    Works out of the box. Compared to the professional version it does not indicate whether the link is 100T or 1000T. If its a link the LED is green. Took 1 star off for that

    I bought the Netgear 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch to let the devices in my home/office take advantage of gigabit speed where available, especially to speed backups from my notebook to my TimeMachine. The switch works fine and importantly, runs cool. Only con - no link speed lights.

    Lately, 2 months after professional installation, my internet drops at night, and it never did that prior to the purchase of this product...hopefully it's the service provider and not this expensive system that was supposed to eradicate these problems..

    I needed a Ethernet switch for A/V setup as Receiver, TV , and Blue ray player all have a network connection. This does the job!
