My husband installed this in our home about 2 weeks ago. I really like it. Our old thermostat had all sorts of options on it, but this one is so simple. Just turn the dial to select the temp that you want, then walk away. If you want to select between heat or cooling, just press the nest and it will pop up with a dial of options - red for heat or blue for cool. Its also nice to be able to adjust the temp from your phone. You can use it to turn the heat up in the morning if you wake up and the room is chilly. They say it will pay for itself over a year or two with energy savings, so the investment of $250 should be a pretty savvy one.

so obviously for the price, the nest can be quite expensive when compared to a basis thermostat that you can get at home depot for $60. What helps to offset the cost is that my power company offers a rebate for using a nest. The thermostat has great programmable features and is wifi capable which makes it very convenient to turn on before you get home or off if you forget. It also has some great reporting features that lets you know your usage and how to optimally save energy and money.

This is truly a top of the line thermostat. The user interface is perfectly done, easy to understand, great graphics, control and best of all plenty of features that will save energy (and money)!

After doing extensive research on the Nest thermostat I decided to buy one despite some of the negative reviews I saw regarding installation and functionality. I am certainly glad I bought one! After getting my first $200 electric bill, I installed Nest back in December. I have a common single source heat/cool pump. Installation was a breeze and connecting to the wifi was seamless and worked immediately. After a few weeks Nest started learning my habits of temperature settings I usually use and when. I ended up turning off the Auto Away feature because my thermostat isn't in a normal traffic area but I can see this being a useful feature for sure. My first full electric bill after installing Nest for a full billing period with weather conditions roughly the same as the previous bill was $128. Nest saved me $72 immediately! Thats a pretty good ROI for just one bill.One of the cool features is the time-to-heat indicator that tells you exactly how long it will take for the house to reach your desired temperature. I love being able to control the thermostat from my iPad/iPhone in the rare event I need to alter the temperature while away. You can also use the mobile app to review your usage and view the energy reports. There is no way I'd buy any other thermostat after using Nest. The cost is definitely worth it as it will pay for itself in just a few months. The ease of installation alone is a huge selling point let alone the beautiful color display.

I own 2 Nest Thermostats and I love them. They were very easy to install and began saving us money right away. Thanks to the learning features we are able to waste less energy by only heating and cooling when we need to. Also thanks to my unpredictable schedule the auto-away feature turns off the a/c or heat when no one is at home. These units are well on the way to paying for themselves. An added bonus is being able to adjust the thermostat from my phone whether I'm lying in bed or 1,000 miles away. I cannot save enough good things about Nest products.

Unboxing I found that it has everything you could possibly need. Has all of the tools and screws, even has stickers so it’s easy to label the wires that came out of the old thermostat. Took me about 3 minutes to take down the old thermostat that I had. The nest has a built in level in the housing so I was sure to mount it properly. Took just a few seconds to get it on the wall and screwed down. There were 4 wires I had to plug in, it works the same way the back of a speaker would work, press in and hold the button and stick the wire in, spring from the button holds it in place. I put the nest faceplate / screen on and went to the breaker box and turned it on, first thing it did was update as soon as I got it on Wi-Fi. (took about 5 minutes) It’s pretty neat, when you get close to it to look at it, it will light up on its own because of a proximity sensor in the faceplate. The schedule works really well. You can set it to be a temperature at a certain time, or you can set it to come on at a certain time, or adjust it up and down on the fly.. The scheduler a red ball, drag it up and down to choose higher or lower temperature and left and right to choose time, couldn't be any simpler. Over all, the thing is awesome. Took me around 15 minutes to get it up on the wall and a few setting it up and it doing updates, so about a 30 minute job total.

This is indeed an excellent Thermostat. I had some confusion on wiring but they had tons of help documentation, so did not even need to call customer service. It was up and running in less than 30 minutes.

