Just like the original Hub, only bigger and better

Having owned three Google Home Minis, I was excited when the original Hub came out. It added the visual aspect to the minis that was sorely lacking. I bought the original Hub thinking it would be perfect for the kitchen, big enough, but not too big. Unfortunately I found it wasn't quite big enough for even our 14-foot square kitchen. Both the screen and the speaker were undersized. Enter the Nest Hub Max. It solves the problems of its predecessor. The screen is big and beautiful. The speakers are loud and clear. But the Max isn't just a screen. It adds a Nest camera that allows you to make video calls or just check in on the house when you're gone. It's fully integrated into the Nest app, so you get alerts for motion, noise and familiar faces.

Works as expected with easy setup. You have the option to turn off the camera on the app. I primarily got this to replace my smaller nest hub so the camera wasn’t a factor on my decision. Primary location for this would be the kitchen. The sound is definitely a big noticeable boost with the new size. Watching YouTube TV and Netflix looks a lot better given the tablet size screen I no longer need to lug my iPad Pro around the house. Nest Doorbell video works good on the hub max.

Absolutely love my nest hub Max. It makes my life so much easier with all of its features. This is the second one I purchased. I initially bought one for my bedroom but purchased this one for my kitchen so I can play the news, music or watch YouTube videos while I'm in the kitchen. When not in use I love how aesthetically pleasing it is and the fact that it is a digital picture frame for My favorite family photos and video clips. Also I'm one of those people that "forget" to take my clothes out of the dryer at night so when my alarm goes off on my hub in the morning I can tell it to start my dryer to get the wrinkles out and then tell it to start my Keurig so I can have the motivation to get out of the bed. It works flawlessly with so many smart devices and home appliances that it's impossible to list them all. I also love how it has a built-in camera for home security and video chatting. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Never had a smart display before and only ever owned one Google Home (original air freshener one). I bought this because I was interested in owning one and it came with a camera and was larger compared to the regular Nest Hub. So far I can say that I love it. The screen isn't distracting and I am completely fine with the Hub being placed in my room (Don't have a clock in my bedroom so the dim screen works perfectly as a clock and alarm when needed). Also I know most people wouldn't be comfortable with a camera in their living space but for myself atleast the advantages outweigh the mentioned. I can use the camera to check up on my dog and cat (who love to sleep in my room while me and my girlfriend are gone) and also I can duo call whenever my girlfriend is home and have a wonderful face call. Now the only reason I haven't given this a 5 is the price. At $230 this was my only downside. If this was $200 I would definitely give it a 5 because that seems more reasonable in my head. Nonetheless great screen, great sound, fun to have around.

I have home hubs and home hub max's all over my house for controlling all the start home devices. This is a great addition and has a place in any home in addition to the regular hub. The sound quality is much better and the screen as well. The price is a bit high and if you do not have smart home items to control (lights, thermostat, camera, locks,...) them I'm not sure if it is worth the price but if you do then hands down a must buy.

We are very happy with our purchase. We gave this as Birthday present to my elderly mother. The video camera on it is super helpful for us to be able to talk to and check on my elderly mother who has limited mobility so can’t always get to her phone. The camera recognizes faces also so will move around the room as she moves so we can see her better. My mom loves being able to ask it questions because it looks up the answer with ease for her and reads it to her. This is extremely helpful for her as she cannot see well enough anymore to be able to type or use her computer to look up something on Google. She also loves that she can have it call us by just using her voice. She was so surprised when I said to it, “Hey Google, sing Happy Birthday to my mom.” And it did! She loved that! Fantastic product!

Its helpful as a central hub to control smart home devices but its also a bit clunky.. if you had to change wifi for example, you basically have to factory reset the whole device and then join the new network rather than change it directly.. also some features are a bit awkward to use like voice calling and vide calling cause whenever i call from it people see no caller id and its a bit weird.. also Google assistant is a bit inconsistent sometimes but.. its not too bad.

