Great product but do not use for anything that requires a static ip. Put your wireless router before the switch or you will have a situation. Will not solve modem router compatibility issues but for allowing/extending multiple access to your modem or router it is great, very fast and plug and play.

This switch installed easily, worked perfectly and the 1 Gbps ports noticeably improve browser response on computers that have 1 Gbps ports.

With all the devices wanting internet access. Wireless is one option. I prefer to have everything wired. Instead of plugging and unplugging or having to run more cables. I picked this up and it works great.

Needed a new switch with more ports and this has done the trick so far. Connected I have a Sony TV, PS3, XBOX, Computer, and Direct TV and all network connections working great. Will probably get another for office.

It's a switch. Pretty simple, but it does what it is supposed to do, at a decent price. We use it as part of a home office network, to handle the security camera traffic, with gigabit connection to the video server, and it handles all that just fine.

This has got to be the simplest thing that I have ever installed. I simply plugged the internet line in and the internet devices into the output ethernet ports. I wish WIFI routers came with more ports then I wouldn't have to use this.

So far, so good. I plugged in and all is working well. I have not done any speed tests, so I can't comment on that. But, really, with a device like this, the real value from it will be if it lasts. Right now, it is still new.

This switch was on sale less than half off, so it was a no-brainer to add ports.

What can I say... it does what a switch should do, and it does it very well. I've had mine for nearly a year now, and it's never faltered. I demand a lot from my network (media streaming, file transfers, remote desktop sessions, etc) and it's never given me a problem. Network transfer speeds are very fast (70-80 MBytes/sec). Other reviewers have reported problems, but I've had none. Obviously unless you've got gigabit ports on both ends, you're not going to get gigabit speeds (maxing around 11 MBytes/sec means you're running at 100 megabit speeds). Also, it's always a good idea to have your switch on surge protector, as network equipment tends to be especially sensitive to spikes.

What can I say, it's Netgear

I am a professional network engineer for a living. I usually avoid Netgear products at all costs, because I have never had one work properly for any length of time. I had no choice when I bought this because the local Best Buy was out of competitive brands. My real switch died, and I had to have something immediately because I do remote network support 24/7. I plugged it in and hooked it up. Then I realized that it is not a managed switch. [Meaning that there is no way of manipulating the switch ports via command line or GUI]. SHAME ON ME FOR NOT CHECKING. It worked great for two days and then all the lights stayed solid and it ceased working. I replaced it with an older (slower) switch that I had laying around and everything started working again. I threw it in the Netgear pile with my laptop wireless cards, computer network cards, and NAS device that never worked right either.

1st one died after 2 years

Replaced with the exact same switch so I didn't have to do anything else to the network, but the first switch died after about 2 years. But the swap was easy and the product is cheap so I won't knock it too many stars, just know the longevity isn't there.

I am using this to tie in for a captel phone. Plugged the Neatgear into my computer and into my phone and it works great. No trouble with installation or performance, but only had it for about a month. Have not noticed any difference in my computer speed. Would I recommend this product. YES
