No proximity or Bluetooth unlocking capability reduces its usefulness, although I understand the security concern there. The locking mechanism is extremely finicky and if your hardware was cut at all imperfect it will stick when trying to open and close. This is a problem for some doors. I had to completely remove the strikeplate from my door to get it to slide easily enough to avoid this.

During installation, the Nest × Yale Lock requires precise alignment to connect the parts to your door and each other. The steps are relatively straightforward, but you must pay attention to the details. The Nest × Yale Lock uses Bluetooth, but only when you’re installing and setting it up. It doesn’t use Bluetooth for day-to-day functions. For security reasons, you won’t be able to unlock your door or change any settings over Bluetooth.

We appreciate sharing your feedback and we'd like to apologize for the connectivity issue.
Disconnection could be happening because of the interference between your Nest Connect and Wi-Fi router or the distance between the lock, Nest Connect, and the router. You need to make sure Nest Connect is within range (within 50ft direct line of sight) of the Nest x Yale Lock and your Wi-Fi router. This range could be shorter if there are potential sources of interference, either physical interference (thickness and type of walls, mirrors, windows, etc.) and competing signals (other wireless devices, baby monitors, microwaves, etc.). You might want to restart the devices (Nest x Yale Lock, Nest Connect, Wi-Fi router) and move them closer if you need to establish a stable connection.
