I wish the best can be programmed with multiple accounts 2-4 at least but still works great when at work with my iPhone and when coming back from vacation

I had a professional installer who worked on it for 2 hours. It was finally determined after several calls to Nest and Trane that the thermostat is not compatible with my system. It blew a fuse. The installer replaced the fuse and re-installed my old thermostat. Best Buy refunded my purchase.

When I first heard of this device, a thermostat that costs $250 I thought how ridiculous it is to pay so much when you can get one for a fraction of the price. Now after buying this product I am remembering what I thought when I first heard the iPhone was going to cost $650.....how ridiculous to pay that much for a phone! Now look at how that device changed the world. I'm not saying this will change home climate control the way the iPhone changed phones, but I am saying it is so far ahead of what else is out there, that I am convinced that soon EVERY thermostat will be a "smart" one. I am not extremely handy, I can do the basics and follow directions and luckily that is all that is needed to install this product. I had to call customer support prior to buying it due to my heat pump having sensors. It turns out that I no longer need them since the NEST has them built in already! After a couple of holes drilled (which you don't have to do but I did because I'm like that) I popped on the base and attached the unit. About 5 minutes later I was hooked up to my wifi and installing the latest software. After just a few hours I noticed that my heat pump runs more often than it did before, which is good since my other heat source is gas. So far so good, however I am writing this after only about a days usage. I love the design with it's stainless steel ring. I love the simplicity of turning the ring to adjust settings and make changes. I thought if Apple made a thermostat, they'd make this one. Well it turns out the co creator the iPod is the CEO of the company. I am not surprised. They are very much like Apple. They care about the packaging, the ease of set up, easy of use and the design like no one else. Who else would include stickers to label your wiring or a screwdriver with four heads to install it? No one that's who! The devil is in the details. And they thought of everything. My only concern is in case of a power outage. I have read online that sometimes after a power failure human intervention is needed to turn the unit back on, even after the power comes back online. I hope this in not the case. I am not worried though, if it is a problem they can issue a firmware update to fix it. What an idea, a self learning, self fixing, thermostat! Thank you NEST. Now I want my whole house controlled by self learning automation.

This is a winner. by far the best tool to manage energy use in the house.

Everything about this is wonderful--the installation is easy, it's a snap to program (with an innovative interface that is very clever), and, of course, the promise of saving on my heating bills, while not reducing my comfort, is all too good to be true. Sadly, once I hooked it up, it wreaked havoc on my heating system's electronics. Nest gives you an "easy option" for contacting a professional to install it--but no one replied to me, leaving me in the lurch. I still don't understand what the problem is, but when the holiday craziness is over, I intend to return it. Too bad, because I really wanted to love this thing.
