The only complaint I have is that if there is any degree of tension between the deadbolt itself and the side of the doorframe it will say it can’t lock. Typically this isn’t an issue, but every now and then it happens, usually at the change of the seasons. Sure that’s an install issue with the door, but my real issue is with the software. The lock will deploy the deadbolt enough that the lock is “locked” but it won’t extend the full way so it says “not locked”. If you’re present at the door you can type your code in and gain access, if you are doing it through the app you can’t do anything, it’s just stuck in limbo. This is frustrating as I often find myself in situations where I’m letting people in remotely. Other than that, it’s great.

Easy to install, and the app functionality is perfect. The only reason it doesn’t get five stars is lack of a key option for times when the batteries die, or because sometimes a key is just faster.

There are three basic ways to lock and unlock your door: using the Nest app on your phone, using the keypad installed on your door, and using the traditional thumb turn inside your home. When you use the Nest app to unlock your door, you’ll need to tap and hold the large lock button until the blue ring disappears and it says Unlocking, which takes about one second. Then it will say Last unlocked by you.

It is also helpful to be able to unlock it from your phone if a family member/friend shows up and you haven't arrived yet.

It provides a lot of freedom and security. Definitely have had some issues with installation, but that’s more about the door being hung improperly.
