Does not play well with my iPadPro 2018

Download speed is often less that 100 kBs. Yes, that’s kbs. I often lose my internet connection. It works fine with my Android tablet, but I prefer to use the iPad. I’ll be returning this for some better model, whatever that might be.

    Mbps drop-out cut-out streaming after 2 months

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

OK for 2 months but then glitchy. Connection drops increased. Got bad enough to test signal at modem, which was very good, but wireless router did not through-put. Router direct-connect was good, so wireless distribution was faulty. Changed wireless settings to no avail... called NetGear tech... helpful bu tno cure for bad hardware. Mbps would intermittently drop to 1.8 so streaming would cut-out. Look elsewhere for your router.

Incredibly misleading package lies about 1GB speed

    Posted .

There's a difference between having to read the fine print... and the fine print completely contradicting what it says in big bold typeface on the front of the box. This router physically CANNOT reach speeds of 300+700 Mbps (1 Gbps) as advertised on the box. Both the WAN and LAN ports are limited to 100 Mbps. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with tech support. Even they could not figure out why it was impossible to receive the advertised speeds. Only purchase this router if your internet is 100 Mbps or slower. Even still, I would avoid this router based on principle.

Failed after 20 days, tech support is nonexistent

Failed after 20 days, internet LED remains amber. Called Netgear technical support, got case number, in fact 2 numbers over a 2 day period. Had to repeat 4 times the same info, was put on stand by twice for more than 40 minutes each time, then got disconnected. Call again twice, they ask for my phone # in case we would be disconnected, sure enough got cut off again and nobody called back. Netgear technical support is nonexistent! Very disappointing, returned the router to the vendor.

Terrible, not worth price, never worked

This never worked for more than an hour or so at a time. Was on the phone with tech support several times a day for hours. Tried it for a week and a half. No luck ever getting it functional. Bought the more expensive version and returned this one. The more expensive one is amazing and works great. Spend the money to get the better one.

    only 100 Mbit internet connection

Router maxes out around 75 Mbit real world download because the WAN / cable modem connection is only a 100 Mbit port. Otherwise works OK

    defective, no support

Couldn't set it up. During setup it said I needed to update firmware. The firmware site wouldn't accept the login credentials that are on the device, and it wouldn't accept the serial number that was there either. When I contacted netgear, they told me to call a number that was just a busy signal. I'm returning it tomorrow morning.

    Feedback on the router

    Posted .

The worst product I bought this year. After working fine for about 1.5 months, it gave me a lot of issues: slow and instable internet speed both with wire and without wire(WiFi). The highest speed is about 94 Mbps, but it fluctuates even dropping to 15 Mbps, while the modem is giving 230 Mbps.

The firmware update "bricked" the router. It has alternating flashing lights when have been confirmed as a hardwire fault. This happened during the firmware update. It never was any stronger than the router the cable company provided.

When my husband unplugged the wifi while cleaning for a few seconds, all of the settings were lost and I had to completely reinstall the unit...like it was a brand new unit. I looked it up and this seems to be a general problem.

Could not activate without purchasing encryption software. No where did it indicate that the router was not a “plug and play”.
