Have had this almost a year now. Very helpful receiving monthly energy reports. New software update shows that in not only learns my home habits, but will be future proof for a long time.

At first tricky to install in our newly built house (heat-pump wiring), but ultimately amazing once installed. It has dramatically decreased AC usage and electricity bill.

PROGRAM STARTED TO SET UP THE NEXT DAY FOR SCED. IT USED THE TEMPERATURE OF 80 WHEN I ORIGINALLY TESTED YOUR UNIT. IT SHOULD WAIT A WEEK BEFORE IT STARTS TO SCED MY THERMOSTAT. I DID NOT KNOW THAT YOUR PROGRAM STARTS TO SCED UNTIL NEXT DAY I SAW THE HIGH TEMPERATURE! THIS SHOULD NOT BE AUTOMATIC . I TURNED OFF THE SCED OF THERMOSTAT FOR THAT REASON. I HAD A ISSUE WITH THE WORDING OF MY FAN. I THOUGHT THAT THE FAN SHOULD RUN BUT YOUR TECH SUPPORT SAID THAT THE FAN SHOULD RUN ONLY WHEN FURNACE IS CALLING FOR HEAT. THE FURNACE KEPT RUNNING, I THOUGHT YOUR THERMOSTAT IS BROKEN. FOUND THAT MY FURNACE KEEPS RUNNING BECAUSE THE HIGH TECH SENSOR ON THE BOARD DID NOT GET ENOUGH AIR TO FURNACE SO I CONVERTED MY FILTER ACCESS COVER TO A ADDITIONAL AIR TO THE FURNACE RETURN AND CLEARED THE FAULT ON MY FURNACE CONTROL. I DID INSTALL THE HUMIDIFIER ON MY FURNACE. I DID NOT LIKE YOUR HUMIDITY INDICATOR THAT DOES NOT TELL HOW MUCH OF HUMIDITY YOUR UNIT IS SET FOR IT WOULD BE MORE ACCURATE IF IT IS SET AT HUMIDITY % NOT BY A MOISTURE INDICATOR. I DO HAVE A ADDITIONAL HUMIDITY CONTROL SET BY A HUMIDISTAT IN THE RETURN AIR PLENUM. YOUR HUMIDITY CONTROL RUNS AS A BACKUP. MY NEST SEEMS TO BE 3 DEGREES OFF BY YOUR INDICATOR. HOW CAN I ADJUST YOUR TEMPERATURE SETTING SO IT READS CORRECTY. I LIKE THE NEW NEST SMOKE DETECTOR THAT TELLS YOUR THERMOSTAT TO SHUT OFF FURNACE DURING A FIRE. YOUR ENERGY USE SHOULD SHOW FOR THE USE DURING THE DAY NOT JUST PAST 24 HOURS. I USE YOUR APP ON MY SMART PHONE TO CHECK ON MY HEAT A NICE FEATURE!

The actual product itself is very good, easy to use, easy to install and works very well. What needs to be improved is the app and being able to operate the product from your computer and smart phone. I was standing right next to the unit and tried to turn in on and off from my phone and computer and it would not work. This is a great feature and why I purchased the unit but is not dependable. I would recommend it looks good and works well in the house but from a remote connection tool I would I'm told there are less expensive units and do a better job.

Fantastic product. Bought mine at black friday so I got a new $50 discount. I use it almost everyday and love having access from anywhere with my phone.

Our house has two heat pumps. I bought a nest thermostat for one of the units. The install was fairly easy and I now have a lot more control over the unit. I haven't used it long enough to see how my power bill may be reduced. But it only makes sense that I'm starting to save money - instead of the heat pump running nearly all the time, I now can program it and control it remotely from my smart phone. I just bought a 2nd nest for my second heat pump - didn't make sense to have programming and remote control for one heat pump and not the other one. I adjust the temp while I'm away to save money. But if I have to return home unexpectedly, I can turn on the AC remotely before I leave work so it's comfortable before I get home.

The Nest Thermostat is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to install, setup and configure. After a week or so it programmed itself and only needed minor manual adjustment afterwards. Everyone in the home can easily make adjustments if necessary and I can monitor settings when away from home. All in all a great and solid product that is extremely easy to use. Highly recommended.

