The app works perfectly, I can create temporary codes for my guests and/or open the door for them if I not at home.

There are three basic ways to lock and unlock your door: using the Nest app on your phone, using the keypad installed on your door, and using the traditional thumb turn inside your home. When you use the Nest app to unlock your door, you’ll need to tap and hold the large lock button until the blue ring disappears and it says Unlocking, which takes about one second. Then it will say Last unlocked by you.

Great lock with one major requirement

The installation was a little challenging because the dead bolt has to easily and freely be able to move, which wasn't the case for my door. In my case, the weather stripping actually pushes the door out just enough for it to not be able to fully lock by itself. I was able to get it to align just enough once, but then the weather changed and it got out of alignment again! Besides this once issue, the notifications and status have been very useful and exactly what I was looking for.

It kind of defeats the purpose of having a smart deadbolt if you still need a key to unlock the knob. Of course you could always have the knob unlocked and just use the deadbolt, but the idea seems strange to me (having an extra security feature you wouldn't use). Also, in following the instructions, the lock was not connecting to my phone. Everything was connected to the wifi. The egg (or whatever it's called) was working. It was connecting to my phone, but the lock itself wasn't. Not sure what the issue was. I returned it, but its probably worth having for someone else.

Get notifications on your phone when it is locked or unlocked and even instantaneously unlock it from wherever you are. Super happy with it.

Operating the unit is extremely user friendly and takes no time at all to acclimate to utilization on a daily basis.

Very dependable. It’s a much better lock than the Ring lock. The Ring lock started acting strange after a month. Then start eating up batteries. The nest lock is 100 times better.
