slow and laggy to be usable. Not customizable - basically a tiny photo frame is it's main use. Recipes don't work. It freezes constantly. Can't play a song in Spotify without it stopping and loading throughout the song. YouTube is so buggy as to be useless. I've done all the troubleshooting - this device is poorly designed garbage.

Hi there, DougC. We appreciate your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Nest Hub (2nd gen).

If your speaker or display isn't connected to Wi-Fi at the time of the media alarm, a general alarm will sound instead. A range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your display. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. If you're experiencing a spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. This may happen if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion. If your device is mounted too far from your Wi-Fi router, you may need to extend your Wi-Fi network’s range using an extender, boosters or additional Wi-Fi access points.

We’re hoping for an opportunity to help you. Please contact us anytime here for additional assistance: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi jiddo, we appreciate your feedback and effort in trying to troubleshoot the issue. We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused by the connectivity issue of your Nest Hub.

Connectivity issues are sometimes related to different factors like Wi-Fi network congestion, distance of the device from the router, wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or devices nearby and outdated router firmware. If you’re willing, we suggest trying the steps below that might help:
      - Be sure you use the provided power supply of your Nest Hub and make sure it is connected directly to a wall outlet.
      - Try moving your Nest Hub near your router.
      - Unplug your Router and Nest Hub from electrical wall outlets for 60 seconds, then test if the same issue occurs.
      - Check for possible congestion in your network. Removing some of your connected devices may free up some bandwidth space.
      - Make sure that the phone or tablet and Google Home app are all up to date.
      - Turn off other connected devices to your Wi-Fi network to avoid congestion.
      - If you have a dual-band router, try setting up your Nest Mini on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more reliable.
      - As a last resort, perform a factory data reset on your Nest Hub. See the step by step guide here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7073477

"Hello there, SincereReviewer. Thanks for leaving feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your experience with the performance of your Nest Hub (2nd gen).

A range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your display. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the camera and your router as these items could block the connection. Cannot read or display email

I purchased this thinking I could use it on my desktop while working to display emails and notifications so I don't have to grab my phone every two minutes but when I went to check my email, Google Assistant informed me that 'This device does not support this feature' . Really Google? A Google smart display with built in Google Assistant can't show or read email? For me anyway, this renders the device useless and it will be going back.
