Doesn’t WORK
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New yale x nest customer here and I got mine as an Xmas present. Boy do I regret asking for this. My smart home has been dumbed down to its core basics since everything runs off the same WiFi this stupid lock is keeping me off of. I have never been so upset with a new gagdet. Also an Xfinity customer here, installed it worked for an hour, was able to show on my app and not even an hour later while I was out the lock was unavailable and my entire wireless connectivity was down. I’m ok with the product not working but it’s taking down everything with it too?!

Very poor service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a YALE lock in 2021 and unfortunately encountered some serious issues: Unexpected Lock Failure: Despite changing the battery three months ago as prompted by warning messages, the lock suddenly went dead without any prior indication. This happened on a day when we were expecting a large event with hundreds of guests. Due to the urgency and lack of response, we had to hire a locksmith to open the door and replace the lock immediately. QR Code Issue: The model (the small QR code) on the new lock is not functioning, preventing us from using the mobile app. Out-of-Warranty Concerns: While we understand that the old lock is out of warranty, we find it unacceptable to consider this as a reason to evade responsibility, given the potential damage and disruption this situation caused to our business. Furthermore, our interactions with the YALE customer service team were very unpleasant, although mostly positive. A supervisor named Manny's attitude was shockingly rude, he seemed not have compassion for our situation, This experience has been disappointing.

Randomly stopped working and warranty won't cover
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this lock in 2020. It has been a great lock so far. But I'm upset because it just randomly stopped working. When I press the lock button and it is unlocked, instead of locking, it prompts for a passcode because it thinks it's locked. The lock has never been dropped, wet, or damaged in any way. It's in pristine condition as I have taken great care of it. I tried all the troubleshooting steps but finally called support for help. They had me go through the reset steps again even though I told them I already did that. When that didn't work, the customer rep let me know that the lock is defective but it's outside of the two year warranty so there's nothing he can do. So let me see if I understand correctly, I spend $250 on a lock that's supposed to last me at least 10 years. The lock stops working through no fault of my own. And even after escalating the issue to a manager, there's nothing they can do to help except offer me a 20% discount on another lock?! Why would I buy this lock again if it's just going to break after 3 years and no one can help me fix it? Either offer a better warranty or make a longer lasting product. Very disappointed with the service and the product.

Complete Failure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 50+ hours of online support from both Nest and Yale Lock....numerous (30+ times) installations with 2 different Nest x Yale lock units .... was unable to get the Yale Lock to communicate with the Connect Hub/App. As a last try, NEST senior support advised me to contact my ISP to enable iPv6 on my router. This would have resulted in added cost to my internet bill. So, back my unit goes to Yale! Would love to know whether anyone experienced this situation.

Connect Stopped Working
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything was going smoothly, until it wasn't about 8 months in. The connect stopped working out of the blue. I tried to link it to my app- nothing. I tried to reset it- it sensed "previous settings." I tried moving the connect- nope. And because it is no longer working, my lock is ALWAYS offline. For the price, this is unacceptable. I wanted the August lock, but it didn't fit this particular door so I went for the Nest x Yale, big mistake. Go for something else and spare yourself the wasted time and the loss of peace of mind when it stops working.

DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Avoid this lock at all cost. Very expensive, I’ve owned this for over a week now and have spent hours on the phone with support because it goes offline almost everyday. When it does you have to do the initial set up all over which means unscrewing the lock from your door to press the reset button on the back of the lock itself. Imagine having to do that multiple times a week to control the lock from your phone. Don’t take my word, research the problems with Yale x nest lock online, I sure wish I did before purchasing. There are much better options and I will be returning this $250 BRICK!!

Love Nest stuff but this lacks reliability.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this on my door for a year. Thankfully it is a vacation home so door is not used daily. The biggest issue I have with it is that the code to use from the outside keeps disappearing so the one I programmed worked for a day then I was unable to open door after that. After a very lengthly call to support I gave up. What it will do is I can unlock it from my phone which has been helpful. The one time I left the house without my phone, I had to call my assistant at the office 200 miles away to access our Nest account and then she could unlock it for me. Love my other Nest products but I would be wary of buying this one since not sure why it will not retain the code.

Nest Support is Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased 2 Indoor IQ, 2 Outdoor IQ, Nest Secure, 2 Extra Sensors, Nest Thermostat, Nest Temp Monitor, Nest Yale Lock, 3 Nest Protects, and have 3 Google Home Minis, 2 Google Homes, and 1 Google Home Hub. My Investment in the Google Smart Home environment has been well over $4k. In my short time (about 6 months) of using my Nest products, there have been about 3-4 service outages and about 4-6 times where there was no official service outage and I for some reason couldn't connect to the devices in my home. This is appalling since I rely on these devices for home security. Every time I talk to Nest support, there is a weird and convoluted process that I have to follow. For example, I recently purchased the 5-day Nest Aware subscription for $180/year. They took my money 6 days ago, but when I checked my app, I'm still unable to access my subscription. They warned that it would be 1-2 days for the subscription to completely activate, but this seemed off. Time to contact support! Support informs me that there was a glitch in the System and that my subscription didn't attach to the cameras. Keep in mind, they didn't alert me of this, they just took my money. Okay, should be a simple and straightforward process to get this resolved right? They have my money, they should be able to perform a refund and repurchase the subscription for me. That IS NOT the case. I would have to wait 10 business days for my return to be processed and returned to my card, otherwise, if I just signed back up for Nest Aware before then, I would be charged AGAIN and the refund wouldn't go back to my credit card, it would be used to re-up my subscription next year! While $180 isn't a whole lot of money, this is just so incredibly irritating. TL;DR If you have trouble with Nest, my experience is they will NEVER proactively reach out to you and inform you know there is a problem. It's on you to notice the problem, then reach out to support and have a convoluted solution laid out to you. I'm disappointed that I didn't go with Amazon's products since all of my support with Amazon has been absolutely wonderful in the past.

