    Now a paper weight after changing wifi

    It was great until my wifi was changed. Now it is a paper weight. The settings are pretty and totally useless. I cannot find anything there to enable me to reset wifi settings. It is there, but someone wanted it to look pretty, but function was not important.

      On the back of Nest Hub, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting. Once it does, you’ll need to set up your device again.

    DO NOT BUY!

    Symptom: After a Google Home software update, Google Home Hub now stays stuck with the logo 'G' regardless when trying to do a factory reset. Google Service Specialist's response: It shouldn't do that, and you passed your 1-year warranty last September. The resolution is to go buy another one. My thoughts I've been a google fan and champion for as long as I can remember. If a software update bricks your device, I'd assume that there should be a solution for that. It's not as if the user has damaged it, but rather the company is at fault. For me to now go buy another device, with the expectation for it to fail within a year and a bit is absolutely ridiculous. When I first go the google home hub, it wasn't as useful as I first thought of it, and at least I was able to use it as a picture frame and then my son's display to play youtube videos. After the initial resolution the specialist provides, it now makes me question the level of quality of the software-hardware and support (which I never thought I would have to question). Is this something now that I have to question on all potential future purchases?

    Don’t buy it.

    This was a big part of my managing my home until it stopped responding to voice commands. Done everything recommended but doesn’t work. Both of them have died. Would not buy again

      We suggest adjusting the volume of your Nest speaker that can improve its sound either by voice, by touch, or from the Google Home App. You can also change the audio settings of your speaker in the Google Home app following the steps below:
      - Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Nest speaker.
      - Open the Google Home app.
      - Tap the device you want to adjust, select Settings, select Audio, then select Equalizer.

    Nest Hub

    This new unit is 12ft away from the the main wi-fi and mesh router. On most day's i have to re-boot the Smart Display. I also replaced the unit downstairs, its installed 2x from the mesh router downstairs. This unit reconnects without having to reboot the Hub.

    Defective Data Eater

    I've had it for a month and mine must defective as it is using an enormous amount of data. Near the end of last month I got a notification that I was reaching my data cap. I've never gotten that! I unplugged it for 3 days and behaved normally on my WiFi connection, and used only 3% of my data allowance. With it plugged back in for 11 days I have used 36% of my monthly data allowance. I have done research and The Hub is not supposed to do that; but Google Home App and the device itself are not very user friendly when trying to figure out why it is doing this. I have the mic, all motion and sleeping sensing features turned off so it is basically a glorified clock and still eating my data! And I'm 3 days passed the refund/return date, which is upsetting as a new unit might have been something I would be willing to try because it is a nice little machine.

      If you're willing to try, resetting your Nest Hub (2nd Gen) may be a good step to see if it might be able to fix the higher data usage issue.     An expensive clock for your nightstand

    The sunrise alarm is like a flashlight in the face. It's basically become a very expensive clock for me. I wouldn't recommend for the bedroom, don't know about other parts of the house.

    Google will not warranty the device.

    Screen gave out before the Warranty period expired, but Google will not service it because they don't consider PR for their shipping and return services. I bought it through best buy which is supposed to be an authorized retailer. Well since we are "outside" the continental USA, google has refused to service the defective device. So if you buy this and live in PR know that Google will refuse to service/warranty your device which is just absurd.

    I had a google speaker and I purchased a hub to work with my nest doorbell. The hub and the speaker are supposed to able to play the same music. That feature works, some of the time. The hub never did display the nest doorbell. I spent hours on the phone with Google support and they were all useless. I actually spoke to two different technicians that had roosters crowing in the background. It was almost impossible to hear the google tech over these birds. It’s not worth the aggravation.

    Too slow and laggy to be usable. Not customizable - basically a tiny photo frame is it's main use. Recipes don't work. It freezes constantly. Can't play a song in Spotify without it stopping and loading throughout the song. YouTube is so buggy as to be useless. I've done all the troubleshooting - this device is poorly designed garbage.

    Do not buy google hub if you plan to use it as part of a speaker group. Google disabled this feature on all hub devices without any warning to owners an no compensation for the loss of the feature.

    Horrible customer service and no help

    Our devices have bewn giving us issues for over a year and we have done all the steps they suggested to fix them. None have worked for more than an hour. We were just told they cant do anything and we arw on our own. 9 devices i have. What a waste of money

    Was great but now after about 5 months of having it i can’t see the clock display at night when i turn off the lights there has to be a light on in order to see the display. So if i wake up during the night to see what time it is i can’t see it. Very disappointed on that

    Radio Alarms do not work

    From what i experienced and what i read on on google support, a radio alarm does not function on this device. This has been a software bug since September 2022 and has yet to be fixed.

    Cannot get this thing to connect to our spectrum WiFi. Other google devices will but not this one. I wanted to love it but it’s just not working. I even YouTubed it and nothing.

      Connectivity issues are sometimes related to different factors like Wi-Fi network congestion, distance of the device from the router, wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or devices nearby and outdated router firmware. If you’re willing, we suggest trying the steps below that might help:
      - Be sure you use the provided power supply of your Nest Hub and make sure it is connected directly to a wall outlet.
      - Try moving your Nest Hub near your router.
      - Unplug your Router and Nest Hub from electrical wall outlets for 60 seconds, then test if the same issue occurs.
      - Check for possible congestion in your network. Removing some of your connected devices may free up some bandwidth space.
