Pulling this unit out of the box was a simple task, underneath the main unit is a box with the plug that goes to the unit. Once plugged in it mentioned to download the Google home app which we did on an iOS device and a Android device. At first I set it up through my Android device, but I then reset it by holding down the two volume buttons for three to 10 seconds and it reset and started a process out again and set it up with the iOS device. I was able to join a previously established home network where I already have speakers. And this I also found it to have decent settings and layouts within the Google home app and it is in my thoughts a bit better than having the nest many since it has a screen attached to it. The screen was quite clear as far as brightness is concerned and for accessibility features there is screen readers and other settings that can be toggled on within the Google home app which can be helpful. The speaker is pretty good at noting the volume whenever spoken to and as well as the layout is pretty decent as far as lights media other tools within the main screen and you can set it up as a photo frame if you much rather have photos instead of a clock at your bedside or otherwise. The color is almost like a pinkish hue of sand which still looks decent even though it's a sand and it is quite compact in size so it does not take up too much space and sounds as loud as a mini wood. Of course you can still pair up other nest audio or speakers that you would like to this unit, but it was a really easy process and paired up nicely once you get the hang of Google home and adding it to already established items.

I was told it works with ADT security so you can view your front door camera on the Google Nest. The ADT guy said I need Google cameras in order to do that. i used to be able to control the Google Nest from my phone through bluetooth, but now my phone isn’t finding it. It does have good sound though.

The setup was incredibly straightforward, and the device seamlessly integrated with my existing smart home devices. The display is bright and clear, making it perfect for viewing photos, checking the weather, or watching videos. I particularly love the voice assistant feature, which is responsive and accurate, making everyday tasks like setting reminders, playing music, and getting news updates effortless. The Nest Hub's design is sleek and modern, fitting well in any room. Overall, the Google Nest Hub is a versatile and user-friendly smart display that I highly recommend to anyone looking to enhance their smart home experience. Five stars!

I'm new to smart home equipment. This display is good. I didn't realize all the options. You can cast video or play the news on it, so if you want a bigger screen option, take that into consideration. There is an option to take Duo audio calls only with this version with no video camera. I decided to forgo the video camera. Having a smart device with a video camera seemed a bit weird to me.

We have had a Lenovo Smart Display with Google assistant in our kitchen for the last six years and have loved it for providing a central video-based screen for Google Home functions. We often used it to give us recipes by saying something like “ok Google give me a recipe for the best krab cakes ever”. The device would then pull up recipes from websites that gave us a pictorial recipe at our fingertips. Well now comes “SafeSearch” from Google, which basically highjacked our Lenovo hub and prevented it from displaying ANY website. No more fingertip recipes. If we try the request above, a screen pops up saying it cannot show website views. And there is no way to disable SafeSearch in the Home app, nor is Lenovo updating the firmware to make the hub a SafeSearch compatible device. So to get our beloved visual recipes back, it seemed like we needed to retire the Lenovo hub and replace it with a Google hub. At least a Google device would be SafeSearch compatible. We purchased a 7” Nest Hub and brought it home for a try. Works great and did everything that our Lenovo did, including opening up websites again, The two downsides however are 1. Websites take considerable time to show up and load as you scroll down the screen. 2. Scrolling down the screen is done by swiping your finger up on the screen, but more aften than not you end up engaging the quick task bar at the bottom of the screen instead. The device clearly has a minimal chipset / memory, which is not surprising given the low price. It is also too small for decent scrolling operation. Our old Levono was an 8” device which was probably the smallest size to scroll properly with. Bottomline - we will be taking this back to Bestbuy tomorrow and give the big brother Goigle hub a try to see if it performs any better.. It is a bit concerning that Google basically deactivated website viewing on a device heralding this ability when we bought it. Google should at the very least allow the SafeSearch feature to be disabled if desired.

One of the better purchases in making my home a smart home. This is a must-have. Listening to music, seeing your photos every time you pass by it, setting alarms. Really completes your smart home ecosystem.

I was gifted this for Father’s Day. I put it in my office at work. It has great sound and video. I haven’t had it very long. So far I really enjoy having it on my desk. I can get up to date news and listen to music. I haven’t been able to get iHeart radio on it yet. It might not be available on this platform . I can get YouTube music. I would buy it again. Maybe even the larger version.

I've been using the Nest Hub Max for over a year now, but after some rearranging, the size of the Max was just too big for where I needed it, so I purchased the 7 inch Nest Hub. While the sound isn't as good as the max, it is still good sound. I use this in the bedroom as an alarm clock, morning reminders, weather, traffic information. If you're on the Google train, this is an excellent product to have in your arsenal.
