The item itself is great. But Best Buy does not offer any extended warranties for it.

It does the job. I must say I would like to try another brand, but this is the only one Best Buy currently keeps in store with 24 GB ports. This is the 3rd Netgear 24 Port GB Switch of it's kind I am replacing. They don't stick around - seems like they get ports burnt up very quickly - poor grounding perhaps. I have had all 3 Netgear switches on APC battery backup surge protection and still I loose one every year.

Using this on industrial network, the price is right and the unit is passing data at speeds consistent with our industrial processes

This is a light duty switch that will not handle office grade (or heavy home office) loads over 150 Mbps sustained. Unlike intelligent switches from Cisco, Juniper or Ubiquiti there is no management. Ports are not isolated, nor is there a VLAN feature. With 12 devices at standard load, the switch could not keep up and devices disconnected. After a week, I pulled this and replaced it with an enterprise grade switch.

It only provides 100 data and is not selective as the box says But just easier to have all input in one place

This is a fast and solid unmanaged Gigabit switch.

I've owned several smaller NETGEAR switches over the years and they seemed to be solid and could take some punishment. I've owned this one for 6 months and it looses ports left and right. It seems to be a common problem with the current crop of NETGEAR switches. Good thing it started with 24 ports as currently 13 work reliably and I only need 12. Its a cheap enough switch that many use the strategy of buying the big one, then replace it when you loose too many ports. I think I'll try another make this time, however. The BestBuy order and pickup process was well done.
