This is a good addition to the family. I can manage calendars, reminders, and watch Netflix and YouTube. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the limited apps on this. It’s not like a tablet so you only get what is loaded in this.

I purchased this based on a number of positive reviews. The WiFi in our house has been strong in some areas and weak in others. I had hoped this would help, but we have not noticed any improvement.

Hi Donna, thanks for choosing our Google Nest products. Nest Hub (2nd Gen) doesn't really provide any Wi-Fi router functions to help improve the Wi-Fi coverage area for your home. Rather, your Nest Hub comes with a lot of features that enable you to catch up on Netflix shows, watch YouTube videos, listen to music on the enhanced speaker, and more. With just a tap or with your voice, be able to control thousands of compatible smart devices from one central display. Nest Hub helps with your busy home. See your calendar and create reminders and to-dos.2 Wind down to soothing sounds at bedtime and wake up gently to a Sunrise Alarm. Make the most by visiting this page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/topic/7195269

However, if you're looking for a Wi-Fi mesh system that can help provide whole home coverage, we recommend checking out our Google Wi-Fi products here: https://store.google.com/us/product/google_wifi

Very slow to respond to touch or process voice requests. Finicky UI navagation. Not the worst speakers ever when it works properly, but all too often there are gaps in the audio or distortion. Sleep tracking is super finicky, and will require a subscription soon. Better off getting a cheap tablet and a bluetooth speaker. Sit them on a stand. You've just created a more reliable and capable hub.

Hi sendian82, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about the Nest Hub (2nd gen). We’re sorry to learn that you’re having issues with its performance and features. We understand it can be frustrating to deal with such issues and this is not the ideal experience we want you to have.

Nest display issues, similar to the issues you highlighted, are often caused by a spotty connection or weak signal. We suggest checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. If you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network, removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion. We also suggest the steps below that might help:

      - Check for possible interference. Appliances like your microwave oven, refrigerator or even your neighbors Wi-Fi network may cause interference with your Nest display.
      - Ensure that your Nest display is in line of sight with your Wi-Fi router to get the best signal strength and Wi-Fi coverage.
      - Restart your router, your modem and your Nest Hub.

If the issues persist after trying the steps above, we’d like to get more details about these issues as there could be other reasons why the Nest display is not performing well. We suggest reaching out to our specialist anytime and we’ll do our best to help improve your experience, here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi ItsLizzieYo, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know your issues with using the Nest Hub (2nd gen), and we’re sorry to learn of your poor experience with the performance of its Google Assistant.

Your Nest display could be having trouble connecting to Google, and these simple steps may clear these issues out:
      - Check your Wi-Fi network for possible congestion. Relieving some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space.
      - Check the distance between the Nest display and your router. Ensure that it is within a line of sight from your router.
      - Check for wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or appliances and devices nearby.
      - Restart Nest display and router to refresh the connection.
      - Reset your Nest display. On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.

Meanwhile, we also recommend adjusting how sensitive Google Assistant responds to the hotword “Hey Google”:
      - Open the Google Home app.
      - At the bottom, tap Home.
      - Select your Nest Mini or the device you want to adjust.
      - At the top right, tap Device settings > “Hey Google” sensitivity.
      - If you don’t find “Hey Google sensitivity,” first tap Audio.
      - Choose how sensitive you want Google Assistant to be when it responds to you.
      - To change this setting on another device, tap Adjust more devices.

Lastly, it may also be helpful to retrain your Google Assistant to better recognize your voice. See the steps below on how to do this:
      - On your phone or tablet, open the Google Home app
      - At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Assistant settings and then Voice Match.
      - Tap Teach your Assistant your voice again and then Retrain.

We're always looking for ways to create a better experience, and your feedback counts. And if you’d like to reach out to us for additional assistance, you'll find our contact details using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Pretty useless. You cant customize your podcasts, apps, or anything really its all 100% google suggestions. Which is like demo mode. I was impressed you can stream netflix and youtube tv. Speaker is okay. But lack of customization for google home, apps, and podcasts pretty much makes this a glorifoed speaker.

Hey there, TravisM. Thank you for sharing your review on Nest Hub (2nd gen). We're sorry to hear that your experience with the device was less than ideal when it comes to customization. If the app you're using for podcasts is linked to the Google Account on your Nest Hub (2nd gen), you can use voice commands to play a specific podcast you want to listen to. Poor. Microphone is poor compared to the little nest minis. No matter how you set the sensitivity 50% one of the minis in another room answers instead of the hub. The hub won't recognize my voice 75% of the time. I can't add anything to a shopping list because that function doesn't work with voice match and isn't available without it. It sometimes works with my home automation, sometimes it doesn't. I've had it for 2 years and it hasn't not improved in functionality or effectiveness. I loathe going back to alexa but these guns are trash.

If a different Nest device responds to your voice commands, check to make sure that you have linked the same Google accounts on your phone and other devices. The 2nd generation Google Nest Hub is a great device that provides access to your smart home and can also give insights into personal wellness using the new sleep tracking feature. The great thing about this device is that it comes with a host of features built all into one device. It provides all the functionality of a Google Nest Mini or Nest Audio being a smart speaker that you can control with your voice and has all that Google Assistant goodness. With that, you can also play music through this device (Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, Deezer, Apple Music) and what’s really cool is that if you have more than one Google Nest Smart Speaker device, you can group them together to play music on numerous devices at once. As a smart display, you can watch Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and a host of other video streaming apps on its 7 inch display, as well as display photos through Google Photos. It also provides access to your home video cameras if you have those set up, and these don’t necessarily need to be Nest cameras. I use Arlo cameras and they integrate perfectly fine using the Google Home app. It has a touchscreen display but this is probably the only area where there could be some improvement…and I’m being a little nit-picky with this but it’s really the only thing I noticed that wasn’t amazing. Touches are responsive and tapping areas of the display work well but with swipe gestures, which generally switch screens, the display doesn’t keep up as well. When you swipe, it may take a moment before the interface actually changes screens. In general it’s not a big deal and it’s not like I use this device for lengthy amounts of time like an iPad but just don’t expect something as responsive as a tablet. The newest feature which comes with this device is Sleep Sensing and this works very well. You’ll go through a short setup process providing some details about your sleep schedule which takes a couple minutes. And that’s it. It just automatically tracks your sleep from there providing you with how long you’ve slept, the time when you went to bed as well as how long you were in bed before you fell asleep, what time you woke up, if you woke up in the middle of the night, and then even more advanced stuff like respiratory rate, how many times you coughed, minutes snored, and the room temperature and how much light there was in the room. I compared these stats with a watch that has sleep tracking and it was astoundingly accurate. Very cool stuff and this information will also be synced over to Google Fit if you happen to use that app for tracking health and wellness. For $99, I think this device is easily worth it since it packs in so many features all in one.
