Would definitely recommend to my friends and family. We got this because we recently had a baby and wanted to start upgrading our home to a smart home to make things easier on us.

I added lights and my cameras to it and it works great. I got this when it was on sale so it was worth it to me.

Moved my Google Mini into the bedroom and set Google Nest Hub Max with Google Assistant in the kitchen. It took some patience to set it up. It requires quite a bit of counter space compared to the Mini and it reacts differently. Overall, however, it's a nice addition to my home and I'm getting used to it.

I ask it questions all the time and doesn't know half of what i ask.

The software setup, however, is a nightmare. The device is actually a dumb slave to multiple apps that have to be on an individual's phone and working just-so. Simple actions like changing the network settings are like pushing wet ropes. I have spent over 20 hours trying to get the settings to work remotely for my (senior) relatives. The lack of documentation (except in fragmented Q&A) makes it harder to interpret what these apps need to work correctly, and the lack of phone support means there is nowhere to turn for help. If you are GenZ / Millennial, it will be easy for you to set up, why not just use your phone?

Use if for info, access to streaming TV and showing pictures of the grand-kids.

Best feature may be the in home security camera when I’m away. I have one in my kitchen. Great for recipes and adding stuff to my grocery list or watching YouTube

However, I do not think "Hey Google" is as "smart" as Amazon Alexa. Also, the whole "hey google" thing is not as easy as Alexa. All in all, the camera and photo features are good, but not sure I'd buy this again for the other features.
