There are several reasons that can affect the performance and connectivity of your Nest Mini and its Google Assistant. Your network may be working correctly if your other devices are working without any issues, but let’s make sure that this issue is not caused by a weak or spotty connection and see if your Nest Mini experience will improve:
- Check for possible interference. Appliances like your microwave oven, refrigerator or even your neighbors Wi-Fi network may cause interference with your Nest speaker.
- Check for possible congestion. Removing some of your connected devices may help relieve some bandwidth space.
- Ensure that your Nest speaker is in line of sight with your Wi-Fi router to get the best signal strength and Wi-Fi coverage.
- Restart your router, your modem and your Nest Mini.
Also, If you’re Google Assistant activating on its own, you can control how often Google Assistant responds to voice commands with the “Hey Google” sensitivity setting. This setting lets you choose how sensitive devices are to phrases that sound like “Hey Google” or “Ok Google.” Google Assistant might activate when you don't say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” when it detects something that sounds similar. And sometimes might not activate when you say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” particularly in a noisy environment. Please see the steps below:
- Open your Google Home app
- Select your Nest Mini
- At the top right, tap the Settings (Gear) icon
- Then tap Audio.
- Then tap "Hey Google" sensitivity and adjust the slider to make your Nest Mini more responsive to the hotword.

Now I’m addicted. It is so nice to be able to walk around and ask google questions or to play music or to turn the lights on. We got a smart thermostat too so I can be under the covers upstairs and ask google to turn the temp up without having to get up.

The Nest Mini is great when it works but it unfortunately keeps disconnecting from my WiFi, unlinks my home, resets itself, and needs to be manually reset fairly often. My previous mini, in the same location, wasn’t like this and isn’t like this in it’s current location. I can only hopefully assume that it’s my specific device that is defected and not the whole Nest mini line.

-When asking the device a query it will reply asking the user to sign in via the app.
-The app will give a notification in the feed that the device was unlinked from the users account.

Got this one for our deck to listen to while we swim in our pool. As always the sound is very clear. Love that we can hook our Apple Music and our serious and run it through the speaker.

I can turn my lights on and off, set timers, alarms, listen to music, play ambient noise when I sleep, add items to my shopping list and more. Is it listening to me ALL OF THE TIME? Maybe, but I imagine my smart phone is too.

The features are expanding as google develops them. The Nest Mini works with my Sony TV and it works very well for hands free navigation.
