For an average user, there's not much difference from this and the 1st Generation Google Mini that I notice.

Ridiculous, convoluted set-up procedure - even after SIGNIFICANT time invested in the set-up - many “functions” stopped working. The Google device caused so much trouble, it was inconsistent in its functioning, during the long set-up it had me make too many decisions that I didn’t know what I was deciding for, and it required voice training & set-up on each device. Purchased an Echo dot and completely satisfied with set-up and functionality. The Echo Dot set-up took about an hour and a half but went fairly smooth. I did need to create an Amazon account but it did not require that I put a credit card in. The Alexa app does grab any contacts in the cell and although it gives the appearance that you can choose for it not to grab contacts it is very difficult to stop it from grabbing the contacts and once the contacts are in the app you cannot delete them - you can delete contacts you manually enter within the app. The set-up on one Echo Dot did transfer to the other Echo dot - time saver. No voice training was requested and others visiting seems to have complete access. The reminders work well it repeats twice and then stops. It reminds you exactly as you asked it to. My brother had the echo dot say the rosary with my father.

I use this speaker in the smaller rooms in my house. Great in the kitchen when wanting to listen to music when cooking also great in the bathroom when you want to listen to something when you are in the shower.

I love it and gave it to my little brother. He uses it a lot now and he has no complaint.

i needed a small assistant for my house. and it works flawlessly i like how you can revert the controls based on how you mount it. they sell a holder for your plug but it has a slot to put a screw behind it

Plug it in, follow instructions on internet and you’re ready to start streaming your favorite music.

I purchased the Nest Mini so I could hear my Nest Doorbell ring in my Pub. I selected the Charcoal so it would be discreet: blend in with the surroundings. To my dismay, it was provided with a white cord that sticks out like a sore thumb. Why would Nest supply a white cord with a Charcoal device? A black cord, yes. Amazon Alexa gets this. I had to hide it below my bar where it isn't visible at all. Fortunately I had power there. Step up your game Nest, this is Consumer Marketing 101.

This product has become an awesome addition to my home entertainment!

Sound quality isn't the best but it's convenience out weighs it's short comings. I only wish i could change the word used to trigger it.
