Won’t stay connected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lock is just as easy to install as any other deadbolt. The instructions were very clear and thorough. I have followed the instructions on troubleshooting multiple times, including the factory reset and this device will not stay connected to the internet. So what’s the point. I even have google Wifi so it should all work together. I would not recommend this product with to anyone with the headaches this has cause on day one. Not worth the price.

Keypad NEVER works
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t know if I have a defective item from a bad batch of these or what, but I know one thing I’m taking it off my door & returning it. I’m trying to run an Airbnb and this lock is giving me THEE MOST problems. It will work for me just fine, as soon as someone tries to check-in it suddenly doesn’t work. This has happened to SEVERAL of my guests. I even had to give one guy my full email & login credentials for the nest app in order for his trip to go smoothly. Yes I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps…it’s not batteries, not wifi, not pinched cable etc etc. the keypad will work at noon and won’t work a few hours later & it has REPEATEDLY happened while someone was trying to check into my place. I always think it’s user error when people call me saying keypad isn’t working, then I go by and see it indeed isn’t working. Then you have to take the thing halfway apart to reset it & then u have to reconnect everything after reset. It’s a pain I love the lock but I gotta get rid of it, it’s messing up my business.

Posted .Hi Bryson, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. It's unfortunate to hear that you are experiencing connectivity issues with your Nest Connect, and we're sorry to hear you spent a long time trying to make it work with your Nest x Yale Lock.
Nest x Yale Lock can't connect to your Wi-Fi network directly as it needs to connect to the Nest Connect first which comes with your Nest lock, or with the Nest Guard and Nest Hub Max if you are having one. Either Nest Connect, Nest Guard or Nest Hub Max acts as a border router to your Wi-Fi network. You need to make sure your border router is within range (within 50ft direct line of sight) of the Nest x Yale Lock and Wi-Fi router. This range could be shorter if there are potential sources of interference, either physical interference (thickness and type of walls, mirrors, windows, etc.) and competing signals (other wireless devices, baby monitors, microwaves, etc.). You might want to restart the devices (Nest x Yale Lock, border router, Wi-Fi router) and move them closer if you need to establish a stable connection.
If you still experience some difficulty getting a stable connection, please feel free to reach out to our support channels where you can speak to any of our support specialists. We'd be happy to assist you further and work on providing you a better experience. Here's the link where you can contact us:  https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Going bad after only a few weeks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased this lock a few weeks ago, its already going offline when nothing else is. I called customer care about what could be the problem and was told it is the connection between the connect and the lock is failing. Seems like everything I buy from best buy these days are failing either immediately or after only a short period of time. Not sure whats going on with all these new products these days.

Another Over Priced Piece of Google Junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought mine 10 months ago and was having connectivity issues with it. I had to take the thing apart to get to the reset button, which you have to remove from door to access, and reset the lock. When installing it again, the deadbolt froze and wouldnt move. I contacted Google Support who required me to fill out a form twice, send a video twice then havent responded back in 4 days.

Worked for a while...
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am writing this review about a year and a half after the original purchase. For a long time, I was happy enough with this lock, but the connection to my wifi through a Nest Connect separate device was a bit of a hassle to set up and was always kind of fumbly to deal with. Then, after working relatively fine for over a year, a month ago the Nest Connect started losing connection to my router, throwing the lock offline. At first it was intermittent, but after a while it just stopped connecting and I couldn't get it back. At that point, the lock stopped remembering passcodes and I had no way to manage it through the app. I tried Nest Support several times, factory reset the lock, etc. and nothing worked. I had changed nothing on my router settings, the router was less than 15' away in line of sight of the Connect device, and I could not get the matter resolved--Nest refused to consider that there might be something wrong with their devices. Finally, fed up, I replaced the Yale/Nest bundle with a Schlage Encode smart wifi deadbolt that does not need a separate connecting device. If you want the piece of junk the Yale/Nest combo has become, I'd be happy to send it to you.

Not what I expected
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this for over a year now. I never could get it to connect to the Google system. Now it will randomly lock me out and the buttons won’t work or it just keeps telling me to wait and try again later. There is no way to unlock the door with a key when the keypad dies or doesn’t respond. Overpriced for what it is.