Posted .Hi there, CharlesB. We understand the frustration when having connection issues with the Nest x Yale Lock. Here’s some steps to follow to get your device up and running:
1. Move things closer together: Try to plug your Connect into an outlet close to your lock.
2. Check your app version: Make sure that you have the latest version of the app on your phone or tablet
3. Restart Connect: Plug Connect into a power outlet > Hold down Connect’s button until the light pulses blue (about 10 seconds). Then, release the button > Wait for Connect’s light to turn green, which means the restart is complete > Check whether your Connect and Detects come back online in the app.

Not worth your time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lock looks great; locks and unlocks like any normal lock would/should Problem is the software. Connecting this product is impossible. I returned the 1st one thinking it was defective after the geek squad installer could not figure it out. Once I exchanged I installed myself and the same issue connecting arose. Error T030. Checked all router settings, contacted ISP about IPv6 compatibility, contacted Nest, and searched forums. Literally tried everything and cannot get the lock and the CONNECT to communicate with one another. CONNECT is connected to wifi properly according to the app. But once I tried to pair them together... no dice. $300 of complete trash. Was going to outfit my entire home with Nest and Google home products, but that looks very unlikely now.

Will be returning all of ours
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We own seven vacation rentals. All of them are five hours or further from where we live. We have been searching for exactly what the Nest/Yale lock offers for quite some time now. So we were very very excited when this one became available. We installed our first one in June. It worked fantastic for about two months when the battery died. We were not in town but the cleaning service and the AC repair company were both standing outside unable to get in. Our next guests were due in two hours. We called a handyman who also could not get in. He ended up breaking a window so everyone could get their work done before our guests arrived. We installed the locks in our second home in July. That home required three wi-fi locks. In September one of these locks failed. It just kept saying that code is not available now. Thank goodness we were in town and my husband was able to troubleshoot it. After many hours of research and failed programming he finally took the entire lock apart and pushed a reset button and then had to program all the codes back in. We installed a smart lock in our third home in September. We made sure not to use the battery that came with the lock but instead bought a brand new battery. In less than a month the battery died during one of our guests’ stays and they were locked out. The lock kept saying, that code is not available now. Miraculously enough there was a window unlocked and they were able to crawl in through the window. We instructed them to leave the door unlocked every time they left the home. We were not in town and there is no one around there that knows anything about these locks. Needless to say we will be removing the five locks we have installed and returning the other four we have not installed yet. This has cost us quite a bit of money at $250 per lock not to mention the time and anguish that we, our guests, and our service personnel have experienced. If anyone knows of a product like this but one that actually works and is reliable please let us know as we are in desperate need!

Posted .We're sorry to hear of the trouble you've encountered after installing the Nest x Yale Locks in your homes. Please note that you should receive a notification from the Nest app when the lock’s batteries are getting low, and a second notification when they’re critically low. If you need, you can use a 9 Volt battery to temporarily charge the lock so you can enter your passcode on the lock’s keypad to lock or unlock it. Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can anyone recommend a good replacement that does not require the nest connect device? I’m on my second replacement. I see someone responding to positive reviews, but there is no support. The nest connect device is unreliable and it’s hard to find replacements. It’s like a printer. Everything else works on my network but nest connect, even when it’s right next to my router.

Posted .Hi, MartinD. We're sorry to hear about the inconvenience that you're having connectivity issues with your Nest Connect. Google Nest Connect does three things: it extends the range of your Google Nest Secure alarm system so you can install Google Nest Detect sensors farther away, it has a backup battery in case the power goes out, and it enables the Google Nest × Yale Lock to be set up and to connect to the internet. We recommend you to check the Nest service status, Check that Connect is plugged in and also Restart Connect:
Plug Connect into a power outlet.
Hold down Connect’s button until the light pulses blue (about 10 seconds). Then, release the button.
Wait for Connect’s light to turn green, which means the restart is complete.
Check whether your Connect and Detects come back online in the app.
Important: If you hold Connect’s button for much longer than 8 seconds, the light will turn yellow, which means your Connect is preparing to factory reset. To prevent this after the light turns yellow, immediately release the button, and then press the button once more to cancel the factory reset. Here's the link to get more details about the troubleshooting steps that you can follow: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9235363 If you need further assistance you can contact us through the following link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Posted .Hi there, BestBuyGuy. We appreciate your feedback on the Nest x Yale Lock. You will need to have Google Nest Connect installed and connected to the Nest app for the Nest × Yale Lock to work with the app. Make sure that the border router (Nest Connect) is within range (~50ft direct line of sight) of the Nest x Yale Lock and Wi-Fi router. This range could be shorter if there are potential sources of interference, either physical interference (thickness and type of walls, mirrors, windows, etc.) and competing signals (other wireless devices, baby monitors, microwaves, etc.). If Nest Connect is too far away from your lock, your lock will be offline in the app but Nest Connect will be online. If Nest Connect is too far away from your Wi-Fi router, both Nest Connect and your lock will be offline in the app. Learn how to troubleshoot Nest Connect here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9235363
