Possible defective unit or poorly made not sure

Wished I had a bit more time to do research and there were other available choices. Sadly not all outlets functioned well and this was disappointing. Wanted to make an exchange for another unit but they were always out of stock. Had to keep this so I could work from home. Will never know if this just happened to be a manufacturing defect on this one unit or if all the units had issues like mine.
