Love this device! We did not have a chime and people were ringing the doorbell and we were missing them. This was exactly what we needed.

Not sure why I didn't buy one of these sooner...we have Google home/nest home devices all over our house and this is a great addition. We bought two. One for the living room and 9ne for the bedroom. They make excellent photo frames while also serving as a smart speaker

It’s great because it alerts me when there’s someone at the doorbell with a google nest doorbell. Alright for playing music if you’re not too picky about audio quality, it’s alright.

Terrible for "Smart" features, but good for photos

Overall, terrible for "smart" features. Purchased during Black Friday/ Holiday sale, and not even worth it at that price, let alone full price. 'Hey Google' is painfully slow, many seconds of delay shown by the "live" transcription of your query. It often doesn't even respond to the wake phrase "Hey Google" fast enough to catch your whole question, so if you repeat yourself you end up asking Google a duplicate question. The processor is most likely to blame, as even using the touchscreen is noticeably laggy, with delayed reactions, and stuttering animations. You'll often have to repeat touchscreen gestures because it just wont respond accurately. It can't even animate sliding photos or menu options smoothly. Then it goes onto the smart features, If you want to pair it with a compatible camera, Arlo for example, it takes ages for it to load. And you have to say "Camera" as part of the word, such as "Hey Google show me the Doorbell Camera" not just "Doorbell" which it can't understand and brings up a Google websearch for "Doorbell". A cheaper, but smaller 5" Gen 2 display from a competing brand handled this much better with way faster response times, and you can just say "Hey -----, show me the Doorbell" and it shows. Also when the camera did show, it was way more 'washed out' compared to the competitor, and a much lower frame rate as well. Accessing the manual smart home features for light controls and other smart home integrations was much better than the competitions, however the slow response times of the device basically made those integrations useless. Really the only thing great about it was its ability to show your Google Photos, especially if you auto sync your phone photo gallery automatically with Google Photos. It offers a hands free slideshow, that almost appears curated. You dont have to manage photo albums, or uploading any photos manually, it just shows what you've already synced. I've factory reset it a couple of times, and made sure it was on the latest firmware, but online reviews have commented on its poor performance from many months ago, so I have no hopes it will be fixed soon. So I've returned it. Overall, its a pretty good photo display (for those using Google Photos) but an awful smart display.

This is great! My wife loves using this for her music too. It has a bit of a lag to it and there are a bunch of things on the menu that we wish we could take off, but it won't allow us to customize it. Other than that, it's great.

I had been debating purchasing this with my Nest doorbell because of the compatibility and if i were to have the doorbell ring while i was in a different room, that I wouldn't have to unlock my phone, and open the app. My only complaint is that this model isnt capable of video calls on Google Meet (previously Google Duo).

Hi Tanaya, thanks for the feedback you shared about the Nest Hub (2nd gen). With a Nest display, you’ll be able to see who’s at the door. You can also connect the Nest display and set up visitor announcements if you want to get notified when someone rings your doorbell. If you’ve set up a Nest camera or doorbell, it should already be added to the Google Home app. After you’ve added the camera, you can even use your voice to stream your camera video. Check the links below for more details:

Get doorbell visitor announcements on a speaker or display: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451
Stream your security camera using your Google Nest display: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9137164

Also, you can make and receive video and audio calls with other Duo users on your Google Nest or Home speakers or displays using Duo. While Duo is being updated to Google Meet, there’s no change to the experience on your Nest speakers and displays. You can continue to call friends and family as you normally would on your speaker or display. Sure, being able to say 'Hey Google, whats the capital of New Hampshire?' is awesome. But whats better is setting it up with smart lights and saying 'Hey Google, turn out the lights' while all cozy in bed.

This is a good purchase, but I bought it to upgrade from my 1st gen Nest Hub. Then, I realized that I wouldn't ever use the sleep monitoring feature, rendering the upgrade completely worthless so I ended up returning it. But if you're buying this as a new Nest Hub, it's worth every penny.
