The programmable routines work super well, and I quite enjoy how dim and bright the screen gets for sleeping purposes. Overall if you’ve thought about getting one of these or are trying to upgrade from a nest mini without blowing the budget this is a solid option.

I suggested this as an alternative because of the added Google features that would help out in the kitchen and allow other features like music and video playback. Overall she mainly uses it for the pictures, but the added features being there is a nice to have.

Longevity/reliability is an issue and the app is very clunky. Google really ruined Nest unfortunately.

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker.
2. Open the Google Home app.
3. Tap and hold your device's tile.
4. At the top right, tap Settings, then More, and then Reboot.

While you don’t need the subscription to use the device, having it unlocks additional features to enhance your experience.
