Customers are saying

Customers value the AC1200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender for its ease of use, significantly improved Wi-Fi range and signal strength, resulting in better overall performance and coverage. Many appreciate the straightforward setup process. While some find the price a bit high, the positive feedback on performance and range outweighs this concern for most users.

This works fine, but with the popularity of mesh networking, and the cons using an extender bring, it's just not worth buying in 2018...

I rented a cabin that was out of range of their wifi. This item was listed as a wifi extender. When I tried to use it, I first followed the directions for setting up the extender and that worked out well. The next step was to connect to the wifi. I couldn't do that which is why I bought the extender in the first place. So apparently it isn't an extender but a signal strenghtener

I set this up. It was working for about 15 minutes but then it disconnected my device from the network. It kept dropping my various devices form the network. This was very frustrating. I would have to continually reconnect the various devices as if it were the first time connecting them. I returned it.

I wanted this to work, but, after losing internet constantly, I tried turning it off and then I had no more troubles. I know it generally gets good reviews, so maybe I've got some broken settings. At any rate, probably not going to bother because my internet is currently working just fine without it.

Critical problem - there is no ability to change the output channel to something other than the same channel as the input. In a crowded channel situation this makes the repeated signal unusable. This is also how I discovered that Best Buy will not accept a return if it is more than 2 weeks since the purchase.

We're using this as a wireless method to extend Ethernet to a room I can't run wire to, to add simple NAS functionality to the network, as a DLNA streamer, and as a switch. We do not use the wireless repeat function. The extender is attached wirelessly to a Verizon FiOS N-type router, which supports only 2.4Ghz, and had little difficulty getting it to do so. It joined like a standard client. Initial speed tests showed incredibly low speeds in the neighborhood of 3Mb/sec. I turned off the wireless repeat functions on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, and that increased speeds significantly, presumably because all functions in use were on the same antenna. This brought speed up to internet speed for upload, and half the expected speed for download. I haven't found a good way to get download speeds to match upload just yet, but it's fast enough for what we're using it for. Will update the review and give it 5 stars if I find a way to fix download speeds as well. DLNA and NAS functions are quite nice. I created a share and a few folders on a USB attached hard disk. The EX6200 found the media files I dropped in those folders and published them to DLNA automatically. There is no visible way to turn off this function apart from disabling DLNA entirely. The DLNA function and shared folder showed up as a Network Location each on all Windows 8.1 computers automatically when it joined the network. I cannot speak to earlier versions, as we do not have any. I did not install any of the software that came with it, and everything is working great without it. So far, we're loving this device.

I have tried to set up the extender for the past 10 days with no luck. The 5 G network shows as set but it never works even with the extender next to the router. I will make my last attempt tomorrow calling support but it looks like this equipment is going back!!!!!!!
