This is the best thermostat that you can buy, save energy, save time

Before you install, get the wiring diagram online from nest that is specific to your system. I like how it learns what settings you want. It is great to be able to use the internet thru WiFi to document energy use. In addition, you can change the settings over the internet when you are not home. When you access nest on your smart phone or computer (from anywhere in the world), you climate system immediately responds by turning on the fan or increasing the set point for heating. There is full flexibility for heating and A/C set points simultaneously. A "geeks" dream.

Good except for the fact that it continues to lower my temperature when gone and NOT get it back to setting by the time I get home...

Once I got past the sticker shock of paying $250 for a thermostat, I absolutely love it!! Super easy to install, even for a novice. And once it was installed, the unit connected easily to my house's wi-fi. The Nest's "learning" ability is very cool. After about a week, it knew when I was most likely to be home, and set the temperature in the house accordingly. The free App (I use an iPhone) is incredibly convenient. When I'm leaving work on a particularly cold day, I can use the App to remotely turn on the furnace so the house is nice and toasty when I walk in the door. The only negative is the cost. The user manual says the Nest should save 20-30% in energy costs every year. I've only had it for a couple months, so it's hard to say if that's accurate. However, even if it only saves 10% per year, then it will pay for itself many many times over.

Purchased 2 to replace my existing thermostats. Only had it a couple months so with the change in season, I can't verify the cost savings yet. I love the interface and connectivity to my phone. It was the easiest thing to install as well.

The Nest is a great product. It's the best looking thermostat and the runner up isn't even close. The auto away is a great tool and actually works. My thermostat is not in my living or family rooms, but it still somehow knows when I'm home.

I recently purchased the Nest 2nd Gen Thermostat. I and the Nest are both in the learning process so I'll have to come back after I've had enough time to really see what's under the hood....but so far it is working wonderfully!
