This switch boosted the signal from my router and all my wired game systems. No lag and download time were shrunk down for all game downloads. Streaming from Apple TV, and Samsung TV is buffer free now unlike before. All this without calling the cable company to upgrade my current internet.

Still working as hard as the day I installed it! Almost 6 years old now and no sign of slowing down at all under any load. I use it on my mixed network (1000 and 100 speeds), with no detriment to the of speed of the fastest components. Speeds are as fast as the computers harddrives, no bottleneck with this switch

    So Simple, So Reliable

These are great switches at great prices. I was in a dilemma. I had two Cat 5e outlets and a TV, Uverse Box, Printer, Laptop and XBOX 360 that all needed network connectivity. With this switch I was able to put my everything on the switch except my Uverse box. Because Uverse is HD and I want to watch in 1080p on my big LCD, I gave it a dedicated port for better bandwidth. It was easy to setup out of the box and required nothing special to get running within minutes. Love it and love Netgear products. They really give the Linksys/Cisco products a run for the money.

    Works great-Hidden in Closet

SInce we moved into a new house, I wanted everything in my "media closet" to be wired for speed and efficiency. I was looking for an affordable, Gigabit switch to ensure no slow-downs, at least on the switch side. This has worked great, and I currently have my Pioneer Elite Receiver, xbox, PS3 and sat box hooked up. I purchased the 8 port over the 4 or 5 port switches since I want to make sure I am not limited to device hookup in the future.

This is a great value for sure. I purchased it for work for our conference room so that when we want to be able to plug in more than 1 laptop to the network we can and this works fantastic for it. Easy to use just plug it in and go. Very stylish. It looks fantastic with the white and clear/chome look. Even has 2 legs if you wish to stand it up vertical.

    Great basic Gigabit Switch

For the regular consumer this switch does what you need. Why would you need a wired switch? Well the speed difference transferring files/videos from wifi versus wired is unbelievable - it is at least 5x faster if not more.

I purchased this product to expand the number of ports on my router. Specifically, it connects my router to Ethernet ports in 3 other rooms to support Blu-ray and receiver connections. It has performed admirably since I installed it. I have not encountered a single problem with it. I highly recommend this product.

Easy way to add more ports

This is my second 8-port Ethernet switch. I outgrew my Router's 4 ports, added an 8-port Netgear, filled those up, then bought this second netgear switch. Excellent quality and quick hook-up. What an easy way to add Ethernet Ports to a network! I have one switch in my house along with my router (with 4 spare ports left), and one in my garage coming off the first switch and feeding my three surveillance cameras. If you need more ports, get this!

With only one line coming into my entertainment cabinet, this does a stellar job. TV,PS3, PS4, Cable box all connected to a stylish unit, with lights to help troubleshoot. No configuration, just plug it in.

Worked out of the box after reboot for all systems

I redid my network a tad (using Comcast phone/modem vs cable modem as it started going south recently) and it has and is working as I had hoped. Now I am looking at replacing the router since I am still seeing intermittent speed drops (1Gb to 100Mb) or disconnects and only thing left is the DLink DIR-655 router I've had for awhile and at latest DLink firmware for it's model/build. But I had intended on getting one so I can hook up my PS3 hard-wired vs wireless to improve performance when streaming movies/music over my LAN. Simple to set up, and worked fine out of the box after my main desktop reboot (2 desktops, 1 WHS, 1 PS3, 1 Wii and 1 Asus gaming Laptop on my network most days (additional Laptop now and then).

The hardest part of the setup was pluging it to the wall behind the desk. Installing it was a breeze it was so easy a youngster could do it Works great I have so many things hooked up to it I even have a wireless router to hook up my home theater, VOIP phone, 2 external harddrives, sling Box, printer all in one, and I dont have any slow downs