Posted .Hi MikeR, we're sorry to hear that your experience with the Nest x Yale Lock hasn't been as smooth as expected. It seems like Privacy Mode might be the culprit. This feature offers extra control over who can access your home during specific times. When activated, it disables the keypad on the Google Nest x Yale Lock, preventing unlocking via passcode.
Here's how to disable Privacy Mode:
Using the Nest App:
1. Open the Nest app.
2. Navigate to Settings.
3. Select your lock.
4. Tap Privacy Mode.
5. Toggle the switch to turn it off.

Worst keyless entry ever
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst money ever spent . Changed wifi from Centurylink to Verizon and door wouldn’t reconnect to wifi even with geek squad assistance . Had the lock for 5 months and had to turn around a purchase new one . I do recommend the Eufy instead and it’s much cheaper .

Posted .Hi Diane, thanks for giving us time to share your feedback about the Nest x Yale Lock, and we’re sorry to hear your difficult experience with reconnecting it to your new Wi-Fi.
Your lock doesn’t connect directly to Wi-Fi. Instead, it uses a Google Nest Connect or Google Nest Guard for its internet connection. So you’ll only need to update the Wi-Fi information on your Connect to get your lock back online. The simplest fix for most Nest products is to update your home network so that the network name (SSID) and password are the same as before. This will usually work even if you’ve purchased a new Wi-Fi router as long as the manufacturer settings are the same.
If this doesn’t work, or you want to keep your new network name or password, you’ll need to update the Wi-Fi details on your Nest Connects. Here’s how:
- Bring your phone or tablet to the same room as your Nest Connect.
- On the app home screen, tap Settings (Nest settings icon).
- Tap Nest Connect. You may need to scroll down to see this option.
- Tap the Connect you want to change.
- Tap Wi-Fi Connection, then tap Start.

Not a Good lock
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lock is garbage. After 5-6 months of ownership, I had to work with Yale to have it exchanged under the manufacturer's warranty. That was a nightmare. The new unit arrived and it is constantly offline from the network. I have tried removing the lock from my Nest account and adding it back and the problem has not gotten better. I have gone outside at times without my phone and have gotten locked out because the keypad is offline. I have Fiber internet service and none of my other devices give me consistent trouble like this item. I wanted this because I like the idea, concept and look. I am out of almost $300 dollars and will need a replace this look after just 2 years of poor service. I do not recommend this lock. I purchased the lock in 2019, so the newer units might be better but I am down with the Nest Yale lock.

Posted .Hi AtlantaDLC, thanks for posting your feedback about the Nest x Yale Lock, and we;re sorry to learn it’s a disappointment for you. We can imagine how difficult this has been, and this is not the kind of user experience we intended to share with you.
Your Google Nest × Yale connects to the internet through a Google Nest Connect or Google Nest Guard in your home. It does not directly connect to Wi-Fi. If your lock is offline, there are still some ways you can lock and unlock your door. Even if your lock is offline, most passcodes will still work. So will the thumb turn inside your home. Since your lock gets its internet connection from your Connect or Guard, first check if the connecting product is offline. You may visit this link for more information: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9235363
If your Nest Connect or Guard is online but not the lock, you can try the following steps that might help:
- Check your app version. Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app or Nest app to get the latest features and bug fixes.
- Try to restart your lock. Take off the battery cover and remove the batteries from your lock. If you received a low battery alert, use a fresh set of standard AA batteries. Don’t use rechargeable batteries with your lock.
- Check for the sources of interference like thick walls, furniture, appliances, and other electronics.
- If none of the troubleshooting steps helped, you may need to factory reset your lock. Follow the steps in this article:: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9218474

Worked - then didn’t
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product worked flawlessly for about 6 months. Then nothing but issues. Tried everything on their support site and google. Will no longer connect at all. It started by locking me out of my app and wouldn’t take the master password. Reset and it worked for about 24 hours then offline and no master password again. Ever since it has not been able to connect. Extremely dissapointed.
