This works fine as a thermostat. It is supposed to learn your patterns. However, it often sets the temperature to my away temp while I'm still home. Also, it doesn't natively do geofencing. However, you can use IFTTT web service to get geofencing features.

nest is great, while It is expensive being able to set away and control scheduling makes it so much easier to actually manage your thermostat instead of set and forget.

I bought the first generation and it didn't work with my heating and cooling system. The second generation Nest has exceeded my expectations. So happy I purchased it.

I highly recommend the Nest Thermostat if you are in the market for a smart programmable thermostat. It was so easy to setup and install; took me less than 10 minutes. The Nest knows when I leave, knows when I come home and learns your whole schedule to help save money. There are so many features and you can control your temperature and schedule anywhere you have access to internet. I recommend the Nest to anyone!

I recently replaced my first generation Nest with this second generation Nest and my energy bill has decreased further. The new Nest also eliminated a banging noise made by the outside unit when it turned off and on. Very pleased with this purchase.

This was a gift for my kids. They are extremely pleased with The Nest and all the extra items that can be used with it. It will save on their heating bills.

The thermostat works great. I still think its a little too pricey but for what it does I will continue to use them. My previous nest was damaged due to lightning so this is a repurchase.

I really was excited to use this product and save big money. It also promised to work with my UP24 fitness band to aid in my sleep. It has done neither. I actually catch it heating up the house when I'm away just to cool it down when I get home. No kidding. I know it has bugs and will get better but right now I'm saying wait till the next version which is out soon I think.

I kept looking to buy this but did not pull the trigger. So glad I finally did. It is very user friendly and really helped us get control of our gas usage.

It's very simple to set up and program this thermostat. I particularly like the fact that it keeps track of your heating/cooling usage so you can adjust the temperature to your own specifications. Definitely worth the money.

This is the best functioning and looking thermostat I've ever owned. We don't run ac much so the learning aspect will have to wait until heating season.

Nest was a gift and it was fast to setup for them. I have installed several WiFi / Zigbee thermostats and this was faster, not that is due to newer technology and 10 years have gone by since the last wireless unit. I would get another one.

Very simple to install and set up. Gets better every day. Product even helped me learn things my home system could already do that I did not know about.

Got this 2nd generation Nest to replace a 1st gen one that died after about 2 years of use. Bit of a luxury, since they're so expensive, but it's great to control it from your phone. I've used this many times to warm up or cool down the house when I was on my way home from work or the airport. On the down side, the wireless networking can be flaky. My older model would sometimes just not connect to my router for hours. New one seems better, but still sometimes not available. Despite that, I still enjoy the product and would buy again.

This is a great way to save! It has really helped me keep track of how many hours the heater is on and figure out the best way to reduce utility cost.
