I have several 1st gen minis and was already impressed with them. I got the 2nd gen for free as a package deal with I ordered my Google Nest Learning Thermostat. I have to say that the sound from the 2nd gen minis sounds much better than the 1st gen. Mind you, it will not sound like you have a home theater in a puck but the overall sound, when compared to the 1st gen mini, is an improvement. I have this set up in my home office which is on the 2nd floor. Our household is heavily invested in the Google Home ecosystem. So, being able to use this to control devices throughout the house, play music, set alarms, make calls, and also have it work something like an intercom is super convenient!

This was easy to set up and configure. It responds quickly and sound is very clear. I used it to play music, and access weather and my calendar. It is nice to have around to access many things on the internet.

I received this free with the purchase of a TV and didn't think much of it at first, but its extremely easy to use with voice or by casting music from your phone and gets pretty loud for how small the speaker is.

Works great, it understand my accent lol, It was easy to setup with my google account and have it control my other items like TV and light. I had the 1st gen, this one sounds much better.

This small, but mighty, speaker is fantastic. I have 6 of them throughout my home. Can't bet the sound, for the price!

My whole family absolutely swears by these. They are compact and incredibly intelligent. The sound is impressive for how small they are and you literally can't beat the price.

Really enjoy the nest mini. Probably does a lot more than I use it for but I am totally satisfied. Just the ability to listen to music of all types and have it turn off when you want is just very classy.

After a few years of trying to use my iPad to control my smart home devices (which proved unreliable), I finally broke down and picked-up a Google Nest Mini while it was on sale for the holidays -- and I'm very glad I did. All I use it for is to control my smart home devices. The first unit I purchased constantly disconnected from my Google Account, which was frustrating. However, after a few months, the device finally became a brick entirely and Google support was quick to send me a new one. Since the replacement, it's worked flawlessly. For someone who only uses this device essentially as a voice-activated remote control for switches, it's perfect for what I need. The sound quality is fine the few times I've used it to stream from Pandora (when the alternative would have been my iPad or iPhone speaker), but I cannot attest to the speaker quality for people really intending to use it for that function.

I am a huge fan of smart home technology and the Nest Mini doesn't disappoint. It allows me to get a great deal done with just my voice. Is like an extension of myself, and as such can be quite useful. I am constantly interacting with it and using it for work, personal life, and just the basic needs of the day. It helps me learn, access information, communicate, and entertains me throughout the day. That is just the basics. But when I couple it with my smart home products it makes things even simpler and easier.

Exactly what I wanted. I like my music a little loud. My phone wasn't loud enough so purchased the Nest Mini. It was easy to connect to my Samsung and now I can have my music louder!

You're only limited by your imagination (and Matter/Google's ecosystem, and software library maintenance, and the tech economy's hardware offerings). Anyways, the point is: yes, voice activation and automation for various things does improve your quality of life if you set it up properly. For me the biggest three things have been: Google Newsstand, Spotify, and voice-activated lights, and setting reminders for the next morning has been nice, too. That said, you can get all that with your phone using the Google Home and Google Assistant apps, so what's the big deal? Not fussing with your phone or keeping it in your pocket all the time, and having a nice enough speaker with no bass channel so you don't annoy your neighboring apartment or roommate. So, who should buy it? Anyone with a small amount of disposable income and 600+ sq ft residential area, and anyone with a smaller residential area who also wants an okay speaker but doesn't really know what to get and doesn't want to do a lot of research or pay more for a JBL. Bad things! Doesn't hold a conversation even with Gemini, doesn't work with Audible because of Amazon being a doof about Echo/Alexa, and you will have to train yourself to make use of it and commit to giving it a task once a day at first just so that you don't forget about it for months or longer.

We can't recommend this product more, we use it to play music, cooking tips, turn on lights, etc. It is a very easy to set up and the speaker on it is great.

This is a great product. A great quality little speaker that really fills up the room. I prefer the Google suite of products to Alexa. Great for reminders, for music, for timers, etc. It can be a little tricky to set up with the network, especially if you have multiple Nest Minis. For example, one may take over the other when you're playing music (e.g., Spotify) and that can be annoying. Sometimes I'm in my truck and all of a sudden the music will change because my kids are using the Nest Mini at home and it overtakes my phone! So I'll change the music and then I'll take over the minis at home! These sorts of interactions are common and highly annoying.

Purchased two and both work great. I'm not sure if it's the software or hardware, but compared with the Alexa system that we used before, Google has a lag/ delay of a few seconds when responding to voice commands that is definitely noticeable. The echo dots that we used before switching to Google seemed to have a lot of conflicts with the router that we were using, resulting in having to constantly restart the router to reconnect everything (usually at night when telling Alexa it was time for bed, and the last thing you want to be doing is messing with the router just so that you can turn the lights off). Anyway - we use the nest minis with the Google Nest router system, and aside from the delayed response time, everything is working nicely. I like how they recognize voices and customize commands accordingly based on how you set up settings and routines in the app. Spotify integrates really well and I'm super happy we switched.

For the price it's great. Easy set up too. Don't use the speaker so can't comment on that.
