We're sorry to learn that your experience with your Nest Hub(2nd gen) didn't meet your expectations when it comes to it's performance in a normal sized room. We'd recommend that you change the audio settings of your Nest Hub in the Google Home app. You can adjust bass and treble levels by following the steps here:
-Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your Nest Hub.
-Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
-Touch and hold your device's tile.
-At the top right, tap Settings and then Audio and then Equalizer.
-Adjust Bass and Treble level.

Just ordered the New model too to test it out. What I particularly like about google devices is that you are able to link so many different services with them from google music to multiple others that you may use. Which is not limited like Alexa

You can also change the audio settings of your Nest speaker in the Google Home app following the steps below:

It does everything I need it to do. It also senses the ambient light in the room and will dim itself down to almost nothing at night with the lights off which is great.
