I selected the Charcoal so it would be discreet: blend in with the surroundings. To my dismay, it was provided with a white cord that sticks out like a sore thumb. Why would Nest supply a white cord with a Charcoal device? A black cord, yes. Amazon Alexa gets this. I had to hide it below my bar where it isn't visible at all. Fortunately I had power there. Step up your game Nest, this is Consumer Marketing 101.

In hindsight, I probably would have done one of the TVs that came with the Echo instead. That said, it was super easy to sync to my google stuff

I also learned the long way, that tapping the middle, turns the speaker on or off. When I do give Google a verbal order to stop playing the speaker, it doesn't always obey my commands, and I have to yell really loud so the Mini Google can hear me.

Google Assistant might activate even if you don't say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” when it detects something that sounds similar. Also, it might not activate when you say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” particularly in a noisy environment. Retraining your Nest speaker to better recognize your voice, and adjusting the Hotword sensitivity may be helpful. You may follow the steps on these help articles:

Besides controlling the volume by voice or by touch, you can also adjust the volume of the Google Assistant, your media, timers, and alarms using the Google Home app. Here’s how:
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your display.
- Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
- To adjust the volume, tap Media .

When I use it with my Pandora account it does not sound great, but I can have a nice music environment. Does control on command the lights at home.