I went thru three programmable thermostats before trying the Nest (didn't want to shell out that much money). Should have done that to start with. All three others had one issue or another. The Nest is super smart and works like a dream. The tech support I needed to finish getting the Nest online was superb.

Love it! Gives updates on how long you've used your heat each month, app interactive and a great investment.

Yesterday on black Friday I bought this smart sophisticated device for 199 USD and I replaced my old one stupid. So far I cannot complain anything. My life will be now more easier:) I am very happy that I decided to choose Nest.

Overall I would recommend the Nest especially if you want to begin automating your lifestyle but i wouldn't purchase it if you think it's going to save you a substantial amount on your energy bill. Pros: - Well designed - nice packaging and very solid materials - Easy installation and setup - Simple to use - Having control from your smartphone is very useful Cons: - Cost, cost, cost. It's nice to have but spending that much for a thermostat seems a bit over the top. If you already had a schedule on your previous thermostat it wont save you much, if anything at all. - The scheduling interface is a bit confusing and tedious. The "learning" portion is a bit of a marketing ploy....not really worth it if you know your schedule and just set it through the web interface. - if you had a previous thermostat you will probably need the wall plate. Problem is that the one they include is white and looks very bizarre on your wall (unless it is completely white). Fortunately i found a glossy black wall plate on amazon that matches it perfectly. just search for nest wall plate

This thing is ridiculously awesome. Besides being aestedically pleasing, this was one of the easiest things I've every installed electrical wise. Haven't had it long enough to see an energy bill, but so far this thing is really neat.

This is one of my favorite purchases in years. My Nest Learning Thermostat paid for itself the first winter I had it, and has been saving money for me since. It was extremely easy to install, and has never given me trouble.

I love that if I wake up in the middle of the night and I feel warm, that I do not have to get out of bed to turn it down! With this feature (iphone app) I can also make sure it's not running while I am at work.

The smart features of this thermostat are nice but after a few weeks of allowing it to "teach" itself, I just wasn't pleased. House just never felt warm enough so I went to my old programmable thermostat.

it was a good purchase and the price was right during the holidays

I currently own 4 Nest Thermostats gen. 2 that are connected to 4 brand new American Standard Hvac units. Two Hvac units have been unusable due to faulty nest bases. Nest is aware these bases can be a major problem for some customers. So the fix is, send out the new and improved base that works. Why not send those out ahead of time before I am left in the dead of the winter with no heat in my child’s room (blaming my local Hvac guys for my loss of heat). Or in the summer time and the AC will not turn on (blaming my local Hvac guys for my loss of AC). After I installed the second base, I asked Nest to go ahead and send me two more new bases for my other two thermostats that have not been upgraded yet. Nest has refused my request. This along with the nine Nest Protects I own (I have had problems with too with no real solution from Nest) have been more hours of phone calls, troubleshooting and stress that Nest as a company could fix very easily. A company who wants to sell the most expensive Thermostats and Smoked detectors should really set the bar a little higher than this.

like I said it was super easy to install and it works great. The house seems to have a more consistent temperature throughout the day.

Overall installation of the unit was pretty straight-forward. They even supply a screwdriver and all necessary hardware to get you up and running. Even if you're not very tech savvy, it's pretty simple to get it setup. The only problem I had was getting it connected to WiFi. After a call to tech support, and about 5 minutes on the phone, we had reset the unit to factory defaults, ran through the initial setup again, and it was working as expected. Pretty happy with this product, especially as I replaced a Honeywell wifi thermostat that was much more complicated to use.

6 months old, now dead. Thankfully it wasn't the dead of winter here in Wisconsin. After three calls and holds up to 45 minutes, the customer service rep agreed to replace the base part only. Sent it via 2 day Fed Ex. After a week and not having received it, I called back today. No record of any conversations. The woman said they'd send it out again, and at least this time sent me an itemized report. We have had company from Seattle who are not used to the heat and humidity here, and with no air conditioning it is quite unpleasant. Thanks a lot, Nest.
