    NOT GIGABIT

Not sure what Gigabit means to Netgear but it's not this. I have a 300Mbps speed at home. I connected directly to the switch and was only getting 100Mbps with multiple devices on multiple Cat 6 cables on each port on the switch. This is a falsely advertised Gigabit switch and is actually a 10/100 switch.

    Don't buy it

As a network engineer, I should have trusted my instincts and not bought a Netgear. But it looked nice and the price was better that some other brands, so I took a chance. The first disappointment was that I was not really getting Gigabit speeds. even though the switch recognized the gig port on the devices connected I ran a few speed test and was not getting any better performance than my old 10/100 switch. But the true frustration occured this morning when my entire home network was down because this little guy decided to up and die on me. Contacted Netgear support but of course it is over a year old so I am out of luck. Best advice I can give you is avoid netgear at all costs

    Buyer beware

BUYER BEWARE! I bought this unit from Best Buy and it failed 17 days later, just stopped working. Brought it back to Best Buy with the receipt for a replacement and they would not replace it, said that the replacement warranty was only for 15 days. That's ridiculous, Netgear is generally a good unit and obviously I got a defective one. Best Buy should have just replaced the unit. Needless to say I would have better off purchasing this unit from another vender, one with a more reasonable return policies

    Throughput is Terrible

I have a 50 mb down connection so I got this switch to route some traffic through my house. I plus it in and connect through it and I do speedtests and the most I can get is 11 mbs?! wtf! unbelievable, i've tested different ports and I've tried a bunch of different things, with no luck. I bought a cisco gigabit router and it has no issues, if I connect through it I get the full throughput with no loss. This is very dissapointing.

Already Failed, buzzing noise and no longer works

Already Failed, buzzing noise and no longer works. This is the second Netgear switch that has failed this year. They were plugged into a battery backup device and surge protected and still after a couple of months of use the power light came on and none of the ports lit up.
