I bought this product in order to set up a home network so that there would be less reliance on wifi. It works great and the value is reasonable.

I bought this device as replacement for the older model at my Church because the connection kept dropping between my computer and the printer. Since I installed it, this switch has not failed yet and for that type of dependability, it gets 5 stars! Netgear really makes great products and I would highly recommend this one!

It looks great; I don't feel like I need to hide it! It performs very well (Gigabit speed rating)!! I liked it so much, I bought several of them!

Much smoother and faster than the switch I replaced. The switch does not have send receive led to know it's wok ing like the one I replaced

Took it out of the box, used it to swap out from the switch my home builder used. Allowed me to use all of my lan connections.

Our internal office network needed to hit the road for some off site data entry activities. My boss tasked me with making sure that as many as 8 computers could link to eachother independently of our office network so we could leave the office but still be connected, This guy did the trick and did so with no snags or crazy installation or extra hardware purchases. We love it!!

Pros: I really love these netgear switches. You plug them in, and they do the work. Lifetime warranty, no weird things going on that you have to troubleshoot (like a certain cisco switch that inexplicably blocked things and needed a firmware downgrade to correct... yes, a layer 2 SWITCH.) There's really nothing bad I have to say about these. The design is elegant and solid, not like some of the more flashy, obnoxious switches I've seen. Cons: I can't think of any, really. It's a fast switch that you can plug in and never think about again. Other Thoughts: You can't go wrong with netgear.

For those that wonder why us geeks get excited about something like this, let me explain how I use this. As with most households these days, we have multiple devices hooked up to our televisions (DVD or Bluray player, game console, DVR, etc.). What this allows you to do is use one physical network connection, and connect all of your network capable devices to it. This way, everything is hardwired, and you don't have to worry about poor wifi signals in the heat of a Halo deathmatch. We purchased this a long time ago, and it shows no signs of going out. Love it.

Pretty basic stuff here. It's a switch to add into an existing system. No brains needed to set it up. Plug it in and you are on your way.

I needed this thing for some expansion at my office. Stopped by the BestBuy (about a mile from my work) picked this up and problem solved! Easy to setup with nothing to configure. It works great. I've been running it non-stop since mid December and have had no issues. If you need this type of item your money is safely spent on this.

This switch works wonderfully. I use it on my home network to keep as many things hard lined as I can so I am not bogging down my WiFi.

This network switch supports real fast. It has replicated my 1 GBPS speed connection with exact speed when connected to different ports.

Exactly what I was looking for. I upgraded my Internet Service Provider's (Comcast) router to the xFi which only has 2 Ethernet ports. I needed more for the gaming systems and smart TV. This was easy to setup and gave me the ports I needed to do direct connection instead of only wireless.

I needed a switch that would handle to printers, a plotter and a back up hard drive. This did the trick and the speed was an improvement.

I have used Netgear devices for a long time as a cost effective network solution. This device was very easy to install and works great.

My purchase of this Gigabit switch was concurrent with a router upgrade through Verizon. Although my house network cabling is only Cat5 (rated at 100Mb/s) and Gigabit is 1000Mb/s, I did see an increase in the network speeds of the computers connected to my new Gigabit switch, which replaced a 10/100 switch. It was not 10 times faster, but at least 2-3 times faster. And of course, my new service from Verizon was a jump fro 25 to 50 Mb/s with the newer router, and Wireless G to Wireless N too.
