I have to give the command twice for it to work.

I have to literally say "hey google..." twice before it performs the command. too much work, but it was free so I'm not going to complain to much.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Sorry to hear that you're experiencing connection issues with your Nest Mini.
We recommend performing some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. You can restart the Nest Mini and Wi-Fi router to refresh the connection. Unplug the power cable from Nest Mini and Wi-Fi router and leave them unplugged for at least a minute. Then, reconnect the devices and wait for them to boot up.
If rebooting the Nest Mini and Wi-Fi router doesn't fix the issue, we suggest performing a factory reset on the Nest Mini device then set up.

Randomly Turns On

We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
Video recording can be triggered by motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery). These can also be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.

The first generation worked great for a couple years, now the microphone is having glitches... But for $25 I decided to replace it

You can try to teach your Nest Mini to better recognize your voice again and adjusting the Hotword sensitivity may sort the issue. You may follow the step by step instructions on these help articles:
