    GREAT Product

I have a 2 story house and decided to get a Nest 2.0. It is well built and the software control and even at the thermostat is easy to use. You will wake up everyday figuring out how much electricity you used the day before. It just keeps you involved how you use your heating and AC. with the works with nest program there are now a lot of options with nest talking to other devices too.

My whole family loves this thermostat. It is still learning our patterns and such but does well in recognizing when we are home and turning the heat up. The only downside was I had a little difficulty doing the install, my old thermostat had been wired incorrectly but worked, so when i moved my wires over to the same connections on the Nest, it didn't work. So as a note to other installers, While most thermostats will work with a wire to the W2 and not the W1 connector, the Nest will not, so if you only have one it needs to go to the W1 and not the W2. The included directions were a little lacking, but the online directions and help were phenomenal.Overall we love it and would certainly recommend it to others

The Nest is VERY easy to install. Just make sure you use their compatibility checker before purchasing. I was up and running in about 20 minutes. The unit is still "learning" but it is very easy to get set up. Just answer a few questions and you're up and running! Finally, it looks great on the wall!

I like the fact that we can adjust the temperature at any time and from anywhere via our mobile app. The only problem I have with Nest is the price and the installation. It is VERY expensive and so are the Nest smoke/carbon monoxide units.

This is a great product if it is compatible with your systems. However, you might end up spending a fair amount of time troubleshooting when issues arise. When I called the top rated Angie's List furnace technician in my area and described an issue I was having the first thing they told me to do was to return my Nest Thermostat. The issue I had ended up being with my furnace and not the Nest, however it complicated things with the technicians.

    Nest Thermostat

I've owned my Nest Thermostat for almost 2 years and I am confident in saying that at $250, it has paid for itself at the very least 1 time, but very close to 2 times. Pros: - easy to setup. -- videos online are very clear and defined as well as the instructions included with it are also very clear and in color (yes, it makes a difference) - wifi enabled to allow me to control when not at home or even when I am home and too lazy to get off the couch :) - "Learning" in regards to your habits and via the motion sensor to automatically adjust temperature as well as pre-heat or pre-cool based on your personal settings or when it knows your going to be home. Cons: - the "Learning" feature sometimes in fact does work depending on where it is located in your home. For me, my thermostat was in the dining room whih is NOT a high traffic area for my house. That said, I reqired all connections to mthe bedroom hallway for better learning, so this is a pro and a con really.... - Battery does not come charged enough for initial install. That said, I put it on my computer via a usb cable and left it for about an hour and afterwards it installed with no issues. All in all, these minor issues were just that, MINOR. With ANY electronic item you purchase, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a LEMON out of the box. If that is the case, just utilize your retailers return/exchange policy and have it switched out for a brand new one. You should also MAKE 200% sure that your system is in fact compatible with the Nest. In regards to their customer service, I have had absolutely NO issue calling them on the phone directly to have any issues worked out and to have my original unit replaced. yes it did take about 90 mins on the phone working thru many trials and errors to make sure the unit I had was in fact defective. I was sent a brand new unit within 3 days and at that point I just put my old thermostat back on the wall. Once the new unit came in, I redid the install and all was well at that point. If you are having issues with your nest, and proceed to "freeze" for a weekend or a few days then you need to NOT destroy or throw away your old thermostat and put it back up... It's that simple. Again, I have no complaints about the Nest Thermostat and will and have recommended it to all my friends and family. Numerous friends and family have purchased one themselves and as such have noticed that they themselves have already started to save money.

The nest thermostat works great. install is very simple and only took 15 min. after about a week it starts learning your habits and will automatically turn the temp down or up when you are away. i would highly recommend installing the app for it as well and syncing it to your device as it gives you many different options such as changing settings remotely and seeing a energy usage history. also if the price seems too high you can always check Nest's website before you buy and see if they have energy partners that will give you rebate. i have also heard of a possible tax refund on this item as well but i haven't looked into it yet.

I've wanted one of these for several months and my lovely bride surprised me with it for Father's Day. I installed it in about 30 minutes. The included screw driver, wire labels and built-in bubble level make the install a breeze. The initial set-up could not have been easier. The on-screen instructions walk you through step by step and when I created a nest account on my iPhone the thermostat automatically linked itself to the app.

Installation and setup of my 2 Nest thermostats was easy. One thing that got me was the O/B switch for my Heat Pump - initially chose the wrong setting so my Heat Pump was blowing cold air instead of heat for the first two days. Great dashboard online keeps me informed of energy usage. Auto-away features are great for turning off heat/AC on my upstairs unit during the day but automatically turning it back on when I am home.

My husband and I purchased this for our previous home and have loved every bit of it. We also bought the accompanying combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. We feel like our home is better protected and we have more control over the temperature. We were able to control the thermostat while we were 600 miles away on vacation when unexpected weather hit which was incredibly helpful. We are building a home with an upstairs bonus room and purchased this second unit for the dual zone. We wouldn't have it any other way.

this is great product, i was looking for wifi base thermostat, a bit skeptical about it because of some negative reviews, researched a bit and decided to give it try, It took me 15 minutes to install and setup, i have wires labelled already so it did not take time to label wire, so far so good after couple of weeks of use, i experienced some wifi drops, the solution is to set the thermostat with static IP address and issue is gone, i am not using C wire, i am keeping an eye on the battery level when i am not using AC, so far it is holding up very good. It is very easy to setup, i have only used it with air conditioning, i hope it works flawlessly with heat also. if you want good stylish wifi based thermostat this is it. I would recommend this product

I love that there's an app to control the nest I can access from virtually anywhere, especially when I'm already cozy in bed. I love that it automatically updates the system. Auto schedule sometimes needs adjustment but over all a great product. Pricey though.

While it is still early, I am very impressed with the abilities of this thermostat. I installed in a week ago, and absolutely love the ability to control the device via my iPhone from anywhere. You are also able to see usage statistics and patterns via the app or on the web. My device is still "learning" as it has not been quite a week, but based on the technology behind the device, it is almost guaranteed to save money on the energy bill. I am most excited about the "airwave" technology that will run the blower over a cold A/C coil in the summer after the compressor shuts off. That principle makes so much sense and can be key to 20-30% energy savings in the summer, although time will tell. Overall, I am excited about what I will end up saving with the thermostat in the end. While it was $250 up front, once you add in the "cool" factor, the apps, and the potential energy savings, it is almost sure to pay me back in the end. One other note... I would strongly recommend having a "C" common wire to power this device in your thermostat wiring. One can be added if needed. Without it, the device only can charge its internal battery when it runs. If it runs less (and face it - that is the goal), then the battery could drain, causing some functionality to drop out. I believe there is some programming that will kick the fan on a furnace on to get the juice flowing to charge the battery, but that seems to be a waste of energy. Install the "C" wire and you will have a much easier go of it and it will be much more reliable.

I did A LOT of research about the Nest. After reading the feedback, I was a little worried with the setup and performance. I read about the right number of wires, dropping WiFi, etc. Don't worry just buy the Nest. Had it hooked up in about 30 minutes (four wires#. Don't pay attention to those posting which say you need a "C" wire. Not so. My home has both HEAT and A/C. Did have to call their help line #which was very quick and the guy knew his stuff# for dropping WiFi. Found out that the unit has to be fully charged before WiFi is always connected. Make sure you wait about a day or so #or the volts read 3.8 or higher) before you call for help. Love that you can access it from afar, get feature while you are gone!

This thermostat should come standard with every home. If you do not have one, GET ONE. I now also have the Nest Protect and a wifi set up for my garage and both sync with the Next. Love its versatility.
