I have 5 of the Gen 1 Google Minis. They are very good. However, the Gen 2 Mini sounds so much better. Deeper bass, clearer mid-range. The setup remains simple as before using the Google Home App. I would not change out Gen 1 for this but if you are starting new - go with Gen 2

I need a second one for the other side of the house! The speaker for music is clean and the connected apps I have with it work perfectly!

Pros: easy setup, integration with multiple family members. Sound quality is descent and can be improved greatly by syncing to another speaker, turning it into a smart speaker.

This is head and heals better than the first one and better than Alexa too.... you jus need to know what to do with it ....its even better when you get it for $25 at BB with free shipping can't beat it trust me I tried could not find it cheaper anywhere...BEST BUY ROCK's ...

We love the Nest Mini 2nd gen. We have 7 in our apartment. Generally when they go on sale we've been ordering additional ones. Also plan on giving them as gifts. We integrate with Philips Hue, and other home automation devices. plus casting with different audio players is fantastic as it eliminates any latency you experience with bluetooth. Arguing with the Google assistant can be fun too. We gave her a British accent. One of the deciding factors for choosing it over the other popular brand, is that it has access to the Google search engine data base, which "Mr.IFlyAPhallusIntoSpaceToEatSkittles's" speaker does not. Am now considering upgrading to the WiFi Mesh version to boost the wifi coverage in our apartment. If there was any criticism it would be sometimes we wish it was a little louder.

Love how this has allowed me to automate more thing around my house. This is my 2nd Nest Mini. Easy to setup and very easy to use. So many different apps you can connect to Google Home. I can even turn on my Xbox with this.

I’ve been using this everyday and it’s great. I have it running my lights, the entirety of my entertainment setup (tv, receiver, Xbox One X with the use of a Logitech Harmony Hub), and play music via Bluetooth on the receiver. Setup was a breeze and after all these months I’ve only got a complaint and it’s about the app. I’m finding things kind of hard to figure out unless I Google how to do it lol but once I’ve got it set it’s good to go. I’ve setup numerous routines like when it should turn on lights, capture screenshots and video on the Xbox, launch specific apps and games on the Xbox and turn on specific Activities for my entertainment setup. All has been great. If you’re not heavily invested in an Amazon setup like having a Firestick I’d recommend this for sure. I only mention this because integration will be easier with an Alexa if you’re setup for Amazon things. I hope I helped you decide.

Being able to ask it to play music or tell you the weather without having to pick up your phone is really nice. The volums is also pretty good.

Sits in my living room. Connects seemlesly with GoogleHome and the rest of the smart home and i can control everything from what music is playing to what im watching on the tv. For its small size the sound is clear, and and rich. The thing that really surprised me was the sensitivity of the mic! The speaker can hear a command through its own sound full blast, a bunch of kids, tv on, and dogs barking all at the same time! Well done little speaker!

Great addition to my Google products. It's small enough not to look awkward but packs enough sound to make a noticeable difference. Maximum volume is not overly high but just enough not to be earsplitting. Can pick up voice commands from the next room over as well.

By far the best whole home speaker system. The ease of setup and ability to easily control multiple speakers in a single app is very useful. The sound quality is excellent and the volume is very good as well. You can easily build speaker groups to play different things in different areas of the house or ensure all speakers are playing the same thing. Very useful on cleaning days or times when you are moving throughout your house. Highly recommend Nest over Echo if you are looking for a whole home sound/assistant solution.

This product is a second generation google nest product. This version works smoothly with all my google smart products. It uses Smart Things to connect to your smart assistant. The setup was easy and connected after a few prompts

I love my new mini. Works great for the bedroom to control all our smart devices. Good sound for such a small device. I’ll be getting a couple more for different areas of the house. For the price you can’t beat it.

I've got both Nest and Echo devices along with various other smart home products. Each is better at certain things. The Nest Mini seems to do a little better with basic info queries. Sound is decent for such a small, inexpensive device. Great for kids or anyone just getting into practical smart home use.

Once you learn how to operate it using the app is perfect. I don't recommend traveling through multiple WiFis with it because it seems to get confused. Overall my 12y/o loves it and it is it really clear music for is size.

Good price and works like you would expect. I have one in almost all the rooms so it's easy to broadcast when needing to get someone's attention. It also has all the other functions if your setup permits such as lights etc.

We use the mini nest for our children. With it they can call important contacts (mom, dad, etc). They also use it to listen to music and set their own alarma for school. The best feature is the timer (although simple) it helps them take turns when playing video games, watching tv, playing, reading or working on spanish. They set their timers and have become more independent. Another great use is the vast info it has. The kids ask it questions about animals (they have it set to give them daily animal facts), jokes, science and math.
