Best Home Smart System/Ecosystem ON the market

I will start by saying I got this on sale for $190 - at $230 this review is the exact same - I would buy this on sale or at MSRP it is simply THAT good and I am a real snob and rarely shop items, not on sale. To start - at 10" this is the perfect system for all your smart home needs. Check your nest cameras? Got it. Movie or youtube video in the Kitchen/office? Done. Lound speaker to rock out randomly while working? Kills it. Need to turn lights off in half your house, set a routine for them, or change their color/intensity? It does that too! Since I have gotten this speaker (about 7 months now) the software keeps getting better! The only knock I have on the HUB is that the colors it comes in kinda don't make sense. All white comes with a white-facing screen - Ok I get that. The black body comes with a white-facing screen as well? I assume this is to cut down on production costs but it would be nice for a uniform color construction. If this is the only gripe I can come up with then I think that says the level of quality put into the device because I can be very nit-picky. I find this interconnects with my nest cameras and my Phillips hue lights significantly better than my iPhone or Homepod EVER did or have. I also have the Nest hub max - love that as well but let me make a big distinction. If you are buying this as a once-a-day or here and there screen this is amazing and works great - however, if you are like me and work at home the screen is surprisingly big enough. My Hub max takes everything I throw at it from Jamming in the office while I work to watching a movie while working (don't tell my boss) with the ability to switch over to my nest cameras and back to my movie easily. The sound on this is surprisingly good and fills up my 10x12 office very well! You certainly would need more than just this to fill up a living room or well-sized kitchen but for most needs, this takes care of all of them exceedingly. Let's strip some features away - let's say you don't have hue lights or nest cameras. This is still a great bedside alarm and media player. It connects to Spotify and can read out general news and reports in the morning if you set it up to do that (and it isn't that hard the home app is amazing). It truly has some great features such as watching Disney, Netflix, youtube, or HULU and it looks good on its display (and I am a resolution snob for full transparency). If you are here to compare the Google Home vs the Amazon Home ecosystem this is what I will say. I personally prefer the google home ecosystem better - I switched from the Apple home ecosystem because it didn't work that well for my lifestyle however I find that this interconnects with my home better than what I have seen the Amazon products. You have to buy into the Google ecosystem a bit to take advantage of the full features however that goes with all of them at this point. Final end of the line choice - at $190 you can't beat this product and what it does. It just doesn't get better than this price to performance as this is really a complete home system from security to entertainment and smart home control I have never had a device do so many things and do them all very well.

The size is perfect for photos, the mic is very responsive, great sound and the camera is a bonus. We use google to control all the lights in the house. Only con is, a little on the high price side.

This is my 6th Google Max Hub. I like them so much I also give them out as gift to my family members and this one to a close friend... It's a nice size screen, it acts as a picture frame with slide shows of my photos, I watch online medias and ask Google to show me my security cameras and adjust smart home devices... It's always a good buy...

Pros/Cons Pros: Once it's set up correctly... -Easy to use to make internet phone calls -great for keeping in another room to see who is at the door or on nest cameras -Can set your own background -it can allow for auto dimming so it isn't very bright when sleeping -Works well when you want to search google for something Cons: -Price is too high -When I ask google on my phone to call someone. It will transfer to this device every time even if I'm on another floor and over 300 feet away sometimes... -Searches aren't always as effective versus when I do them on my phone with google -You can't mount it flat to the wall if you wanted, since the stand can't be removed. WANTS FOR THIS PRODUCT!!! -Lower price -Setting to reduce range of assistant working from your phone -Allow the stand to be removable so it can be mounted flat on the wall. Make the home look cleaner. -Reduce the protection plan's price from BestBuy.

    Big Upgrade from Nest Hub

As an avid Google product owner and having purchased several Nest Hubs for myself and family members, this is quite a step up from the original model. Aside from the obviously larger screen and noticeably crisper screen, this device functions great as a multimedia center, house phone and smart home controller, all without having to fiddle with small on-screen controls. In addition, the built-in camera add some neat features like hand gesture controls and facial recognition to show appropriate content. All in all, I am quite impressed with this unit.

Have it in the kitchen, the audio is pretty strong. Use it for streaming TV shows while cooking and having dinner. Spotify / Google Music while having breakfast. The personal pictures slideshow is the awesome, seeing nice family photos brings back good memories. The weather and time are easy to see at a glance and it has a built in Google / Nest camera, pretty cool. Definitely a useful device to have if you use Google calendar, smart lights, youtube, find / call my phone.

I have Google cameras and the fact I can say ok Google and it answers any question I have is so great. I have to Google doorbell and I can see who's at my door and talk to them. If you have Google cameras or just good eco system it is definitely worth the purchase! Also, the fact the screen is so much bigger and so clear is definitely worth it. I used to have a small Alexa and the difference is crazy!

Great addition to my Home Automation system. I like the 10” display. I can read it while I’m still sitting in my recliner. Was easy to set up. I like that the controls are in the back so nothing covers up the display. The display is very clear and sharp. Was easy to setup with Google Home and add routines.