I upgraded to this model since my family enjoys the 7" version - Great choice! With the Max, you get everything that the 7" version had, all will a bigger screen and camera. I must say it's much better watching news and video on this device compared to the previous version. The sound is also really good. We haven't used the camera much but it is a nice addition and it is also useful for facial recognition.

The hub max is a big improvement over the smaller Google home displays. The speaker sounds so much better and much more bass. The camera on the front is convenient if you want to see what's going on in your house while you're away. You can also easily turn off the cam and mic if desired, simply by sliding a switch. The price is a little high, but we use this device throughout the day every day.

This is a great sound upgrade from the first generation Nest Hub. The sub-woofer on the back really adds great effect to the sound quality. Bigger screen as well as front camera for video calls. You have the option to turn off the camera on this or use as a security camera to see your house when your away. My house is invested in google smart tech and I am very pleased with what they have to offer.

I am a professional geek, and I have had an Amazon Echo for years, but the Google Nest Hub Max is currently the best option today in my opinion. Buying a Google Nest Hub is the only way to get access to the Google Assistant, which I think is much nicer than the Amazon Echo Alexa. The Hub Max is not perfect, but it is really a leap in the right direction. It ties in with my other Nest Thermostats and Nest Cameras so I can see everything in one place and the screen is big enough to watch video without straining. I won't waste time on how you can get the news, weather, sports, recipes and other videos right when you need them just by asking. You need a smart phone or tablet to set up the device with Google Home App, and you can't even adjust the audio bass and treble without the App. Why can't they add some tablet features or voice requests so I don't need to go find my phone or tablet just to adjust the sound? You also can't add a Nest Thermostat or Camera directly from the Hub, you must use a phone or tablet. The Hub will only process one thing at a time, so don't think you can watch two things at once. If you start looking at the news, then ask about the weather and then set a timer for cooking, you need to back out of each or ask it too resume one of the paused services. It does have a volume control on the back, and a camera and mic cutoff switch. I wish these were independent as I would like to make calls without the camera. I'm hoping in another ten years the technology will catch up with our expectations. This could be easily achieved today by just providing this as an App on a Google Chrome Book. We all would probably get more use out of a smart home laptop/tablet while still buying a Google device. I would also like it rechargeable with a wireless dock so that I can pick up the screen and take it with me around the house.

I purchased the max hub after having the smaller 7 inch unit. Its entertaining and fun. It was easy to set up since I already had the google home app. I also like that the camera can be covered when not needed or wanted. It has a pretty good sound for what it is (its speaker size). It's worth the sale price.

When you think about it, this really is the beginning of the robotic revolution! It's the first smart device that can follow your voice and turn with a motorized display. Think Rosie from the Jetsons, only without the wheels. I imagine that will be here with the next Echo Show. Considering putting her on top of my Roomba just for laughs. The only problem is the cord. Oh well. So, setup was ridiculously easy. It was already configured to my account, and we have several Alexa devices in the home controlling lights, monitoring security cameras, and controlling our 2 thermostats. Plug it in and follow the prompts. It even found my WiFi automatically. Super easy. The screen is big and beautiful! It's bigger and about as bright as my 9" iPad. And the camera seems to have been upgraded too. It's 12MP and does surprisingly well in low light. I can say, "Alexa, show my the front door," and my Blink Outdoor camera pops right up! Looks awesome. Response is very quick too, probably due to the upgraded processor.

Good product overall. There is room for improvement. The speaker is awesome but if you increase the volume to a certain level is hard for the device to hear you. and i am not talking about full volume. I had the previous version for year and no problem. this is a great product.

Love this thing. I've had the 2nd gen (smaller) hub for a few years now, and knew I wanted a larger version for our kitchen as we have the perfect island for it now. This tech - although I admit is not NECESSARY for every day life, definitely adds convenience to the kitchen. I cook all of our meals, so it's a great place to have my recipe's up instead of on my phone. I also play music and podcasts on it for the home and the speaker is excellent. If I had to nitpick, I wish it had the ability to run multiple tasks - for example, I wish I could run youtube in the corner as I have a recipe taking up most of the real estate. Sadly, it's one function at a time. But, I knew that coming into the purchase.