I bought the Nest after I saw the one my brother purchased. I seen the Nest on TV and the Internet and kind of wanted it, however after really experiencing how smooth this thermostat operates I had to get one! The interface is very easy to use. It reminds me of the iPod classic with the wheel! The NEST thermostat controls my heat pump much better than the Honeywell RTH7600D thermostat the NEST replaced. In the winter the Honeywell would run the heat pump then defrost it making a loud bang and then I heard a sound that reminded me of the air brakes of a transfer truck. This was annoying and was actually concerned it would prematurely burn out my heat pump. The honeywell also made a loud clicking noise from the thermostat every time it activated the heat pump. The NEST has solved both issues with all the racket the honeywell made. My heat pump runs much smoother now without defrosting the coils every time it runs. The NEST is a lot smarter and runs the heat pump much smoother. The Nest thermostat is absolutely quiet. No more loud clicking noises! I feel like the NEST thermostat took the ghetto out of my heat pump!!! Thanks NEST for pimping out my heat pump and making my house more comfortable!!! I love how it shows my energy usage on my iPhone and can control it from work or the gym before I return home. My electric bill has stayed the same, although Im sure my heatpump will last much longer... I highly recommend this amazing Product... :)

Awesome product that should save me money. I was burning up on the way home I had the house nice and cool. The same thing goes when I came home after a cool night at a baseball game the house was nice and toasty!!! I have been telling everyone about it. The only down side has been trying to reach the west coast branch with questions about corporate use at a new facility when it is built.

This is the iPhone's of thermostats. For too have thermostats been clunky and old fashioned. Nest refreshes everything and brings them into the 21st century. Very nice interface and easy to work with. Love the fact that you can control this while away from home in case you forget to adjust something. A little too expensive right now. It would have been nice to have a price point more around 150. Otherwise, great great device, and it will pay off in the long run.

I threw all conventional thinking away when I purchased the nest, and could not be happier. My first winter in Minnesota with the nest proved how poor my old set back thermostat was. In past had to run our gas fireplaces to take chill out. The nest kept the house so comfortable that we barely ran the fireplaces. . Nest learned our habits and efficiently adjusted. We are thrilled with the ability of the nest.

It was really easy to set up. I had it setup and working within about 30 minutes. Its been running just shy of 1 month and so far it's great. I have it set to auto away while I'm at work and it knows by my Android phone when I'm coming home to start pre-heating the house. We'll see what kind of savings I get out of it.

Nest is great. It can be controlled from your phone, tablet, or PC, and can be controlled from anywhere in the world.

Easy to use. I can change the temperature from anywhere. I don't have to mess with reprogramming the thermometer when I go out of town. I can track my energy usage. 5 min to install. So great I bought a second one!

I love my Nest. I would recommend this. It is a Must have addon for your home. Easy to install and easy to use

Yes, it is on the pricey side, but I've used programmable thermostats before unsuccessfully--mainly due to my erratic lifestyle. Nest learns what you like and adjusts itself accordingly, plus you can adjust it while you are away from home like if you want to warm (or cool) your home before you get there. It recaps your wattage savings and I can already see the drop! It will pay for itself in the long run and I don't have to remember to change any settings on my own!

Its hard to overstate how wonderful NEST is. It is easy to set up, easy to control, and really can change your life. Sorry for the hyperbole, but once you are free from having to think about the temperature, you're free to focus other things like how to save money on your HVAC bill. Nest REALLY does learn your habits and choices - it takes a little time- about 30 days for accurate results, but it is worth it. I have already saved 10 a month on my natural gas bill this winter... not big bucks, granted, but it adds up over time. And the ability to monitor it while away on my iPhone is critical as I have 6 animals in my house. Bitter Ohio winters can drop very steeply... if I'm on a trip when it happens I know I can adjust the temp for my furry friends and keep them comfortable while we're gone. Only ding I will give it is a lack of a geofencing option which the Lyric from competitor Honeywell has (or says they have... any Lyric owners gotten it to work yet?). At $199, its a great deal!

Unlike other smart thermostats, this is extremely easy to setup and use. It learns your lifestyle temperature and automatically adjusts itself. The app is also very simple to use. With the app, I can adjust, turn off and on the system from anywhere with my phone. Great product!! Highly recommend.

With no electrical background I was able to install the unit within 30 minutes. Customer service extremely helpful. Great purchase. Side note electric bill has dropped an average 20 dollars since installing the unit.