Made a wholesale change from the other brand to Google, mostly because I use Android phones and can link Google searches from the Max to my phone easily. PROS: - The overall sound is pretty decent. - The ability to use in the kitchen for recipes is great. - Easily connects with Roomba, Arlo, Wemo, Nooie, Sensi, etc. - Transfers searches from Max to your phone automatically - Ideal for routines such as bedtime or good morning updates CONS: - Won't yet connect to Ring Highly suggest downloading the app so you can see what all can be connected. You will not be disappointed.

As an owner of the original Google Home Hub I was utterly impressed by the Nest Hub Max. It has a much better speaker, it has a much larger and better display. It now has a camera which can be used for video calls but much better, it can be used as a nest camera allowing you to stream the video anywhere in the world. It is also smart enough to allow you to turn off the Nest video streaming when you are home allowing you to use it as a security camera when you are out.

Versatile smart device powered by Google

Versatile smart device powered by Google, highly useful but affected by some increasingly random bugs. All the touted benefits are still present and accounted for, with super functional large rouchscreen. The larger sized screen is useful for viewing media, or taking/making video calls. The sound quality of this larger smart screen also pays dividends when listening to music or media. Bass levels are better than you'd expect, and both mid and high ranges are more than capable. Google is still, by far, the most intuitive and comprehensive search engine, and it shows with devices like this. It outshines Alexa and Siri with search results or smart home commands, or just general enquiries. This is not to say, however, that the Google engine is without hiccups - in fact over the years Google voice recognition accuracy seems to be degrading. At random times, a command that is well known and accepted by the system will yield unintended results despite being 99% foolproof historically, For example, you might say, "hey Google, turn on the bedroom lamp" and expect it to do so flawlessly, because that command has been working for years, without issues. In recent years, every once in a while a simple command like that will result in an inexplicable error, and continue to cause problems until seemingly at random, it is resolved and works as per usual again, Not sure why this is, but it IS a quirk that has been creeping into Google powered devices so be warned. The Nest Hub Max might be on the verge of being updated or replaced in Google's product cycle, but it is still a worthy purchase if you want to have a hub which has a ton of versatility. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but at sale prices, it is absolutely a gadget worth owning

      Posted .

Hi there Adrian, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear that you are pleased with Nest Hub Max, and we do apologize if you’re experiencing some issues randomly.

For voice recognition, sometimes, your Nest Hub Max might not activate when you say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” particularly in a noisy environment. If this frequently happens, you can make it more sensitive to the hotword. If you haven't tried yet, we recommend retraining Nest Hub Max with your voice using the Voice Match feature to better recognize your voice commands:

      Retrain Voice Match
      - On your phone or tablet, open the Google Home app
      - At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Assistant settings and then Voice Match.
      - Tap Teach your Assistant your voice again and then Retrain.

      Change Nest Hub’s hotword sensitivity
      - Open your Google Home app
      - Select your Nest Hub Max
      - At the top right, tap the Settings (Gear) icon
      - Then tap Audio.
      - Then tap "Hey Google" sensitivity and adjust the slider to make your Nest Hub Max more responsive to the hotword.

We value your feedback, and your satisfaction is what drives us in improving our products and services. If you need any help, you can always reach out to our support team. Please feel free to contact us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Makes the original google home hub look tiny. What I like most about this is the speaker -100x better than the original home hub, and way better than a mini. I'd say the speaker is even better than the original google home. Just not quite as good as the google home max speaker, but that's expected. I like the camera (can use it to monitor when you are not home), however, I wish the camera had night sight like the rest of my nest cameras do. Overall I love this thing. Works great in the kitchen for a picture frame, looking up recipes, a timer, telling me about my day, etc.

This is one of the best purchases I made in recent times. I already have one Nest hub mini, but this 10 inch Hub Max is a killer. Never realized how useful this is on kitchen top. My photos keep running. My wife watches her favorite videos / Netflix movies while cooking. Sound is great. We also used the camera to when we went out on vacation to monitor our home. I would recommend this as a must item to have it. So simple to set up and easy to use. Picture clarity is so great and sound is super.

Love it. Installed in my kitchen. Be absolutely sure you have your wifi and GPS turned on your phone or tablet you are using Google home on before set up. Should you get stuck because you didn't (like I didn't), pressing and holding volume up and down button for 10 seconds will reset unit. Tracking for video calls works very nicely. I do like facial recognition. My google calendar comes up when I am in room. Duo video calls are crisp with no delay. Sound is always subjective but I think sound is very good. Better than the mini, not quite as good as sonos. Only had a little distortion at highest setting. Added to an existing speaker group easily . Display is very pretty and with adaptive lighting looks more like a real photo than say a picture on a tablet. Love having my pictures from google photo albums rotate. As with other google home devices I have trouble with Arlo cameras not being available from time to time, but I have traced that issue to Arlo, not Google home. (Unless you must have battery power for outdoor cams, I would skip Arlo cameras. Indoor arlo cans also have significant delays) It does everything it is advertised to do very well. I am pleased and would but another if I needed a camera and display in other rooms.

I originally purchased the Smart Hub (gen 1) and loved it. It's only flaw was the sound wasn't that great. So i returned it for the Smart Hub Max and I am very pleased. The sound is 10X better, the screen is bigger and it adds a camera. It is the Perfect kitchen companion and every home should have one. It is now the center of my smart home. We use it for everything and it works flawlessly. Easy set up and simple commands to make it work.
